  1. Thanks East Tx...that's a good group of kids. They finished 4th last summer at the Little Dribblers National Tournament, so they've got some talent. BC's 9th grade team gave them fits, both games were close. Should be some good battles in the future between these two.
  2. Bridge City is the best team I've seen all year...very good!!! Hats off to Orangefield's freshmen team. Still undefeated in district and has only lost one game all year I believe and that came this past weekend in the championship game of the LCM tournament to PN-G. Future looks bright at Orangefield in Volleyball. Both 7th and 8th grade teams are undefeated as well!!!
  3. I have the following, please correct me if I'm wrong. I need the score from their first game. Silsbee 0 PN-G 43 Silsbee 21 Newton 41 Silsbee ? Hst Sterling ? ? Thanks in advance!!!
  4. I don't see how some of you can pick HJ to finish that high. Didn't they just get drove by East Chambers. Orangefield and HF played them a lot closer. How they can be picked ahead of OF and HF blows my mind.
  5. I know this is a football thread, but just heard that there was a shooting near or at Central High School. Anyone have any info on this?
  6. #5 Ryan Granger, he's a senior and it doesn't look too good. Early word is a torn ACL, he will see a doctor Saturday. And it happen on the 2nd play from scrimmage...poor kid has battled injuries all year. First game back last week and he played well against East Chambers gaining almost a 100 yards on like 12 carries. He was the one true back we had that had some speed, you just have to feel for a kid like that being a senior. Hats off to Splendora, they just pounded us with the run all night long. Their offensive line is huge and we had no answer to their power running game. Good Luck to you guys!!!
  7. Sounds like both teams haven't played to their full potential yet, so I'm expecting a very good competitive game tonight. Both teams are better than their records indicate and both have played two solid football teams. Splendora is huge up front and runs right at you...hopefully Orangefield can keep their offense off the field and play ball control themselves. I just hope our kids are focused right now. They've had a major shakeup in their daily routines the last two days with no school and no power in the Orangefield area. Hopefully they can shake that off and get their first win tonight. Go Cats!!! Orangefield 20 Splendora 14
  8. Did someone say Kelly could beat Orangefield and Lumberton...ha ha...that's like saying Bleed Orange is skinny!!!
  9. Dexter Hebert had over 400 yards against Bridge City in the early 90's...not sure of the exact yardage!
  10. Looks like the HF coaches are wearing neck ty's(is that how you spell it)...nice touch, I kind of like that!!!
  11. East Chambers didn't struggle...they have a good football team, but so does Orangefield. Orangefield just wore them out by running right at them. If Orangefield has a little bit more time, they might have even tied the game, just ran out of time. Give East Chambers credit, they found a way to hang on and win the game...but it wasn't because they struggled tonight...they were in a war, so give some credit to Orangefield here too. We're young and it showed at times tonight with a costly holding penalty in the red zone and a costly fumble in the red zone too. Orangefield played good enough tonight to win, but came up short. And even though we didn't win, the Bucs know they were in a war tonight...both teams left it all on the field and both teams were wore out. Great game tonight between two good football teams!!!
  12. This will be a good football game, both teams are better and both like to run the ball. It will be close, but I think with Liberty being at home they have a slight edge. But I want be surprised if HF pulls it out!!!
  13. Wow...maybe Orangefield should just skip this weeks game, since they don't have a chance anyway...and start preparing for Splendora next week.
  14. I thought we were prepared last week...coaches can't make tackles and they can't get out there and block either. Simple football, if you don't do either of these your not going to win many games!!!
  15. I think a lot of people on this board see that Orangefield and Buna score and think Orangefield is not very good. They are very young and a lot of kids played their first game under the Friday night lights. Add that inexperience with 5 turnovers, one returned for TD, and you have an ugly game. Orangefield is better than that and I really believe they will rally this week and play better. I didn't say they would win this week, but I expect them to get after the Buc's. Also, this ain't the same old Buna team that teams use to run all over people. They have a very good football team, and I can promise you they will have a say in the district championship run. I think a lot of you East Chambers people think it's already a done deal, keep thinking that way and Buna might just surprise you. Now I don't know the story in the Shepherd game...maybe the starters didn't play much in the second half...but that score surprised me some. I really thought it would be uglier than that. Maybe like some of you posters mentioned on this thread, coach could have called off the dogs...was that the case?
  16. Wow...Buna has a pretty good football team!!! They whipped us in every phase of the game. They will give East Chambers all they want for that district title this year. The have good size on both sides of the ball and are very quick. They get in that nastly slot and just run right at you...several times tonight I didn't know who had the ball. They will make some noise this year!!! Orangefield, keep your heads up. Turnovers have been a huge problem in out two scrimmages and that continued tonight. Several fumbles and interceptions...one int was returned for a touchdown right before half. That was a huge play. It completely turned the game around. If Orangefield scores on that drive, it's 14-12 going into the half...even if they don't score, the score's probably 14-6 at half. But just like that it's 21-6 and the momentum is with the cougars. Several kids for Orangefield played their first varsity game tonight and that showed at times, but these sophmores and a few juniors will learn from tonight and get better. Turnovers are huge to every game, but until we block and tackle better we're in trouble. Your not gonna beat teams when you don't block or tackle and your definetly not going to beat good teams when you don't do either. Keep your heads up Cats!!!
  17. www.orangefieldbobcats.com is throwing a Tailgate Party to kick off the new season. Anyone that doesn't have a game to go to Friday night, stop on by and grab some food and say hi. We'll be tailgating behind the home stands!!!!
  18. I believe that was actually Evadale's JV...probably made up of mostly freshmen though!
  19. Orangefield scrimmaged both Coldsprings and Liberty...both teams are very solid, but I actually thought Liberty was the better team. Should be an interesting district race over there!!!
  20. **Big School Game Of The Week** Dayton at West Orange-Stark **Small School Game Of The Week** Vinton, LA at Deweyville Beaumont West Brook at Beaumont Ozen Nederland vs Brenham at Reliant Stadium Port Neches-Groves vs La Marque at Reliant Stadium Huffman at Houston Scarborough Baytown Lee at Beaumont Central Conroe Caney Creek at Little Cypress-Mauriceville Livingston at Jasper Liberty at Bridge City Buna at Orangefield Anahuac at Hardin-Jefferson Kirbyville at Cleveland Splendora at Hamshire-Fannett Woodville at Coldspring Tarkington at Hardin Shepherd at East Chambers Warren at Huntington Houston Kinkaid at Kelly Groveton at West Hardin Tenaha at Kountze Evadale at Colmesneil Hull-Daisetta at Westbury Christian Sabine Pass at Legacy Christian Galveston O'Connell at High Island Barbers Hill vs Wharton at Pearland (Sat.)
