To be honest,  I don't see how Ned is ranked so high.  If they couldn't do more damage to PNG than that,  they should drop this week.  Take away the stooooopid throw, for the pic 6,, when we were about to score,  and this game has a totally different look.

I agree,  that NED could have run on us all night,  w/o ever having to throw,  but when they did,  they were very effective (against a secondary that is almost non-existent???)

Ned was just not that impressive.  Heck,  WOS, LCM and Summer Creek actually gave us a good ol' fashioned butt-whoopin (as stated above),  but not Nederland.

They are good,  but not as good as their ranking.

I could not agree more. I know my Ned Fan friends resent that I think this but know from years of following and watching that true state contenders, year after year, slaughter, and I mean slaughter teams like Vidor, LCM, PNG, Livingston and yes, even Nederland. We are winning, but we are not playing like a true top 10 team. Not even close. At this point as  HUGE Nederland fan that desperately wants to see our boys make it to a State Final game I will say that it will not, can not possibly happen if they dont start to produce more efficiently on offense and stop allowing these average teams to stay in the came. Its exhausting to watch, but I love my Dogs so I will watch and I will complain until it changes. Its a real shame.
2. I think Nedervilles post game celebration would be fun. I think
there would be a parade and I'm sure a public celebration. I don't think it would be mayhem. We are way way WAY too cool and narcisstic to show that much emotion.

I will say this,,, winning a big playoff game you are not supposed to win is a magical feeling, I speak as a fan. I can't imagine how the players feel. Watching our dogs take down Friendswood was incredible, exhilarating and one of the most powerfully emotional moments of my life. There nothing like the joy of having children but the raw incontrollable emotional release was absolutely indescribable... And don't deny it BULLDOG fans that were there... We were collectively in an absolutely frenzy of noise, bubbles, horns, whistles hugs and cheers. It was awesome. I couldn't talk for a week and my headache the next day was horrible :)
3. I didnt even know there was a radio show or whatever going on. Most of the sane world does not actually care what goes on on this message board. That does not make them any less fans or rivals.

I graduated in 85, I made a many a PNG and Nederland game between 1971 (when we came back to Texas when I was little) and 1985, to today including the PNG and Nederland playoff runs to state finals in the 70's, 90's and 2000's. I was around for, but not necessarily a witness to, several burning N's, totem poles being chopped down and or painted, egging of PNG signs, an egging parade that was squelched by Port Neches cops in the middle of the night, cars being egged and bottles being thrown at cars in the NHS school parking lot by INDIANETTES on parade, during school hours!! (I actually witnessed this, it was awesome, thank goodness my car didnt get hit  :D), I heard PNG **X!, shouted out over the PA system at a pep ralley in Nederland and the ERUPTION of the whole gym and ensuing expulsion of a student. I saw derogatory profanity painted on top of the NHS gym, most assuredly by PNG folks. I Have sat at tailgate partys before the game for the last 15 years or so, some with more fans tailgating than the 15000 that actually get inside.
Just a year or two ago I heard a 70 year old man with his whole entire face painted half black and half gold screaming and cursing at his brother at a tailgate party in Port Neches in front of a bunch of PNG fans about how much he hated those *#*^&#)! Indians, he didnt care who they were and he couldnt wait to see those kids get their ****** whipped. I still hear the cheers during Nederland games whenever PNG or WOS are reported as LOSING over the PA. I still see MCM Spirit week stuff that happens around town some in good spirit, some not so good spirit. I still see the unfriendly glares from PNG faithful as we pass each other walking from our cars to the gate as we enter the stauim. I hear the cheers and I most certianly hear (and dish out) the jeers. We HATE each other for a day or two and we bicker all year. But its all over the next day (except for the bickering) Trust me, the rivalry is alive and well. I hear it all week, all year at work and I dish it out myself.  A little love, a little more than a little sibling hate, a little jealously, a little frustration, a LOT of history. All in good fun.

