But what ever makes u feel better. Sorta like 5-5 and stocky is better than 6-5 and skinny.
The original concept for 'Magnet" schools was to jump start integration, at least in the larger cities. Maybe in the smaller towns like Beaumont,  it was started for a different reason.
The original concept for ACORN was an honorable one, also.
Excuse my ignorance, but what is open enrollment?
Some schools are willing to accept students who dont live in the schools vicinity if students are willing to pay tuition.  Not many students who have to pay tuition at a public school make that move so the answer is no, it does not compare to the magnet school situation.
Dove is pretty confident that all of those Houston schools run a clean and integrity-laden program.
I'm just saying its too late. Dallas area was still out of control. Houston schools are going by the rules. Kid tried to transfer and play last year at Yates. They did not let him play varsity, so he went back to his original school.
So, he DID transfer Yates for Basketball purposes, right? I thought these kids were transferring to Yates bc it is a Magnet School for academics? ???
Dicky V and Dove remain hopeful that someone accepts/believes that assertion.

 6.
And heres the crazy part. If Primetime Prep plays 3-A this season, its just not fair for Yates. So you can just imagine whats gonna happen to the local area schools...*ahem* HJ  ;D
HJ will never face Yates or Prime Prep because they wont make it out of district thereby making the Dove the happiest man on earth.
 7.
Dickie V too busy right now to respond  ;) Go Yates!!!!
I agree- 'Go Yates - Pure as the wind driven snow
 8. Interesting news about Kimball.  Looks like the big bosses are starting to examine things a little more closely.  Hmmm- I wonder if this kind of activity is confined to Dallas only?  My guess is that "recruiting" may drop off substantially in some other parts of the state or the same result will take place in more than Dallas.  Perhaps " Build It And They Will Come" might be a less effective mantra in the future.  What do you think, Dickie, Dove?

They will go to State this year.
Since when did Central drop to 3A? ???
Abe, some Central people are are talking like they will have a cake walk in their district. I'm just agreeing with what they are saying, even though its off topic 8)  Maybe we should star a new thread on why and how Central will beat Nederland in district , win regionals, and go on to win in Austin. And all in the same year ;D
Dove- I want you to start another thread entitled " I would give my left arm if HJ didnt win a game this year"
 10.
A thief doesn't care if its his money or someone's else. Look @ Wall Street ;)
It's one thing to call someone a thief and quite another to substantiate it.  I happen to believe that there are a large number of "thieves" abusing the welfare system- don't you?  Would you be interested in seeing the video of the auto workers smoking pot on their lunch hour?  From my perspective, that is a kind of thievery as well.
 11.
Prime Prep will win 3-A if allowed to play as scheduled.
yes they will- fairly, squarely, and with an abundance of integrity

 13. You must not have been reading this board for very long.  Yates is 100% infallible and can never lose to anyone.
 14.
Dallas Kimball will likely repeat....sorry Central peeps.  Beaumont always has athletes and thats how they win....  Kingwood Park will be tough, because they are so disciplined and very well coached unlike beaumont.  I would like to see them and Nederland square off
Would someone please remind Dove that lowly HJ beat Kingwood Park last year.  I think that was one year after Kingwood Park beat Ozen in the playoffs.

But looking at the competition out of Houston, one or more S.E.Texas area schools from 4-A may make a huge impact and make a serious drive to Austin ;)
It is setup in a way that the 1st and 2nd place team from each district can meet in the regional championship game if they both get that far. Would be great to see two 20-4A teams battling it out in Katy. Was it LaMarque (2 yeaes ago) who lost to Galveston Ball in BOTH district games, then beat Ball in the Reg Final?
Yeah, I think so. Don't mind Nash, he's still trying to find a way to stop Yates thru UIL ;D
Why would I care about Yates?  The team I follow is unlikely to even go 500 in district with that weak pre district schedule and lack of knowledge of sport specific training.

He hasn't mentioned the players who enrolled at PP. Its a wrap ;D
Dove- Why didnt you answer my inquiry about equity and fairness and equal opportunities?  Surely you feel that PP meets those qualifications?  If Vidor can get Kevin Durant to play for them this year, your Ozen boys are toast.
Ozen is just too young this year to really make an impact in the district.
Ok- Vidor can wait 2 years to get Durant- Same result

Prime Prep has been granted permission to play in the 3-A Division beginning this season. Its a wrap fellas. Yates probably won't even win State this year. So you know local powerhouses are playing for pride this year to see who will represent this area only to lose in the regionals to Yates.  :'(
Dove- Since you are a man that preaches equity and fairness and level playing fields, I know this makes you very happy.

I didn't say many people, I said me! Plus, I thought we were discussing D-1 talent, NBA. FYI, Tack Minor had a successful D-1 career ;)
Point being, that at any level, even the alleged experts can be wrong.  As for Mr. Minor, my point again was that his "successful d-1 career" was considerably less than what the consensus prognostication implied.
