It wasn't pretty, but a wins a win. Cats now 1-1 on the year!!!

I couldn't agree with you more whsalum. We only have two girls on this team that have varsity experience. We're very young with only two seniors, but we have some good young talent to go with them. We're also learning a completely different system right now under Coach Jost, so it's going to take some time before everyone is on the same page. We lost 7 seniors off last years team, so we have kids playing varsity basketball for the first time. That showed at times last night against Central, but it's only going to help us get better down the line.

Just heard that Buna cancelled last night. Anyone?

He's the Jr High Coordinator at Waxahachie...he's coaching 7th and 8th grade football up there!!!

Both PN-G and Buna aren't very good, but they never quit and they played hard. That score of 92-4 is a combined scored between both games. Orangefield beat PN-G 53-4 and then beat Buna 39-0. Orangefield played well today...they are running a completely new system and still have a long way to go, but there was several positives to take out of the games today. We'll have our hands full though Tuesday in our first game against a very good and athletic Central team. Go Cats!!!

Hats off to the Mustangs, once again guys yall have a great football team. I must be honest here, I knew that yall had a good football team, but I've been reading a lot of your post about how yall believe this team is better than last years team. I didn't think that was the case until I saw the Stangs play last night. I say that because last years team had an Earl Thomas and others, but after seeing yall play I agree. Very athletic as always, but instead of having one or two superstars, it seemed like every kid on that field was just a solid, solid football player. After our first drive, yall made adjustments and basically shut us down the rest of the night. Good Luck Mustangs in the playoffs...go make Orange County proud. As for my Bobcats...great effort last night guys. Like true Bobcats you never quit and you played til the end. Keep your heads up and finish next week with a win. I think there was a little confusion on that deal. There was under a minute on the clock and the Mustang players were already in their helment waiting to run out. I think our kids thought that the Mustangs were waiting for us to run out so they could then run out, plus the band was so close to the sideline that I think out players thought that halftime was over and that the band was waiting for the Stangs to run out.

We'll be out there to set up around five or so.

I believe we're heading in the right direction too. After we were embarrased at Silsbee, this has been a totally different team. They have played their tails off and it started in the 2nd half of the Jasper game. Just too bad things didn't start clicking earlier in the year, but that's part of being a young team. We have several sophmores and juniors playing on the varsity level for the first time and that showed earlier in the year. These kids have grown up quick and they are fun to watch. We Believe!!!

Great game by both teams last night. Man I tell you what, HF has some good looking kids on that team and I truly believe that coach has them heading in the right direction. #32 is a hoss, hope that kid is okay...he was all over the field last night. Looked like the QB twisted his ankle pretty bad, hope he's able to go next week. We lost a key lineman early in the 4th qtr, he was on crutches after the game, so let's hope he can go next week. I too thought that showed a lot of class by the HF players and coaches after the game. The players lined up shoulder to shoulder behind our team as our school song was played. I was very impressed with that and so was several people in our stands. You have my respect and I tip my hat to your fans, players and coaches on a job well done. Now go win out and make this playoff race interesting!!!

Gabe you stole my thunder buddy...very classless. That poor high school girl was almost in tears after the game from that. I guess her mom or dad wasn't at the game, because they would have been all over that guy if they had been. I can see a coach question a call, but to get up twice and walk over to her and argue was beyond belief to me. We're talking a 15 year old high school kid who already has a tremendous amount of responsibility on her shoulders just making calls in a huge game like tonight, and then on top of that she has a coach in her ear. I though it was horrible, and the man is very lucky that wasn't my daughter.

What are you saying BCBACKER07...I sure can remember a few years back when yall put 48 points on the board against us and scored late in that game instead of downing it. What is that they say...what comes around, goes around!!!

Now I don't have a dog in this hunt, but it's funny that you say it was the coaches choice and had nothing to do with the administration. I was walking with some friends of mine (that happen to be from Kirbyville) at halftime over to watch some of the Freshmen volleyball game, when we were walking back from the gym we heard some loud talking...almost screaming. Coach Alvarez and another gentleman were arguing about something. Come to find out, it was the high school principal. From what we heard, it sounded like he was suppose to be out for the entire game...but since it was a close game coach A was going to allow him to play. This was not setting good with the principal at all...but what happen was exactly what coach wanted. He played the entire second half. My question is...who's running that school up there? Sounds like the athletic director is to me. What kind of example does that set for these kids? And I've read other post on this site that say he was suppose to be suspended for the West Orange-Stark game, but he played. Sounds to me like Coach A thought, we'll just sit him down against Orangefield cause we'll take care of them easily...well that didn't happen either.

Everybody was saying the same thing last year and Orangefield gave Silsbee all they wanted and then some. If Orangefield doesn't turn the ball over late they have a chance to win last year. Anything can happen and I expect the same type of game this year. If Silsbee turns the ball over and Orangefield can get some points out of those turnovers they have a chance, but Orangefield has to keep the big plays to a minimum. If they can do that and control Silsbee's speed somewhat, they can pull off the upset!!!
