Being the fastest player on the court or the highest jumper assures one of very little.
No, but I think when you come across "da quickest player(s) ALONG WITH having a high basketball IQ does make a difference ;)
Of course it will, but unless the other 4 players are also in the same category, there are ways to counter the speed/quickness of a single player. My experience suggests to me that most of those endowed with that much quickness tend to not fully develop that IQ of which you speak because the quickness has always separated them from everyone else. I am speaking, of course, about junior high and high school players. Nederland and HJ would seem to validate my theory, don't you think?
In past years, yes!!! ;D
So my theory "used" to be valid but not anymore? Please elaborate or is this just another " I "heard" a billionaire gave money to Obama" comment?
Times change!
Then you are predicting that, this season, under the "new changed times" that the only teams who will do well are those that have relatively high speed and quickness? I guess I am definitely a dinosaur because I thought skill and IQ still played a major part in high school basketball. I guess we will see pretty soon and, of course, I will be checking back with you so you can validate/substantiate your "changed times" contention. Gotta go. Am sending an email to Princeton to tell them they are going 0-30 this year. Also gotta tell Paul Pierce to retire because he is in "the new times" where he cannot compete.
Yates also seemed to have a problem with Clear Springs yesterday.....Yates won 63-57. We lost to Clear Springs by 2 points and would have played Yates if we had won this game.
Gee- I once again repeat my question- Is it possible that Yates is not quite as invincible as once portrayed?

Hmmm- is it the "slightest" possibility that Yates is not as impressive as they are "painted" on this board?
Yates wins on defense and :-X
From an eye witness who was at the game, Central had no problem with their 'defense'/press. Maybe Wise is the X factor in which you are keeping silent about?
If he were that much of a "magician" and master strategist, wouldnt he be doing his job in NCAA or NBA?

If they are down to six players ( as previously stated) and one of them is hurt, is it worth the risk of aggravating the injury for a game that has no bearing on the success of the team in the upcoming season?
-
Just a short note/fyi- Devante Johnson is being recruited as a point guard and will put in plenty of time this season at that position. While I am in no position to "declare" who is the best point guard, my guess is that he is as efficient as generating a quality shot on his own as anybody in the area. He will also be regarded favorably in 3 point shooting.

Another way, in fact, that you ought to relish. Since Yates would beat HJ by 30 or 40, can we conclude that Central will beat Hj by at least 35 or 45 if they meet in their early season game as they have the last several years?
Nope! Nash you know "good-n-well" its all about match-ups. HJ will match up well with Central. The kids know each other and those other variables will fall into place. ;)
Why would HJ match up well with a team that beat Yates and yet would lose to Yates by more than 30?
Yates had about 25 players on their bench. Had to be 9th grade on up. I predict Wise will leave Yates within two years.
Yes, he will because he is now on the radar screen.
I've been saying Central has an all star team. They will win district, regionals, and go to Austin. Don't you guys read?
Yes, we read. But we also often read all of your commentaries on Yates- and there is NO COMPARISON. If your comments regarding Centrals "all star" status are true, then surely, you are predicting an undefeated walk through district for them?
-
If my eyes dont deceive me, I just read the following emboldened words on another post. Jim Hicks @RcsSports Central is in semis with 51-50 victory over Yates. #super16 Since Yates had 25 players suited up, how did this "invincible" team lose to a Beaumont school? You have always implied/suggested that this was simply impossible.

KP was a very poised team and didn't let the JY mystique get into their heads. They broke the Jack Yates' press and hit their open shots. I could see JY had a few problems with KP. KP's mystique was opposite of JY's. To look at KP, JY came in over confident. JY realized in the 4th quarter , this team wasn't going away until they (JY) realized hardwork beats talent.
The score was the score and you cant spin it away.
Yes I can!! ;D
I guess you can if you think convincing only yourself has value
You guys say no way Silsbee comes within 30 points of Yates but kingwood park barley lost to Yates in the 2nd or 3rd round last year and Silsbee did beat kingwood park a few years back but what did kingwood park do to slow down and almost upset Yates last year in the playoffs.
And HJ beat them last year prior to district competition.

Dove, wasnt it you who said that coaches from outside of Beaumont dont come to this area to look at basketball players?
Really? My son didn't tell me he had out of state colleges looking at him.
That's because if he gets a free ride he figures he can buy a brand new car with what you have saved for his college years.
No free ride but hoping scholarships help pave the way for a college degree.
After last nights debate might want to reconsider - why not have the governmont pick up my kids tab?
Of course. Our society is being conditioned to believe that the government can and will solve all issues "fairly".
I agree! Maybe smack up on Yates and a win vs Oak Hill or someone of that caliber.
Santa, didnt you just say that they could not get within 30 points of those types of teams?
Problem with that!
Yes, I was under the impression that the best PG in SE Texas was one player.

Two players from the same school are the best point guard in SE Texas? Hmmmm
Wow- I thought that Silsbee has already built a very solid program.
Hmmm! So, now you're thinking Silsbee's program isn't as solid as some thought and will take time to rebuild. Unlike HJ, whose program is solid and ready to compete for district champs.
Perhaps I dont understand your post Dove. It would seem that I stated that Silsbee ALREADY has a solid basetkball program but you tell me I am "thinking" it isn't solid? Very confusing.

You're talking about prime [s]time[/s]...err rib 100% real beef recruits here. Too bad HJ isn't in that region. It would have given their program some hope ;D
According to you, only the above named team and Yates have any chance/hope, so why confine your comments to lowly HJ who doesnt even play real basketball?
LOL! I love you man-nn!!! I still want to see your program meet up with one of them. Would be interesting. Yall got a pretty good butt't coach over there.
And why do you want to see a small school playing by the rules play against a large school who is unable/unwilling to field a team under the same guidelines? I guess this is where I say I would like to see Yates go up against Lamar. ( and before you come back with some cute comment that it would be a contest we both know that is a joke) Furthermore, so much time and effort has been made to discredit Hj basketball, I really dont understand why anyone ever wants to talk about them. I never see many conversations about Bridge City basketball or Kirbyville basketball or Deweyville basketball, etc etc etc. Since HJ,(by virtue of the discrediting process) has been lumped into that arena, why does anyone care if they are capable of winning anything on that weak schedule?
