Zach is good but don't tell him I said it. :D
BOOM! Busted [s]2[/s] [s]days[/s] 3 days in a row!  ;D Zach is a good shooting guard, and he has shown improvements with his ability to get to the hole. He's played point guard mostly over the past 2 years  because he handles the ball better than anyone else on the team. He is going to do whatever is best for the team to win. I think he is more of a 2 guard, and that's where universities will need him to play if he gets an offer at the next level. His defense and foot work need improvement, but his outside shooting is what colleges will want him to do. I admitted on a previous thread that I don't know what it takes to play D1 basketball, so I don't know if Zach has 'it'. For now, I'm sure he is focused on the present and enjoying his senior season with his friends/teammates. I thought Kelvin Smith was good enough to play at the next level, but i think colleges saw him as a 'tweener'. I also thought Prudhomme would have received offers to bigger schools too. My point is that I really don't know what it takes to be a D1 or D1AA player.
Congrats Abe- Your admission applies to most of us.  The advantage you may have over others is that "you know what you don't know"

 9.
Nash, I'm seeing first hand how you and DickieV ruin most threads on here.  Maybe its not as much his fault as I originally thought.  You guys invented the game of basketball out there in Sour Lake so what I'm about to say will probably be old news to you, but I'll say it anyway. Defense is played by staying between your man (or the ball) and the goal.  That means when a player has a tendency to go right and a tendency to pump fake, a good defender will take that into account and stay on the ground.  Nothing about that is a difficult concept, yet not many high school basketball players do that consistently.  Therefore, it is simple.  I never said the kid was easy to stop. Then again, what do I know about basketball?  I don't even have that many posts on an internet message board!
I dont claim ( and never have) to have some magical knowledge about basketball that every other enthusiast doesnt already have.  In case you havent noticed, this is an opinion board and therefore, I am as entitled to my opinion as you are to yours.  By the way, if you understand the tendency to pump fake( that you seem to think is not understood in Sour Lake), does that mean after one pump fake has been given that the defender should go after the next effort or does he stay on the ground?( if my memory is correct, Oscar often took his shot after two or three pump fakes)  I further suggest to you that if these "tendencies" are sufficiently discovered and the  various defenders apply your theory, an intelligent player will attempt to exploit what the defense is "giving".  I happen to believe Mr. Weisbrod is more than capable of recognizing what is being "given" and will take advantage of it if the "other side" is being overplayed.
Let me see if I understand you again.  First you said that stopping him was not difficult but he was the best basketball player in the area.  Now you say it's not easy to stop him but it's simple? 12.
You stop Weisbrod by taking away his right and staying on the ground.  He will spin and spin and spin again, but he will eventually end up to the right.  He's truly about 6'2 to 6'3 so a good defender ought to be able to stay on the ground to affect his shot.  Just my opinion.  He is the best post player in the area, though.  Best overall player, as well.
If you think it is fairly easy to stop him, how can you follow up by saying he is the best post player in the area and maybe best overall as well?  I have the feeling if you "take away his right" to solidly, he is smart enough to make you pay on the other side.

 15.
6 samples of anything is enough for you to for a opinion. So if I watch 6 games and see that a player struggles with his free throw, then I can for the opinion that he needs to practice free throws. Maybe he just missed 8 of 10 at the 6 games I attended.
If you watch Ray Allen play 6 games and he shoots 25% from three point range, are you going to suggest that he needs practice?

 20.
I'm hearing there is a kid from Central and maybe a kid from Ozen who are underclassmen that could have some potential. IMO Silsbee has some very good guards who could play in the college level with a little more work. Chris Elam has a very consistent jump shot but should continue to work on his long range shooting. Holmes has the skill to drive to the hole and shoot. He just needs to develop his jump shot a little better as well. Bosha from Hardin Jefferson is a kid who has all the skills and height to get some strong college looks as well. Deadly 3 point shoot, but takes too many from like 28 feet out. Good Luck to all the SETX basketball teams this year. I'd love to see 2 or 3 teams make a strong run to Austin.
Santa- You havent seen Bosha play near enough to offer judgement on his shot selection.  Two or three games doesnt tell the whole story.  Besides, if you feel he has a deadly shot, why are you complaining about his shot selection?
I 100% agree with your emotional attachment statement.
Good points! Here is what I see often. A young kid grows fast and its just natural to want to put him on the block. And usually , he never works on improving his game (on their own time) to get better. So he graduates from high school with no "point forward" or guard skills because now, he's ONLY 6'5" or shorter. I see too many kids playing in the moment and not preparing for the future. Hmmmm?
I understand what you are saying. Not sure the last time you saw him play, but he is NOT simply a block player. Not gonna give you too much info or you might figure out how to stop him.  ::) BD3-I would pay good money to see you try to 'stop him'. Maybe Nash can get a charity event together, an the highlight will be BD3 attempting to stop all the post players from the area!  ;D You game BD3?  8)
Two words! Brandon Green. Wish he had stayed  at Ozen.
Ohh wow!  Where did he go?  He was a good looking sophmore from last year that was comming into  his own!
North Shore High.
Ohh.  I see.  Playing his last 2 years with Dad.  I thought that's what Trey Green was going to do last year.  I wish him luck.  Ozen will be losing a lot from this kid.
Yep, the one player in the district who could contain Nederland's post to 4 points, 2 rebounds, & 0 assists  ;D
::) ::)
;D ;D
There can be more players that can do that.  All you have to do is "impart that secret knowledge" on them.
 24. If there was a way to "stop" Weisbrod, it would have already happened.  There are plenty of good basketball minds out there and my guess is that whatever Dove "knows" is not truly exclusive "knowledge"
 25. I believe "stop" is an over used and over rated term.  LeBron James covered Rondo in one of the playoff games for the bulk of the game and Rondo only got 46 in that one and he is not a very good shooter according to the myriad of "experts".  Stop implies shutting somebody totally down whereas if we get realistic, NOBODY that is decent is going to be totally shut down by someone else of a comparable experience background.  .  Additionally, in the first Silsbee - HJ game last year when Silsbee press was giving HJ fits, Mr. Bosha was the ONLY ball handler who did not turn it over.  Only problem was he was not given that ball handling opportunity until late in the third quarter.
