Newton will likely face Dangerfield in the first round now. Dangerfield plays Pewitt next week.
-
In other News, Pewitt beat Elysian Fields 29-28 last night. This will likely effect our first round playoff opponent.

Playing teams like this doesn't really have that much of a benefit to Newton. Other than all the non starters getting plenty of playing time. And that's a real good thing. They could have gotten a lot more playing time if the wouldn't have just let the clock run without stopping it in the second half. But Im apposed to slaughtering another team a hundred to zero. JMO but I think , what a difference coaching, tradition and the support of the athletes in Newton makes. I actually hate to see the opposition get beaten so badly. I actually wish they had better coaching. The kids deserve it. Not saying one coach or one year would make a difference.

Newton only unbeaten left in region 3 and 4 , really no competition until state .. Waskom maybe , combine score last two years the 2 teams meet in 3rd round 111-6 66-0,45-6.
I don't think anyone else in Region 3 can compete with Newton's speed or skill level either. There are very competitive teams coming out of District 11. District 10 has Harmony, bunch of big boys. Don't think they can hang with skill and speed. District 9 has Cooper leading the way now. From my limited video Ive seen, I dont think they will be a threat. Looking forward to the playoffs. Region 1 and 2 honestly seems to have some really good teams and are very competitive.

Actually the defensive backs done pretty well most of the night. Particularly the sofomore Nate Williams. The problem I saw was that they attacked the football instead of playing their position and trusting the other players assignments. They got burned by Hemphill quarterback several times once for a 67 yard touchdown run. They also missed having Tamauzia Brown in the defensive backfield. I'm as big a Newton fan as there is. But they need to play discipline football. Play all 4 quarters and don't think they can't be beat by a good team. I'll never forget the look on the head coach og Gunter face in the kast few minutes of the game last year. Disbelief!!!! On any given night you can be beaten. All it takes is a few plays, blown assignments or failure to prepare. I'm certain Newton's coaching staff is on it. I hope so.

Though when they use the sophomore quarterback they do very well. Using Fozter as a receiver or back. Gives them more options and the sophomore playe well. Im certain they will continue using that option a lot during district play, due to the fact that there shouldn't really be any significant challenges. The kid will only get better. They also used a lot of other young players and they played very well. That being said Newton will contend next year as they always do. But Foster cant be making those bad decisions. I thought he made a few l.j ast weak as well but they worked out in his favor. But all in all, with the play of the non starters being so well. I actually think Newton has a better team than I originally believed they would.even better than the number one team in the Nation. (NEWTON) Very impressed by their depth that they are not supposed to have.

Newton could have easily scored 100 points last night. I actually felt sorry for Kountze. Truthfully, if they so desire they can put up that type of points on anyone in their district. With no competition it doesn't help them become better. I think they may put up 50 points on every team they play all the way through the state championship. They are clearlyin a league of their own. Look back on this post at end of season. Maybe, I don't know what I'm talking about.

I punted and we would warm up on the hash marks. I remember one that landed in bounds and took one big hop into the stands. But this was 30-35 years ago.
Those stands could be, and was used as a weapon

From playing on yalls field many years ago, I figured y’all would rather play on a parking lot. Back then that field was hard as cement!!!
Used to be a lot of stinging grass in that field. I sure do miss it

I can’t argue with you on that, Newton has been successful in 2A and 3a , and get a few wins in 4adll , but hey it’s not the size of the animal in the fight it’s the size of fight in the animal
I think it's a no brainer to think that a small school like Newton or WOS or Carthage can consistently compete with the best 5A or 6A schools. I don't think anyone from those small schools actually believe that nor do they want to try to compete year end and year out with them. But, I do believe Newton's team this year can compete with almost any school. Carthage, I believe last year had a great team and 2 years ago WOS did. I believe Max Preps has Newton ranked pretty high in the nation in all schools regardless of size. Unless, we should disregard what Max Preps thinks. Currently Newton is ranked 20th by Max Preps in the state. After the State Championship games have been played, I think they will move up considerably. Not insinuating they could beat the top 5, in 5A or 6A but, I do believe they could beat many of them. And play very respectful with most of them. This year. Same as WOS, could have 2 years ago.

I'm betting all the gold in Ft. Knox

I'll take that bet. We can both take that money to the bank

Since we're speculating and will never know.. I am willing to bet you 10,000,000 dollars that Newton would get absolutely embarrassed and possibly have several kids hurt if they played one of these schools.
But it isn't going to happen so that means I'm just as right as you are wrong. We could do this all day

Um..seriously?
Since we are speculating. The truth is, we will never know. I don't think they are going to play. So I'm going with Newton in a blowout!!!

Bet Newton could hold their own for 4 qtrs. Pure speculation

I don't see any of these posts coming from Newton fans. My daddy can whip your daddy, my brother can whip your brother.............We ,Newton people, know we can be beat.
Thats my point really, in a sarcastic way. I think it's stupid to say I can beat you if we never play. And in reality we shouldn't, Newton or WOS, probably shouldn't be playing 6A teams. No matter how good of a team you think you have. Hypothetically even if you could win. To much risk, in my opinion to your athletes. But to even be mentioned in the same sentence as PAM, or any other big school is a victory in itself. I didn't really want to see Newton playing, WOs, Gilmer or Silsbee. Ut at least these schools wasn't that much bigger than Newton. If those schools do well in the playoffs it will show how good a team Newton really has. But I believe they have to play those teams next year as well. Newton will be fielding a lot of young players. If a 3A team stays within 21 ppoints of that will be a success
-
If Newton had more depth in the kicker position, they would have beaten WOS by 20. But due to the fact that Newton's kicker had to kickoff after the three touchdowns and the extra points he made, I'm certain he was totally exhausted.
-
And if Crosby beat WOS by 11, and Newton beat WOS by 14 then Newton has to be 3 points better than Crosby. These are the facts.
