  1. I have not seen Vidor play, but did watch Crosby Friday and they are a very athletic team. The twins can flat out run and the DE on the right side was a monster.  I know if Crosby does not get far this year, the next 2 years look good for them. I heard the JV was undefeated, and with the twins just being sophs. they will be pretty tough for the next couple of years.  Just wondering other than the twins how many returners they will have next season.
  2. Your not joking, my parents were from PNG, and in the 70's once PNG made the play-offs my wknds were booked.  We went to every play-off game in the 70's, I still remember the wave of purple.  In the state championship (either 75 or 77) over 49,000 fans (was there at both), I believe still a record.    My cousin was the DE , when they lost to A&M Cons in the play-offs. I was playing college football out of state ( I think my Jr season) and would fly in every chance I got to watch him and the Indians and I did not go to school there. Great tradition there.
  3. Hope your right, BH is a ball control team and drives the ball, and has done a great job with the new offense for such a young age and defense is as good as I have seen at a young level.  The 7th A looks like a mini -me of the varsity this year. If they can keep Dayton from busting the long runs, they will win. Dayton is scary with the speed they have and can turn a broken play into a 60yd TD.  If they are able to bust a few plays, BH does not have the speed to keep up in a track meet. Will be a good one.
  4. Last week of JR High play and Dayton and BH will play the last game of the year. BH has a combined record fo 25-3 for all 4 teams and I'm sure Dayton is the same or better.  If any Dayton folks know please post it.  By the Baytown paper, the Dayton 7th A and 8th A team have rolled over the Baytown jr highs.  BH 7th A team is 7-0 and has outscored its opp 231-32.  The only team that beat the other BH teams was Gentry.  Should determine a few dist titles this week in BH and Dayton and be a fun week to watch Jr football and the start of a great rival over the next few years with these kids.  The 7th A team game will be a real good one, both teams have rolled over the other dist schools with all scores about the same, BH has the power offense and a great defense and Dayton with the speed on both sides of the ball. Good luck to both teams and they will be fun to watch over the next 5 years.
  5. I have not seen most of these other LBs play, but if you are in HS and you are a 4 yr starter at LB, you are special.  Starting at one of the toughest positions in football at the varsity level at the age of 14 is impressive and sounds like SETX has a few kids that are 4 yr starters at LB. I would put the talent in SETX vs any part of the nation. On what I have seen my vote goes to Rueter of BH. I don't know if he will go D1 or not, but in the HS ranks he is as good as it gets.  It would be a injustice if he does not go onto the next level.  He has the best nose for the ball that I have seen and loves to knock the @#^% out of backs.  Old school, hard nose, blue collar football player.  He is fun to watch.
  6. Agreed good post. BHMS 7th grade coaches are doing a great job, most are very young but have a good moral standrad and are just good guys. They have a great positive impact on these kids and compared to what you sometimes get as coaches at the Jr high level, BH parents should be very thankful. When you are a Jr high coach and you have 130 or so kids come out for football and you have 2 weeks to divide up positions and the A team and B team and teach these kids the plays, that is a tough task.  It is not as easy as it looks to be a jr high football coach and BHMS coaches are doing a great job and are being good role models.  It does not hurt that the 7th A team is 5-0 and the B team is 4-1, and had a TD called back in the closing seconds or they would be 5-0 as well.  Positive Impact on these kids and winning, good combo.
  7. Just to clear up the filming at the Jr high game, it was not for the coaches, they do not want film or endorse any one filming for them at the Jr high level.  There were a couple of the jr high players that wanted to know what they were up against the next 2 out of 3 games, BHMS would be playing both teams in the future.  They heard Dayton and the other team were good, and wanted to see them.  A big brother filmed it for them.  I think it is good for them wanting to know and being prepared, the school had nothing to do with it.  Jr high should not be on the high school thread anyway, really the only ones that keep up with the Jr high ball are the parents, nobody else really cares until they get to HS.

