  2. That's real funny Champion, you Silsbee people are something. What do you expect us Orangefield people to do, get on here and root for yall? We're gonna back our team and be positive about them on here or any other board. I just hope your team is as confident as your fans...maybe they'll overlook us too.
  3. I saw Silsbee play Newton the Friday night and they're tough...real tough. The key for a team like Orangefield in beating Silsbee is to keep their offense off the field, no question. We're gonna have to go on several long drives, 6 to 8 minute drives for any chance to beat them. Even if you don't score on all those drives, you have to move the chains and move that clock. Can we do that, not sure, but I think we will move the ball on them. We also have to cause turnovers and then take advantage of them, that's a huge momentum swinger in any game, escpecially if you put points on the board. When Silsbee has the ball you have to control their QB. He's a good one and can take it to the house on any play. If we can force him to pitch the ball and hit him in the mouth a few times, we might be able to slow that part of their game down. Bottom line, Silsbee is loaded with talent and they're huge. Our kids are gonna look like a JV team compared to them, but our kids will play and play hard. If our defense can bend a little but not break we could give them a tough game. To me it all comes down to tackling, we're gonna have to really tackle well against them, if we don't do that it could be a long night. And I want to say thank you to all our neighbors that have our back on this one, thanks for sticking up for us and letting certain people know that they haven't won this game yet...yall know who you are!!!
  4. That's our next good group...a lot of these kids will probably be on varsity next year as sophmores. They're definately fun to watch!!!
  5. Man no doubt, great team effort last night guys. It has been a rough couple of weeks in Orangefield, and I agree with you about this team. I don't think I've ever been more proud of a group of kids than I am of this group. We had kids that usually don't start and several of them starting in new positions that stepped up big time. Credit goes to the coaches for having these kids ready to play. I love this team and I love this coaching staff. Defense is going to come around, and our offense is putting some points on the board. When was the last time we scored 89 points after three games, been a while. That's almost 30 points a game, I'll take that any day of the week. Great job Coaches we're behind yall!!!

  7. Hats off to East Chambers, yall have a good football team. And good football teams take advantage of turnovers and that was the story of this game. Orangefield fumbled the opening kickoff and EC scores. On the ensuing kickoff Orangefield fumbles again. It's 14-0 before our offense even gets on the field. Just when it looked like we had some momentum we would make another mistake. Defense had a goaline stand on the opening drive of the 2nd half, but two plays later we fumble inside the ten and give that momentum right back to the Buc's. Just couldn't get over that hump all night and East Chambers deserved to win this game. Our kids will respond and be ready next week, and Good luck to the Buc's on the rest of their season.
  8. Hey I'll never forget that game...it ended up 48-42 Orangefield. One of the most entertaining games I've ever seen in person. More like a track meet than a football game, with one big play after another. Below is a link to my website that list the last five games between these two teams. [Hidden Content]

  10. Every year I go into this game thinking that East Chambers has a great shot at winning. But for some reason Orangefield has their number. The last 2 or 3 times we have played them over there, we have dominated the game. Last year I bet East Chambers didn't have 50 yards total offense and if you ask anyone from that team last year I'm sure they would say that was the hardest they were hit all year. And they had speed last year and it didn't matter. This year could be different, you never know...that's why you play the game, but I think Orangefield has the better defense and should win this game. Another reason for thinking this is that Shepherd put 27 points on the board and I believe Orangefield has a better offense than Shepherd...I could be wrong, but I look for Orangefield to win in a close one.
  11. I came away from this game impressed with the Lumberton Raiders. Total different team from last years, with a different type of football from them. No four or five wide trying to throw every down. A lot of split backs with several roll out type plays. They have a very good QB who can throw and he has a couple of good receivers that can catch. They'll throw four or five times in a roll and then hit you up the middle with either a quick trap or a draw play. I really think that their going to give people fits in that district this year. Silsbee has a huge defensive and offensive line, and a very good football team. But for as big as they are up front, those guys didn't do to much tonight. QB is quick, and they run the ball well, but they did seem to have problems in the passing game. Also their secondary seemed to have trouble covering Lumbertons receivers. I'm sure they'll right the ship before district and become a team to reckon with once district starts.

  13. Where is this game being played and what time will the varsity's get started?
  14. Orangefield still has a lot of things to work on, but looked sharp last night against Liberty. Liberty had some speed, but Orangefield did a good job of containing it all night. Orangefield moved the ball at will on the ground and in the air in the controlled part of the scrimmage, but struggled some in the 3 qtrs of play. Really got it going late in the game, and was actually inside the 20 yard line when time expired. We can really build off this scrimmage going into the Buna game next week. controlled OF 3 Liberty 1 3 qtrs 6 - 0 Orangefield OF JV 1 Liberty JV 0 Liberty Freshmen 1 OF Freshmen 0
  15. I won't..............say what you want PNG fans, Orangefield whipped your tails all over the field that night. You know I had always heard people say that when you play PNG at the Reservation, that your already a touchdown down when your getting off the bus. No way in hell was the refs going to let little old Orangefield win that game. It's funny that every time we had a big play or even got a first down in the second half of that game we got a penalty. Penalty after penalty and we couldn't get out of our own end of the field....so punt after punt after punt from inside our 10 or 20 yardline...PNG would get great field position each time. So what does a good team like PNG do with that type of field position, well they score and they did. But I will never forget that game, and my opinion of PNG football dropped some that night. Say what you want, but after that game I even had PNG people I work with say that Orangefield was the better team that night. I even think that your head coach said something to that effect.
  16. Orangefield's Lady Cats have my vote...who do you think has the best team?
  17. Orangefield is going to be okay...rain really messed up the gameplan today for both teams. Orangefield was very basic on offense because of the weather, but moved the ball well all day. Passing game looked sharp and that was without Helton at receiver. I've been impressed with Coach Smalley as offensive coordinator. Defense needs some work, but Huffman was big and did somethings our guys haven't seen. Mansfield played no defense today due to a bad back. He's got to get better, he's very solid at defensive end and he's a game changer. But overall, once they made a few adjustments we slowed down their ground game, but Huffman threw the ball well. Huffman is a solid football team, they'll compete in that district. Orangefield is small and has a depth problem...if they can stay away from the injury bug they can compete.

  22. Jeff Granger from Orangefield was pretty special. All American in both football and baseball his senior year. Don't know if that's ever been done by anyone else in our area?
