But what about playing a tougher schedule? Isn't that supposed to help the team get ready for district regardless of the outcome? That conclusion seems to be the consensus on this board for the past couple of years.

I still pick Nederland to win at home.
Ned--24
WOS-21
;D

Will be interesting to see Hooks going after the officials on Nederland's home field. Dan, "the Intimidator" vs. Mid-County Magic! -

Come on Vidor, win that ............. practice.

;D -
they did, but it wasn't 10 years.

Some will overlook Lumberton, but they do so at their own risk.

Guys they had 14 total yards and no first downs. Vidor offense had 208 yds on 35 plays ( almost 6 1/2 yds per play) Vidors jv (white helmets) played half of the reps.. Its a scrimmage. Both teams will be fine.
That's the spirit! With these two teams being so much alike, it was more like another practice, nothing really new, just different bodies to block and tackle. -
I imagine this was indeed just like practice for both teams since they both run the same offense. Livingston and Vidor are the only teams in 20 4A that run the slot T, I don't think anyone else in OF's district runs it. Will probably get a better idea of both teams when they face different offenses/defenses next scrimmage.

Groveton won state 2A championships in 1984, 1989 and 1990. Rodney Thomas played on the '89 and '90 teams. Groveton is the Trinity county seat on hwy. 287 between Crockett and Corrigan.

Always a chance another network will pick it up. Hope so, I need the work. ;)

Awesome video! Highly recommend to anyone who loves football at any level. Careful though, it might bring a tear to the eye.

I like the hypothetical 4A districts. that would be sweet, hope you're right.

Here's one guess of who would go where:
http://blog.beaumontenterprise.com/huddle/2010/07/22/how-class-6a-would-affect-area-teams-wbreakdown/
if it happened then Central, Vidor, Ned and PN-G would probably have to go play in a 5A District with the Baytown schools or something like that
I know at this point everything is all guesses and speculation about numbers, realignment etc., but if these 4 schools did move up to 5A, what out of area teams do y'all think would likely fill the rest of the "new" district? -
If 4A numbers top out at 1500-1600, then that would send Central to 5A. I believe their number is over 1650 now.
-
Withholding water back then wasn't done so much as to make you tougher , it was thought then that water would make you sick to your stomach. Hydration knowledge was limited compared to today.
-
'60's players soldiered on in an era when water during practice was deemed "bad" for you. In '66 you might get a Dixie cup/pointed paper cup full of powdered GatorAde mix 1/2 way thru practice, and the games, no matter who you played, were always easier than Monday/Tuesday practices.
-
Is this game just a one year deal or is it a two year home and home series with the two teams meeting again in 2011?
-
I know, I'm not a big fan of consolidation anyway. rivalries and history are swept aside.
-
Yes it would. Was just curious about what if would take for consolidation to happen. Personally I like the way it is now with the 2 teams. It would be something if enough people moved out of Little Cypress or didn't move in due to increased Orange city taxes and the two schools eventually wound up in the same district.
-
that's not a lot of kids for a town the size of Orange, but the number seems right.
-
At current enrollment levels would a consolidated district be a high 4A or low 5A school? I'm thinking along the 4A line, but i don't know LCM's numbers.

What has your friend told you and is he close to the team?
Some people on here know who I am and will give me some flack if I put up what everyone is talking about. ::) I'll PM you.
I'd like to hear the scuttlebutt too if you have time for a PM. -
Kind of off topic, but was wondering what the WOS enrollment is now and how close are they to 2A cutoff?
I know it seems unlikely now, but do you 'Stang fans think there is a chance down the road that LCM and WOS might consolidate? What would it take for this to happen, (when pigs fly and hell freezes over don't count. :D) -

Is it me, or does it seem that DC bases his rankings alot on how the teams finished the year before? Not taking anything away from Central, just sayin.....
Mostly based on what's coming back and previous year's record factored in. -
Good post incognito. We'll have a better idea of how they'll do after playing #19 ranked Texas High the first game.
Texas High Scrimmage with Texarkana PG - Vidor up next for Tx. High