Sorry Vidorians, you arent invited to the party :P. Go find yourself another rival. :)

Your jealousy over the MCM rivalry is,,,, cute and sad. I'd feel bad for you salivating over your desire to be in a rivalry with Nederland if your frustration from disappointment didn't make you so obnoxious. Move to Nederland, maybe you'll feel better. :) or better yet move to PNG, you'd probably fit right in!!
First of all I have moved to PNG and your so called rivalry does not appeal to me at all.  I have bad news, your so called rivalry exist merely on paper and history.  The rivalry exist now only in the amount of people that you can get to put on their purple and black shirts and attend the game on friday.  There is no hype, there is no build up of suspense between two communities fighting for bragging rights anymore.  Its just an exchange of wins, (yep its Nederlands turn this year to win) in the shadows of what USED to be one of the states greatests rivalaries!  Ive seen better plots than this played out in the pineywoods with 1A schools.  blaaaahhh  lol i laugh at your jealousy theory!!
Well said sir!  Very true as well.
both of your replies are just dumb. How can you say the rivalry isn't what it was? What WAS it before that it isn't now? When WAS that? the only difference between THEN and NOW ... is what exactly? Same stuff goes on, same passion, same trash talk, same attendance, same quality of teams,,, generally speaking. Some years both teams are good, some years neither teams are good. Same student participation, same old men talking about the history of the game at the donut shops.... I don't get your thoughts at all... As you guys say... Smh...

Was it a good game? I wanted to be at this game but I knew we would have a tough game with Ozen, which we did. I know Ned is good and they are still 20-4A champions until unseated which I dought this year it will happen. But that LCM team is no slough at all, is it?
they are pretty good...but I think for some reason Monte is being a little conservative on the play calling..but I am sure their is a reason for it..No need to start second guessing these coaches because the dogs are still getting the job done ;)
I'll gladly second guess ... Whatever that "reason" is, is exactly why we fall short year after year and we will probably never win a state championship. It's a shame because this team has the talent and skill.
7. Holy cow, I forgot Brad Sullivan. How is that even possible? Who could forget him eating up WOS with the QB draw over and over again in West Orange?

I tell you what is really fun to me is watching these kids become men over the last couple of decades. Its funny that I at 30 watched Troy Sumrall as a kid against Vidor and remember accidentally walking past him after the game and telling a teenage boy "good game son", now he does the exact same job as me, and we talk everyday and I consider him my friend, just a normal guy, coworker, father, friend. He's not the only one. I see ex BUlldogs now gorwn men all over the place, successful men.  Its just normal life, but its pretty neat the way my perspective changes on everything as I get older. I have two daughters (and a sweet stepdaughter) but no biological sons. Now to top it off, life has changed and God has blessed me with not one but TWO step sons, both really good football players who love the sport, both are starting in middle school and NYFL and will very likely be Bulldog Starters one day. I might actually get to watch my own kids play in the sport I have followed as a spectator for 2 decades!!!, I never expected that... You never know what life is going to bring you,,,, Life is FUN!

Some fans do take sports too far. The main ones to me are the ones in the stands that holler and curse at the coaches, players, refs, and even other fans at the actual contest. Now you are right that we shouldn't bash kids, but we neither should bash coaches. However, if you are stating facts, is it then still considered bashing? There's that gray area again. And if you made people put their real names up on here, then you will see some real fights in the future because I believe they're gonna say what they're gonna say regardless.
I had my real name up on this forum for years. Im not afraid to back up what I say. I just got sick of being the only one (besides James), and all the self righteous narcissists spewing their Joel Olsteenism holier than thou garbage from behind an alias.  :)
9. Well, I was a high school football forum fan before there were high school football forums. Literally, me and a few
Other folks who come here used to talk on a Beaumont enterprise open discussion back in 96. We said what we wanted because no one was watching. Now,,, EVERYONE is watching and everyone's a critic.
To me we should speak our minds here. Leave children's names out of negative (but honest) comments, but don't be afraid to tell the truth... Coaches however are fair game. They are grown men and fully realize the value of forum talk. There is no value, it's just idle Chatter. They know it, we know it. I say if it's honest, right or wrong.... It's your opinion... Let's hear it!!
10. This year I like Shaw, Taylor, Wood, Raines, Stampley, lots of fun players to watch. In the last 17 years Sumrall is my favorite and coincidentally a good friend and coworker now. I also loved Galassi, Boyd, Cobb, Smith, Peletiere, Atterbury, Mohica, McPherson, Mayhews, the Gentiles, Joseph Ramoine, and of course Micah... But Troy was the one, the one that started it all on the most exciting td run ever against Sweeney.. Boyd is second with the tip and interception in Rice stadium against friendswood in the most exciting win in Nederland history.

