1-8-1 for BH in last 10 games.   Going to be a short season for the HILL.    They have dropped 4 games in the 7th ,cannot finish,they make mistakes on routine plays,these are plays that they are not good enough to overcome.  They are young, but even youngsters should not be making these mistakes.   They will be good next year and year after, but they are better than what they are doing now.  They should be fighting for that 4th spot this year, but now it may be lost.  The boys varisty teams this year in BH has been sub par,no play-offs in any sport so far, class of 15 just was not real strong.  They need a closer in next years draft along with a outfielder and about 4 sticks. they really need that now.

Agree Crosby should be the district favorite in 21-5A with all of the returners, but it won't be a cake walk.  KWP is always tough and Barbers Hill returns all but 3 starters and 4/3 all dist/all Houston. Dayton brings back a very good pitcher, 21-5A swept 22-5A last year in the 1st round  which is tough to do,22-5A has always been baseball rich, 21-5A will be a tough district again and will be tough for the next couple of seasons with the strong under-classman,  Pre season rankings are there just to get poeple talking, they mean nothing,

Who has who coming back and will it be Crosby, Barbers Hill, Kingwood Park and Dayton again grabbing the 4 spots or is there any other teams in the running ? Crosby looks to have everyone back, will be very tough. Barbers Hill has 5 starters back, but will mostly be underclassman, Dayton has a very good pitcher back with a few others and KWP is always in the mix.  All teams in this district made it at least to 2nd round last year and KWP went the deepest.  Should be some good match ups.

Very cut throat business and it is a business.  Wish every kid that is a D1 prospect would go through some kind of recruiting seminar.  Unless it is the school of your dreams, never commit early,  takes you off the market (though you can change and it happens all the time) but for the most part it takes you out of the picture.  The school may be bound on a early verbal, but when you commit early it does not commit the school to the amount of the scholarship and they can fall back on a preferred walk on. Happens all the time in baseball, kids commit early and then right before signing day they find out it is a walk on offer or the min of 25%.    Do research on the program, talk to other players and if possible ex-players, the only universities that you know you will get money when you commit early is Navy, Army and Air Force, everyone is on a full ride.  If a school pressures a kid to commit early, that is a red flag, if they want you bad enough they will wait. Know how many scholarships they have and how many they have offered, especially in your position.  Do your homework, because it may leave you scrambling if you don't. 
 

Can sit here and say how it hurts to watch BH play, but not true, we watch because we support the kids that are playing and the community.  I'm rding the fence when it comes to the coach, like the man, hate the system.

Looks like Montgomery struggled at the end of the season, like BH did. They dropped 4 out of the last 5 games of the season. Though it is the playoffs, They look to have one very good pitcher, Crosby beat them in tournament play early in the season. Records are almost the same. 18-4A is a very tough district so 11-5 and a 2nd place finish is not bad. BH has to hit and score more runs, too many 0s across the scoreboard the last few games.

About as even as two teams could be this series, both over all young teams, and will be meeting again in playoffs over the next few years, in hopefully Region Finals. Congrats to BH on a great team win, and to Nederland on a very good season and future looks good.

19-4A was a tougher district than everyone thought and to sweep a traditonal rich district like 20-4A says a lot for how tough it was this year. Good Luck to all the teams in round 2

Great game by all, team win. Kitchens can hit !!! Coolings, Bonnin, most everyone in the lineup did something to contribute.  Still in the hunt for another Dist title. Great outing by Taylor. Down Year ? Dayton is a tough team but made some costly mistakes early that cost some runs, pitcher we faced Friday was good and effective the lefty today was not bad, but thought they had more depth in their pitching. They have some heavy hitters in the line-up and no lead seems safe, if they find some depth in pitching they will do well in the playoffs.  Again if Denny coaches this team to a district title it should be one of his better years as a coach.  Nobody was high on this years team and called it a down year If you watch the coaching staff, they coach and give direction and feedback the entire game. They have a very talented group of underclassman, going to be very tough for the next few years. Great 2 games by these 2 good teams, fun to watch.

15-5 and tied for the district lead is a down year ?  It may be compared to the last 2 years, but when you take in consideration that the best player has not been on the field this year because of an injury and you have 2 soph starting and you have 1 freshman in the line-up, sometimes 2 or 3 freshman in the line-up and 1 loss came to Deer Park a top ranked 5a team, 2-1. Everyone said last year was going to be a down year when the 2012 class left, last years team went just as far with a better record. This year has had a lot of injuries to it's seniors throughout the season and they still managed to be in the hunt for a play-off spot or dist title for the 3rd year straight.   The Seniors have stepped up as leaders with all of the injuries and the young players have stepped up when they are called in.  They find a way to win and if Denny can lead this team to a district title with 2 soph and a freshman starting and because of injuries, it may be one of his better years as a coach. JMO, but they are going to be tough the next few years. Dayton has about the whole team returning and are solid and no doubt a favorite to win district, and BH is the underdog this year, the name of the school does not win games the players do. BH players have found a way to win a lot of games this year, some ugly wins, but they find a way as a team to pull it out. BH will have to play great tomorrow and have no mistakes to win, cannot leave players in scoring position stranded if they have a chance to win, it will take a team effort to do it, Dayton is tough this year, but does make mistakes (Humble). At the end of the day they are high school kids and it is baseball, anything can happen. .
