I really don't understand the (4) team playoff system now with the classification changes (adding 6A and breaking up multiple divisions), really means absolutely nothing when you have a team make the playoffs anymore.  It is really embarrassing, and this playoff (warm up game for Henderson) is going to be even worse. 

 

Bullets13, Silsbee ended their deserved playoff streak last year.......... This is just UIL way of making money and Superintendents throughout the state keeping communities off their back about AD's.......IMO.

It's amazing how so many of these teams are having down years.... BC isn't doing well AT ALL, Silsbee is slumping, and Jasper seems to be having an off year, too.  With four teams out of seven making the playoffs, it's pretty frickin' hard to miss, but it's still up for grabs.  

Let's say it like it is........ There will be some HORRIBLE teams make the playoffs this year.

 

I have been a proponent of more teams making playoffs in the past because I saw some very good teams getting left at home, solely due to the district they were in...... and some of those teams made it a couple of rounds deep in the playoffs.  However, in this district this year, there will be some not so good teams make the playoffs and it will be ugly the first round of playoffs....

I was going to stay out of the QB conversations but I will give my opinion..... and it is just that an opinion.

 

I have watched both QB's every snap this year as agonizing as it may be..... Partain is the best "QB", he has the ability to run, the intelligence to read and a very good arm.  He doesn't have the strength of Thomas or the agility but he is the best "QB".  Thomas is good if you want to run a wildcat type offense.  Partain hasn't had time to let plays develop and given that he is young he rushes and makes mistakes.  I watched Thomas and the only time he really has been successful was this past week and that was against a lot of second team defense (and it was second team).  Teams know exactly how to play us, we pass with Partain and we run with Thomas........  We need a lot of work on the offensive line (and I mean A LOT!!), we do not have the athletes at the skill position that Silsbee is used to being blessed with.

My purpose is to point out when someone who claims to have a clue about baseball, does in fact, not. Someone please explain what a "cut 2 seam fastball" is. When someone can come on this forum, and espouse strong opinions, and throw around terminology like that, I think it's important to call B.S., or the other uninformed people of this board will continue to be just that.

Most cutters are thrown with a 4 seam grip, however, this pitcher uses a 2 seam grip.

Yeah would you like to know what I told our head coach about powell. He topped at 83 when he came and tried out and coach asked me if he had a bad day. I told him when he is healthy he is as good as anybody. I told him the kid can flat out pitch when healthy.

Your coach needs to find other sources than you!

I sat behind a couple of scouts with a gun on College Stations 2nd pitcher. He was consistently 90-92 on their gun while the outfield scoreboard had him 86-88.

It is obvious that you know nothing......ABSOLUTELY!!!!!

I guarantee you that Griffin throws 83-85 top end and Powell throws 90 top end!

Deputy, first, the link to perfect game was 2 years ago........

second, last night he was throwing a cut 2 seam fastball, which is 74-77 mph......

third, when he has been at camps (several), he has hit up to 83 on four seam fastball.

By the way Powell, who you say pitched 80-83 last night, threw at a tryout last week and hit 90 a couple of times on the gun......

The difference is pitching and throwing......

I would take all the Silsbee pitchers any day of any week of any year!!!!!!!!!!!!

The things silsbee did this year completely suprised me. They made it to the regional finals without a starting pitcher breakig 80. their best pitcher went down early. they battled through and still made it to the regional finals. Congrats tigers on a fine season

Hey deputy, that wasn't on his mind..... You continue to spew crap at Silsbee because you hate the fact that Kountze is sitting at home.

Remember Silsbee has been here just one year ago. Coach knows a lot about what will happen within a week, College Station has graduation this Friday night, so that night was out. For a three game series it would mean we had to play on Saturday (doubleheader). This would mean that our pitching staff would not be rested for the State Tournament!

Remember once again Deputy, Silsbee has been to the dance and Kountze gets to watch.

College Station should win this series whether 1 or 3 games.   I admit I haven't seen Silsbee and its obvious they are a great team for making it this for.   College Station has blue chippers all over the field and a 1st round draft choice in next years draft.  If Silsbee can get a dominant pitching performance, anything is possible.   Best of luck to both teams.

I'm sure that Silsbee will cause them to drop their blue chips all over the field! Silsbee has very good athletes! Our boys have always had to work for everything they get, not just have it given to them. We know most of the College Station team, because our boys have played them before...... The college station twelve. By the way, to get to this point Silsbee, has had to beat, a TOP FIVE PICK in draft, a five 3 round pick in the draft and several other blue chippers! College Station is a select team pulled from all over funneled into a 5A program, bring them on!

One of these teams in 3 games!! Wish I could call it!!

Silsbee gave up 9 runs but no earned runs...... I will say ump was really squeezing early then he got very inconsistent but it was on both sides.....

Bring those same plate appearances tomorrow night Tigers!

Ended that conversation very quickly....... Now they just sit the rest of the evening ribbing each other about how bad each of them ACTUALLY were.....  By the way, dad was the H2O boy!!!!!

What is the purpose of not releasing all district selections prior to the last team playing in the playoffs?  All District selections have absolutely no bearing on playoffs.
