21-3A -Fight for 2nd place Spot- Running From Yates!!!
Ah, unlike suburban schools who don't cater to the lower socio-eco students, principals who have no choice but to take in troublesome students (somebody has to teach them) and mix them in with students who want to learn, I think should get principal of the year. More challenging. See, a low performing school does not mean students are not learning, it means those schools deal with issues suburban schools don't have to deal with. Kids at Yates are learning but the negative news outweighs the good.
Dove, based upon that VERY CRITERIA, then the Bridge City Basketball Coach should get more recognition than Mr. Wise, right? -

As is Houston Wheatley. And I can assure you, as Nash can probably verify, that Cornel Thompson has not submitted 41 PAPF forms for the 21-3A DEC to consider.
Nope- West Orange football is truly West Orange football and Dicky cant alter that fact either. -
I don't get to watch much of the heat before the playoffs and someone can help me out here if I am wrong. It seems to me that they go as LeBron goes. What I mean by that is...they are better, much better, when he gets the Jordan and Kobe syndrome...give me the ball. I believe for his talent, he is extremely unselfish and it hurts them when he is. Wade has not shown up this series at all. LeBron just needs to play like he did in Cleveland...just do it all. Should be a good game. Maybe this game from LeBron will shut Skip Bayless up...lol.
If it were that easy, Miami would have won 4 straight against both Indiana and Boston. LeBron is not going to shoot from the outside very often as he did Thursday night -
Boston shooting under 10% from behind the ark helps. You can support Spoelstra all you want but he's an average head coach at best (by all means much better than I could do). When a team can't produce good quality shots from running plays I think that's on the coach. Just give the ball to LeBron and run things through him seems to be their best offense (not saying I disagree with that), but it's tough to live by that the last two minutes of a game when the game is on the line and the other teams defense plays at a higher intensity. I believe you have said you are a diehard Celtics fan...I think you could agree they didn't have a very good game. LeBron won that game tonight, from start to finish.
Agree _ never have seen LeBron shoot that well all game from the outside. Tough job for Celtics now in Miami -
I don't think any of the big three go. I think Spolstra is out...possibly no matter what the outcome of the season is. Perhaps Pat comes back or they make a run at Phil.
Well, Miami has a 23 point lead with 5 minutes left in Boston. What is different about Spoelstra tonight vs two nights ago? -
Boston better play outstanding, because they will get the best the Heat have tonight.. Worst thing for Boston is that Bosh will be starting.. Garnet has to be dominant, Rondo has to be on point, and Pierce better be on fire
Everything you just stated applies equally to James, Wade and Bosh.
If you kill 1 person, or 41, you still go to prison.....My point is you cannot continue to slap Yates on the wrist with allegations, when HJ has done (accepted transfers) the EXACT same thing!
I still contend that recruiting takes place at Yates and it does not at HJ. You demanded honesty a while ago and now permit me to ask you to "man up" on this situation. If the transfer you are questioning had decided to leave Central and go to Ozen, you would have had NO PROBLEM with it at all. Furthermore, what you resent the most is that you feel that the aforementioned individual abandoned "the cause" that is so important to you. As for your "murder illustration", here is another way to look at it. OJ didnt go to prison and Mr. Zimmerman probably won't either. Ted Bundy did. -

According to Johnson's transfer paperwork, he did not move to HJ for athletic reasons, therefore he was allowed to play varsity ball the first year, unlike those at Yates (and sadly, even Silsbee) had to play JV ball their first year of transfer. It was deemed they moved for athletic reasons or had not established residency.
The issue at Yates WAS residency. I know what the paperwork may say in the HJ case but, do you honestly think that kids parents said: Hmmmm, I think we will enroll our son in HJISD because they have better scenery and the academics are better..." NO....Resounding NO...
Even more sad - You believe that YOU know more and are better qualified to make those judgements than the District Committees. And you also KNOW that those 41 people coming into Yates are not there because of basketball. This all began because so many people seem to have noticed an abnormally large number of kids moving to Yates and all you can do is talk about 1 that has moved to HJ. -

The box was checked "no" and signed by Rodney Saveat and a Central high official. Are you calling them liars?
Nope...certain guys have the attitude that if he wants to leave, let them go...I think, knowing Rodney Savaet, that was his stance..
DV- If I am understanding you correctly, this is what you are suggesting: 1. There is a strong possibility that the transfer from Central to HJ (again 1 in five years) transferred for athletic purposes 2. At the same time, the 41 kids( not one infive years but FORTY ONE RIGHT NOW- yet you wish to consider them as similar circumstances) who are trying to get into Yates are NOT trying to join the basketball program and have NEVER had a conversation with Mr. Wise about joining the program prior to submitting their application. When you have a chance, get on google and try to find something that will instruct you about joining the real world.
Who says they are NOT coming for other reasons other than basketball? Yates has a magnet school of communications careers, you know...Kids love radio and television too...I GUARANTEE they are not all basketball related..Not even 1/4 of them...1/8!....1/10th!! GUARANTEE IT..
If he signs off saying the transfer was not for athletic purposes and you say that the kid did transfer for athletic purposes, then you are calling Rodney Saveat a liar. As for Yates, let's look at their 10 year window that you specified: 2002 - Low performing 2003 - NR 2004 - Unacceptable 2005 - Acceptable 2006 - Unacceptable 2007 - Acceptable 2008 - Acceptable 2009 - Acceptable 2010 - Acceptable 2011 - Unacceptable Yeah, I would want my kid going to THIS school for an education. Game over, insert quarter and try again.
L O L L O L L O L L O L -

I know 2 of the other JV players from last year and they were not ready for Varsity ball, but my my how they have gotten better. I cannot wait to see how they play this fall, it is great to see young men become better and work so hard.
I agree. Just think- not only do you have the good players that are from Yates, but 41 more trying to transfer in. It makes things more than equitable, dont you agree? It seems a little silly to suggest that for any reason OTHER than everyone is trying to go to school there, that the team is so good. I't's gonna take DV a little time to respond because, for the sake of maintaining his self appointed image of " knowing everything" he is going to have to research the 41 incoming freshmen story and try to spin it some way by either saying he knew about it or it is no different than 1 transfer coming to HJ over the last 5 years. Definitely very "similar' situations. ;D
So what! 41 STUDENTS want to attend a school that is rich in tradition...Does that mean they were recruited somehow to play basketball? NO...and as for those TEA ratings...I said BISD as a whole, NOT Central High alone....Please do not insult my intelligence by trying to somehow prove that the kid who transferred to HJ did not go for ATHLETIC PURPOSES...NOT TRYING TO HEAR THAT.
No doubt about it. Rodney Saveat is a liar and Yates has 41 new "HOMEGROWN" applicants By the way BISD as a whole has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO with the situation you described. The situation obviously entails Central and HJ. That is your weakest crawfish effort yet. Bottom line (of course you will never admit) is that you regard the young man in question as a "basketball Uncle Tom". Yes, that one transfer in 5 years is terrible, but 41 applicants at Yates is fine. OUTSTANDING logic. -
Rivers, The Indiana Coach, Carlisle last year. The Heat look like they have no idea what's going on when they try to run a play.
I think Spoelstra is simply a convenient scapegoat. He has access to one of the best coaches ever in Pat Riley. Also, if he had the best record in the East this year, made it to the NBA finals last year, and is in the semi finals this year, I find it hard to declare him a bad coach. Give Boston credit. Spoelstra didnt lose this game, the Celtics won it.