Michael, I don't usually agree with your assessments, but I see your point with the offense. They are just not very consistent and seem to rely on big plays. I don't want to get into specifics but we need to put people away and stop jacking around, it's very frustrating, I'll leave it at that.
that's okay , I don't usually agree with yours either. ;) but we can't all be right, wouldn't be any fun here. You'll get it right eventually. Lol, just kidding. All in fun.

Lol have you guys been watching the same ones I have? We put away Crosby and Goose Creek pretty handily, we went blow for blow against one of the best teams in the state in Angleton after overcoming four first quarter turnovers and were a two point conversion away from a potential win, and beat a very good Vidor team on the road in a hostile environment. In each of those games, we put together long, solid drives. I dont get it? You can't beat everyone 56-0.
yes ya can... :)
13. lol. 3 deep,,, woohoo. We've gone 3 deep too many times in Neumanns career. 3 deep is an okay year for Nederland. He's a great coach, I love the guy as our coach.  He and this team are better than 3 deep this year. Stop playing like a 3 deep team and start playing like state champs. This is the year, time to start thinking and playing like it. I predict Vidor 2 deep, Bulldogs State Finalist and possibly state champs 2012. Go get Dogs, this is the team to make it happen. Bye bye Vidorville, hello state finals. :)
14. GoDogs,
I guess I am just expecting a lot of this team. They have probably the most balanced team and the most skilled team I have ever seen in Nederland on both sides of the ball. All the key components are there to be a really truly dominant team in the state This year. I didn't want to go after the play calling because I'm trying to assume good intentions, but I thought it was play calling out of fear,,, playing flat out not to lose.... And it showed.... Just like in anything
sports excessive caution and fear result in injury and loss. I'm tired of see coaching scared. This team is awesome, trust them and turn them loose!. Stop being nice and screwing around with mediocre teams like Vidor. Open up that playbook put the hammer down and start running over these teams and playing like you are going to win a championship this year. Vidor was no better than Goose creek, but we played them scared (too careful) and it almost
Cost them a pointless loss. They'll be fine? Forget that. Go for it
Coaches, the worst thing that can happen is you lose a district game. But if you do youre not that good anyway. Pull outthe stops and start crushing teams and lets win it all this year.
15. Unless you have been following more than Vidor or (place your home team here) for the last 15 years I wouldn't expect you to understand. I know what I know, and again although I glad the Digs won, the fact that it was a close game against an average team, this year especially, was a disappointment. I know what state
Champs look like, neither looked even close
For this point in the season. :)

I know it's not a popular pov, but it doesn't change the fact. This Bulldog team has the size, speed, talent and experience to at least make it To a title game,,, or at least I thought so. I'm not giving up, just frustrated because all due respect to Vidor, a real contenders gonna destroy a small one dimensional team..
16. As a Nederland fan this was an extremely disappointing game. The win is good, but to struggle with Vidor who was a "good" team but far from elite says the Dogs are just "good" too. Vidor was a 2-3 deep team at best. I thought this was the year for the Dogs... It should be a good year but it looks like that elusive state contender is still something to hope for in years to come. :/
