I didn't say Yates recruited ;D
You may not have said it but you know it.
This is major if The DEC votes against the transfers. You're talking about prime [s]time[/s]...err rib 100% real beef recruits here. Too bad HJ isn't in that region. It would have given their program some hope ;D
According to you, only the above named team and Yates have any chance/hope, so why confine your comments to lowly HJ who doesnt even play real basketball?
More on this ridiculous mess with PP: [Hidden Content] interesting part of the article: The District 11-3A Executive Committee also met Wednesday to consider eligibility of Prime Prep's entire basketball team... and what a team it would be — made up of some of the nation’s top college recruits, many of them transferring (along with their coach) from one of the top teams in the country last year, Arlington Grace Prep. To be eligible to play this year, they would have to move into the Dallas ISD attendance zone and could not be recruited. Sanders insists they all transferred legitimately. Committee members expressed doubts. "When I see a whole basketball team transition to another school along with their coach? Now let's talk about the kids, because I'm going to have to go back to Ferris and I'm going to have to tell my kids what's going on,†said Ferris High School head football coach Aaron Emeyabbi. The committee later inspected, then rejected, every one of Sanders' basketball transfer forms, sending them back for proof of proper residency. Like I said, I will be very surprised if PP plays a varsity basketball schedule this year.
What a shame. An innocent group who so scrupulously adhered to all the rules and still got the shaft.

Dove, wasnt it you who said that coaches from outside of Beaumont dont come to this area to look at basketball players?
Really? My son didn't tell me he had out of state colleges looking at him.
That's because if he gets a free ride he figures he can buy a brand new car with what you have saved for his college years.

THis could possibly be the first time Dove was wrong about something. ( if we dont count the predicted 2012 state title for the Longhorns)

Gates are split between the two schools, and not sure about the concession revenue.
My guess is that an amount like that will be more than offset by larger attendance.
So I see HJ was entitled to certain privileges ;D Do tell, please. Tell me how HJ was entitled to what privileges. Hard for me to discern that when the two school superintendents mutually agreed to this venue. Entitlement: belief that one is deserving of or entitled to certain privileges

i would think the biggest reward for this game being played at a larger site would be getting inside the door to actually watch the game. Especially for anyone that had to leave work early or not go to work at all just to have the opportunity to watch their team play. It drove me crazy not making it to the game in Silsbee last year. Although I was thankful that I could listen to the game, I would have much rather have been inside watching it. I made sure to be at HJ to get in line at 3:00.
Very good point. This should alleviate that problem and nobody needs to get there any earlier than they would for any other district game. From my perspective, it looks like a decision that was made in full consideration of the fans.

But some on here who are practicioners extraordinaire of the class envy tactic, tried to imply that somebody else manipulated that decision.
Ahhh! So, which "Class" is paying for this event?
Hmmm- let me see- Since this is sponsored by two schools who operate at the expense of the taxpayer, I would have to believe that all classes are probably involved. I would also venture to guess that this event will likely pay for itself in terms of revenues from the gate vs expenses for holding the games at Ford Park. Am always gratified to see someone from the left be concerned about expenses. That is very much a rarity. Or maybe the real concern is that someone other than the rich might have to participate in the costs?
My next question is: How much /many entitlements are being given towards this event?
Not sure. How many need to be given in order to make things "fair"?
My point was that if you were "inside my mind" , you could influence me to vote for Obama. Therefore, you are a very long way from being inside my mind. What do you think about the Hawk football team who is 3-1 and was only a yard away from a score that would have made them 4-0?
Proud of them! Time for district now!
Proud? That's good. Because it seems that it wasnt that long ago that you were advocating HJ eliminating football.

How did they do in the playoffs?
Ohhh! Sounds like you're saying they folded under playoff pressure. Would you also be saying the current Silsbee team remind you of the 96-97 team?
Why does it sound that way? The current Silsbee team was only a couple of points away from going to Austin last year- that hardly qualifies as folding. Good try, though
Basketball coaches have passed on the 'weak ' scheduling philosophy to the football coaches!
I think the schedule has been pretty much the same for a number of years. Dont get me wrong, I am the last one who would declare that HJ suddenly is a football powerhouse. At the same time, the consensus was that this year would provide them with only 1 win. Therefore, they are a couple ahead of the predicitions and any other wins would be "gravy". I do know that a number of teams will take them lightly and that would be understandable. It would appear that the HJ weak basketball schedule has not done much damage to them.
