LCM has from 14-16 returning starters (depending on how and when you count it.)  They have 4 or 5 players from last year's freshmen team that will make immediate contributions.  They have 10 players that will graduate 3-year starters, and lose none of the skill position players on offense, besides Johnny Epps, who started the first 5 games but was primarily cornerback the second half of the season.  However, they do play both PNG and Nederland away, inexplicably, for the second straight year.  Anyways...

1.PNG-losing a bunch, but PNG always is senior dominant.  Faircloth really knows how to capitalize at such a football-crazy school.
1a. Central-also lost a bunch (i think losing Hale will hurt them worst.)  However i seem to remember counting out last year's team for the same reason.  The returning running back (Heard?) is legitimate
1b.LCM-obviously my favorite team, but with all those returners in the second year of Coach Crouch's system, with how much they improve from '08 to '09...
4.Nederland-Surely Forney will qb again next year, it's just surprising they didn't put him there sooner.  I think, as far as returning players goes, Nederland is better off then Central or PNG
5.Lumberton-has Ryan's Hughes and Asher returning, as well as a host of will-be juniors and seniors.  I see them being better than last year, but the loss of Jesse Sparks, Kyler Keith, Anthony Beard, etc will hurt them
6.Ozen-The two running backs are back, and that should keep them out of the district basement.
7.Livingston-I believe Blake Burnman was a junior.  Also, they had a big sophmore rb who should be decent.  But last year's team wasn't impressive and i don't see why this year's team will be any better.
8.Vidor-by far, the biggest disappointment of last season.  You had a team with a huge number of returning starters, many of which had played varsity since their sophomore year.  Vidor was the hot choice for district champs.  They dominated non-district (albeit against lesser competition.)  They ended up crawling into the play-offs and bowing out in the first round. They have no speed on a team with 3 returning starters.  And [b]btw, the fan's conduct at last seaon's homecoming game against LCM was shameful and embarrassing.

Enlighten me on this

Yeah me too, I went to the game last year and don't recall any problems with either team's fans.

Im hearing Vidor and Kirbyville might be at a neutral site
Why would they want to play at a neutral site?  Plenty of room at Pirate Stadium for this game.  If any game needs to be at a neutral site, that would be the Texas High game because of the distance involved.  A site close to halfway would benefit fans of both teams.
3. I get what your saying about the numbers, substitutions etc.  However, Vidor will not have 50 or 60 players suited up, more like 36 to 44 if years past are a good barometer.  Also while some players will go in and out, there will not be wholesale substitutions, most of the starters will play the whole game.
Pirates do not have the sidelines full of players like say the mid-county schools.
If last year's line was back and the stable of running backs, then yes, I would say they could wear down a team with lesser numbers in the second half.  But those guys are gone.
4. Vidor lost most of it's players to graduation.  Only a very few starters returning, (QB is one though).  Will be depending on a lot of players with no varsity experience.  On the other hand K'ville has quite a few lettermen returning from a trip to the state championship game.  I agree that numbers will always favor the higher classification schools in their games against lower classification schools, but you can only put 11 on the field at a time.  K'ville's experience may very well negate the numbers disadvantage.

As of now Vidor has Bridge City in week 1 and had Livingston as a non-dristrict but the UIL jacked that up so they are still looking for more games

Glad to see Vidor vs Bridge City again.  These Orange county teams used to play on a regular basis.

It's obvious to most that Crosby is the community with race problems rather than Vidor.

I hold Coach Flanigan to at least being partial to blame.  He scheduled the game/s.  He went to school in Lumberton and coached in Orangefield (2 of the many good schools in the Triangle).  He knows about all the area schools.  He should have stood up, told everyone about the good people in the Triangle and insisted the game be played as he scheduled.  I am convinced that he could have kept the game on his schedule.  I have never heard of an AD with even a small amount of courage letting the Superintendent tell him who not to play for a bogus reason like this.

Other Texas communities that have Crosby on their schedules should insist on a credible answer.  If I thought it was BS; I would petition my school to cancel the game.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone concerning how serious the race problems are in Crosby.  Must have been very bad for the community to react in this manner.

Crosby ISD owes the entire Vidor community a public apology for their being narrow minded!
really??? you think there are race problems in Crosby and not Vidor???????.....

try this site then tell me what you think....

Hey Hitman, you miss the core of the discussion. Nobody has said that Vidor isn't a huge majority of white folks, what they are saying is that like in most cases, the real problem with racism here is with those school board members of a different race (is that politically correct?) in Crosby who believe they will be greeted by a bunch of sheet wearing hillbillies with their 12 gauge propped over their shoulder and their gas soaked cross ready to be planted and lit. Shoot, if they are that worried about it, schedule their games with Lumberton.......oh wait..we're mostly white too. One benefit to that though.....Quanell already knows how to get to Lumberton. :o
