1. Football is a violent contact sport. The fewer coaches you have, the fewer supervision there is if something goes wrong. I do not see how anybody would be for coaching cutbacks because it means less supervision for our children out there in practice and in games. If the state is going to cut school funding then they should allow non-school employees to volunteer and coach. the coaches may not like it and are probably happy that little johnny's dad can't join the staff right now because he is not a school employee. But the more coaches that get cut, the less supervision and instruction our kids get. I think the UIL should rethink its policy in these rough times.
2. Nederland already is at bare bones coaching staff at the MS level
3. some of them are on here: [Hidden Content]
4. AAW-Are these coaches being relieved of their coaching stipend and still teaching? Or are they being relieved of their duties with the district entirely?
5. When he came here from the Dallas/Ft Worth area I was told he was one of the best in the business
6. Hamshire-Fannett is holding a press conference Tuesday to announce they are hiring Steve Roccaforte. That is why he hasn't landed anywhere else as an asst. yet. He is ready to take this job.
7.
Dean Colbert to WO-S!!  :o
Is he related to the Supt? Nepotism is illegal in TX
8. I heard Barry Bowman is the frontrunner. An offer has been made but he hasn't accepted.
9. If we had a young team coming back next year I would be all for Cross. But the situation we are in... we have a bunch of seniors that are capable of winning. I'd like a coach with a little more experience to guide this bunch.
10. I don't know if Scooter is the right fit for OC. It would be a pretty dramatic overhaul to that Wing-T offense.
11. The more I read about Terry Evans the more I like. I feel like he is the Xs and Os coach/motivator that can help us win now yet at the same time building a program for the future like he has done at COU. You throw a proven winner like him in with this JUCO-laden team and he will win right away with them. We could make a tournament run. At the same time he would be taking the steps to build the program for the future and develop the proper recruiting relationships.
12. in the end i'm pretty sure we are going to have to go to some tiebreakers
hiring anyone because of color is bad business...black white yellow green
I understand. Keep in mind though that there are going to be several capable black coaches available for this job that have missed out on other jobs at major colleges because of those colleges' instiutional racism. Black coaches also have a much shorter leash than white coaches so a black coach that got fired from a job might not deserve it as much as a white coach who did.