  8. My son will be a Sr. next year and has played select since he was 6.  I have another son that plays select as well, and have 2 more sons that will be playing league. One thing I have learned is that what most call "select "is really buddy ball, a good group of kids and a couple of dads that want the kids to experience a higher level of ball(nothing wrong with that).  I agree with Basebow, true select baseball does not start until 13/14/15 age.  I can say that if you play at the premier level, you see better pitching, hitting and it is a different world from anything else.  It is all about getting kids to the next level, but I have also learned they need to have fun. Select is not for every kid or parent, I have 2 that play select and 2 that don't, I'm just glad they play the game and have fun, while getting better.  There will be plenty of time for exposure and getting serious when they hit the incoming freshman mark.  For all those that have kids getting recruited, has any college coach ever asked "Where did Jr. play 11/12 yr old ball at ?"  I do not think so.  I know known have asked us that and my oldest is getting recruited a little.  As long as they are playing they have a chance to become great, all kids develop at a different pace and just because you are Great when you are 8, does not mean you will be a standout at 15.  I'm just happy they play and all four of my boys are different and at different levels of skill, and that’s the great part of it.  As the expense of select, yes it is very costly, but you spend it because the kids love it, because if you are doing it for a chance of a scholarship, well lets just say that is a bad investment, there is nothing for sure and if I would have invested all the money I spent on select baseball, I could have sent my kids to Harvard. You do it for the kids that want it and as a parent you want to give them what they want.  Nothing wrong with League ball or select.  The kids are playing, thats the main thing.
  9. Sounds like this topic was started to see how spring training was going. Did not see BH bragging or talking trash until Dayton, and a few other schools jumped on here and they can't stay off long enough to get a update.  I dont have a kid playing , but a big fan of HS football and would have liked to hear how things were going for all the area schools. But all we get to do on here is play hang man.  Guess I will have to get updates else where.
  10. Sounds like Nederland had the game in control until the end. Nederland has so much tradition and seems to find a way to win, you guys will pull it out.  I hope the team we lost to wins it all, and we know a couple of the Nederland folks, good people. Thats why its a series and not a 1 gamer, use that depth you have and you will be hard to beat 2 out of 3. It sounds like Brown had another good night overall on the mound. Though also pulling for our district rival GCM as well, would like to see those 2 teams meet.
  11. Need some help here, Kid plays for Barbers Hill, I'm a shift worker and trying to schedule to be off. I saw the playoff brackets, but when or what day of the week will the playoffs start next week ? Be thankful for any info on this.  My kid said if we beat Crosby on Friday, we will play them again on Saturday, but just need to know when the real playoffs start.
  12. Come on BH will win, but not that bad.  This is the first time this year to post on baseball and I keep my login to look at the links, and I end up posting on this messed up one.  All being said, this makes us look bad, and needs to be removed.  JMO.  I know my kid does not want me on here putting comments, but this just got to me.  My kid reads this crap every night.
  13. I have a kid playing for the Hill, and this is making us look bad,  You two probaly know each other and see each other every game, just let it go, and if everyone would not post anything else to feed this garbage. Both of you are wrong to post this stuff, do it on the private message board if needed, but lets have fun with the playoffs next week, and it seems your kids are on the same team, so get along.

A administrator needs to delete this whole thing, before the kids see it, and see what a game can do to a dad.  Is there somebody to delete it ?  Makes us look bad.
  14. Looks like by the clips that they Lewisville started out in a 50 defense, looked very good.  You can tell that Gage did his homework, the team he was playing was a passing team. He was mixing it up with a 5 man front, putting pressure on the QB, then he would go to a 4 man front and drop a extra guy in coverage in passing situations. He had some studs in 1996.  With the linebackers that are returning to the Hill, that should make him smile. If he can put a secondary together he should have a lot to work with next year. Not sure on the defensive line, does anyone know how many if any are returning on the D line next year ?  I know that BH was young last year, so they should have a lot returning with varsity playing time. His style of offense and defense may be a perfect fit. Time will tell.
