6 pages of complaining about Yates ::) ::) Some HJ fans would have a coronary, if they were ever to get moved into 21 3A (not going to happen) ;D ;D
Lets get things straight.  I am the only one complaining about Yates and I have been doing it for several years-long before HJ had to play them.  They dont belong in 3-a let alone 21-3a and even at the 4-a level, they have means of acquiring players that most of their competitors do not.  Its the truth and everybody knows it.
I remember these days [Hidden Content] Dove- I would be willing to bet that you dont know more than five or 6 dads at most of the Yates players if you know that many.
I'd be willing to bet you I've played against at least two of them (dads), and know 5-6 of the players  ;) Pops tried to get you to stay home but you wanted to live in the suburbs, away from your mixed family. Thats why you don't know any of these people  ;D
I know that the majority of the players are not from the Yates area.  And, regarding Pops, did you ever see the movie " The Jerk" starring Steve Martin?
Yep! But you and Martin are totally on different spectrum.

Nash not stirring the pot or anything just wondering why did hj/twincounty litttle dribblers play games in the beaumont little dribbler league. If it was just to get more games in hats off to whom every thought of the idea. or was that not the case.
NOt aware of any HJ little ddribblers playing in Beaumont unless it was senior because they didnt have enough to make a league.  EVery other division played a complete season along with a post season tourney and it finished last week.
 4.
I thought HJ was made up of athletes that couldnt make it at West Brook and Central and Ozen to be honest. Surprised me that they have that many kids in the sour lake area
The vast majority of HJ players have grown up in the HJ district and played in the HJ Little Dribblers Program.  That's what troubles some people.  Considering the fact that this is a small and fairly rural community, they have been able to compete at a high level in basketball for many years.  Do they get a move in periodically?  Sure, every school does at one time or another.  However, they never have 40 transfer applicants in a single fall prior to school opening  and they never continually have 5 or 6 players at 6'5" to 6'8" who can play that "just happened to be in their district".  In fact, my guess is that the Yates district is one of a very few who amazingly produces this types of players year in and year out.  It doesnt take a brain surgeon to know what's going on.  If you dont want to call it recruiting, thats fine.  But most fully understand the situation.
Thats where you're wrong, my friend...I know exactly what I am talking about and you know it... ;)...I give you a hard time about HJ, but fact is, YOU HAVE gotten kids in that came there JUST FOR BASKETBALL...Do you dispute that?
No, thats where you are wrong, my friend.  One transfer in five years is quite a different story from the one I am concerened about.

Get over it bro! It could have been worst!
The proper word is worse, not worst.  As previously stated many times before Yates was even reclassified as 3-a( hence it has nothing to do with the HJ loss to Yates), they dont acquire their players in the same manner that other schools do.  IF the loss at Yates was the problem, I would have been complaining about a similar type loss to Central early in the year.
How does HJ "acquire" players, nash? Please, do tell... ::) ::)....Do they open their gym doors in the summer and allow kids to come play? If they are impressed by the program, and decide to come to your school, do they turn them away? I think not.... ::).....OR does HJ play with "homegrown talent"? If they did, in basketball, they would NOT survive...(see Lumberton, Bridge City, PNG, and ask how that homegrown talent works out in their communities) ;)
Dickie- You are now officially in territory where you have no idea what you are talking about.  The vast percentage of HJ players are products of the community and the Twin County Little Dribblers program which is one of the better programs around and hence they develop their players.  If you are so confident of what you are saying, give me 5 names of players who played at HJ in recent years ( and made meaningful contributions)who are NOT products of the school district.  FYI- Lumberton, Bridge City and PNG do not place much emphasis on basketball as HJ does.  Bridge City has one of the better baseball programs in the state and it is done with homegrown/developed talent.

 10. Depends on whether or not you are OJ Simpson or Casey Anthony.
You know that there is a difference... ::) ::)....I KNOW that Greg Wise is no "recruiter"...By any stretch of the imagination...If his name were BILL KRUEGER and the school were in a suburb such as Clear Lake, it would be "acceptable" for kids to go there, wouldn't it?  ::)
You and I both know that Mr. Krueger never had a continual stream of move ins.  As I said before, you dont have to call it recruiting but the school still acquires the bulk of its players in a manner different from those with whom it competes.  Two from Africa coming for communications excellence?  Give me a break.  I wonder if Mr. Wise coaches basketball in any other form other than at Yates?    I wonder if any of the kids who play (have played) for him(in those alternate formats) wound up being students at Yates?  Someone on here who is from Houston recently stated that the team had 6 players on it that were not some type of "move in".  By the way, your racial inferences are also losing credibility.
 13. Many people "knew" Lance Armstrong.
 14.
Please note that sometimes "takes" CAN mean gladly accepts a kid (or kids) and then tries to condemn other schools that happen to get kids that transfer into their school in the Houston area....and sarcastiscally mocks said program, because they have an excellent magnet school of communications... ::) ::)
Also, please note that 1 transfer in five years is somewhat different than 40 this past August who, rest assured, were not coming for communications excellence.  Get a new excuse, that one has ZERO credibility.  Are you not curious as to why the girls program doesnt have nearly the success that the boys does?
 15.
In this instance? Absolutely.  ;)
I believe it was Lance Armstrong, who, for a very long time, was as adamant as you are right now.  You dont have any way of knowing whether a parent or two told this individual what he claims he was told. Is this sort of like "Mack" Scalabrini?
 16. So we are to assume that all that you say is the gospel and everything this other individual had to say is an untruth?
 17.
What do you mean by "takes"?
He also mentioned kids ( as in plural)    Who are these kidS Dickie and what school did they leave to attend which one?
 18. Then if its just senseless lies with no credibility, why even pay him the time of day?
LOL! I talk with one of The Defender coaches at least twice a month. In fact, I was in my hometown (Houston)  YESTERDAY and talked with him for over an hour. Hmmm, come to think of it, I know most of the parents on that team. Also, there is nothing wrong with Wise coming to their practices. He has players on that team. Go to enough of those top tier team practices and you will see other high school coaches just being in a gym on a weekend getting the smell of sweat and rubber, cause they can't get enough of it. I tell you what you do with your opinion, next time, get one of your parents  to make accusations like this on this forum. And I can ask them some point blank questions  ;)
Well lets see there Dove...sense attending summer practices, where your players attend, is a direct violation of UIL rules, I guess there is something wrong with it.  And my quote about Wise trying to get a player to move there came directly from a parent whose son has been on the team for a couple of years.
You really need to leave this alone. You really don't know what you are typing about  ;D
Dove, why are you so adamant that this individual should not be able to give out his interpretation of things?
