1. SUB-VARSITY Freshmen Cameron Yoe 34 Bellville 20 JV Cameron Yoe 25 Bellville 7 Really impressed with our sub-varsity tonight. Freshmen are having to play without their best player which made varsity. JV should have another strong year after going 10-0 in 2015.
2. As good as 3 TDs sounds, I would be surprised to see a victory that large in the opener. Bellville is top 10 for a reason, and I expect them to be solid all around. If the field is muddy and it's raining, that will be a definite factor in favor of the Brahmas.
3. This will be an excellent game to open the 2016 season. Bellville should the the top test top open the season for Cameron since Gatesville in 2000 (eventual state champs), Some keys to the game: - For Cameron, the defensive front is going to need to have a good game. - For Bellville, will you establish the ground game early. If you see 4-5 yard gains, then it could be a good night for the Brahmas. - For the Bellville defense, how will you contain the Yoemen passing game. Receivers are going to be the strength of this team.
4. Yeah, Crockett will be a mis-match for most that cant match their speed. Crockett was very good last season.......what will make them great is a solid defense.
5. I really think you are looking at a battle between 1-2 & 3-4-5 if Kountze will be down from last year's 2-8 team. Bi-District predictions: Coldspring/Hempstead Kirbyville/East Chambers Buna/Hitchcock Woodville/La Marque Once again, I think the first two and second two matchups have the most potential to be switched.
6. Cameron Yoemen 2006 - Lost to La Vega in Bi-District 2007 - Lost to La Vega in Bi-District 2008 - No Playoffs 2009 - No Playoffs 2010 - STATE FINALIST 2011 - Area Finalist 2012- STATE CHAMPIONS 2013 - STATE CHAMPIONS 2014 - STATE CHAMPIONS 2015 - STATE FINALIST Top 10 in all-time wins in the state and steadily climbing. 2015 hurt no doubt. The Yoemen will look to get back on top in 2016.
7. Don't forget about Malakoff. Region III will be brutal. Not sure what to expect from La Marque quite yet. Does La Marque traditionally get a lot of move ins?
8. I believe you are going to be correct. Hitchcock made a run last year, but 3A DI region IV was down in a big way. I felt that Mathis would have had problems getting out of the first round of region III. Mathis beat Hitchcock, 54-27.
9. I'm looking forward to traveling to Bellville this year for that game with Cameron. The Brahmas are always solid, and I expect more the the same this season. They return Briscoe (MVP) plus 6 other all-district players. They lose 6 all-district players. Dobbins is going to be a force to watch. I only got a small sample at Navasota a few weeks ago, but he is going to be a force. Not sure what they will have around him.
10. Teams: Anahuac Hardin Hempstead Hitchcock La Marque East Chambers My prediction: 1. La Marque 2. Hitchcock 3. East Chambers 4. Hempstead 5. Anahauac 6. Hardin La Marque lost a lot from last year and how good they will actually be is unknown to me at this point. Hitchcock had a strong year and returns more than anyone else in the district. East Chambers lost a ton of talent. Will they be down a bit in 2016? Hempstead was not very good last year but they are a team you have to keep an eye on.
11. This is not an easy one to predict. I am going to with: 1. Coldspring 2. Kirbyville 3. Woodville 4. Buna 5. Trinity 6. Kountze 7. Warren I am taking Coldspring to win this district because of where I had them inside my pre-season rankings. After that, I have Kirbyville as a close 2nd and that could be a toss up if Coldsrping is going to be down a bit. Kirbyville also beat Woodville and Buna by 40+ in 2015 so that is a lot of ground to make up there. I will go with Woodville in the three spot, but those 3-5 spots could be up in the air. Trinity is losing some coaches including the HC/AD. Also will be losing one of their top younger players.
12. Got it. When you say "top tier" how many teams would you have in that group?
13. How is Southeast Texas looking for the 2016 football season? We are now just a few short months away from 2-a-days starting. Just off the top of my head, I would say Coldspring, La Marque, Kirbyville and East Chambers would be the teams to watch. Region III was already tough, it just got rougher. I had hoped the UIL would have moved Malakoff over to RII to try and even things about a big, but that did not happen. EC & KV going to be down a bit this season? Out of Coldspring/La Marque, who are you taking?
14. Yes, with this projection Coldspring is really the only one getting a raw deal. The question is does something like that look better, or something like this: 11-3ATrinity, Coldspring, Woodville, Warren, Kirbyville, Buna, Kountze12-3AHempstead, Hardin, East Chambers, Anahuac, Hitchcock, La Marque
15. I would say based on the amount of teams that will be in 3A DI, you are going to probably see two districts. Regardless, region III is going to be brutal. Here are two projections that I have seen: 1. [Hidden Content] 2. [Hidden Content] 11 Palestine Westwood, Elkhart, Trinity, Coldspring, Warren, Woodville, Kirbyville 12 Anahuac, Hardin, Hempstead, Kountze, Buna, Winnie East Chambers OR District 11: Trinity, Coldspring, Woodville, Warren, Kountze, Buna, Kirbyville District 12: Hempstead, Hardin, East Chambers, Anahuac, La Marque, Hitchcock
16.
Tatum will be better than 5
Tatum has a lot of talent coming up.  Where would you have Tatum in the pre-season poll?
17.
YOE-09, WHAT KEY PLAYERS DID YALL LOSE?, I KNOW THE QB AND THAT BULL ON THE D LINE BUT WASENT SURE OF ANYMORE
Actually, the QB was a Jr. last year, so he will be back to lead the offense.  Lost some lineman, but return a lot everywhere else.  You will also see this in TheOldCoach & DCTF Magazines when they come out in a few weeks, but if the Yoemen get quality line play, then this team can go places.  It is still early, so we will see what happens here in a few months when the scrimmages and the season kicks off.  Definitely looking forward to it.
18.
Newton shouldn't have a legit challenge until they meet Cameron Yoe again in the State Semis at Bowers or Woodforest this season barring unforeseen injuries IMO......... They should be pre-season #1
You could be right.  Newton was never really challenged throughout region III last year.  I believe Tatum is the only possible team (at this point) that could step up and have something to say about that.  However, they may still be a year away from that.  Newton Vs. Cameron Yoe could be the game that decides it again.  It is still early, and a lot of things can happen between now and then, but this is how most will have it going into the season.

22. Congrats to Newton on an outstanding season.  We hope to see more of you guys next year.
23. The Cameron faithful travel pretty well.  I would estimate we had around 4,000-5,000 Friday night, and that number should increase this week, as you would expect with any program as they move further into the playoffs.  On top of that, I am expecting a lot of TXHSFB fans in general to be at this one.  This is THE Newton Eagles Vs. THE Cameron Yoemen.  These are 2 of 4 programs in 2A that most people should know about.
