It was a beautiful weekend... The SSSC U18 won the Director's Cup State Title again. And Bailey, Chloe and Zuri will advance to the National Cup State Playoffs on Memorial Day weekend. Our game was a nail biter.... going into the game over confident.. at least I was due to the fact that the opponents had a -14 goal differential in their first three games. 14 for the opponents and zero for them.... No sweat we have got this... Right. Well after 42 minutes we get our first goal.. we have taken nearly a dozen good shots that were mostly stopped by the cross bar or post... with a few nice keeper saves sprinkled in. In the 2nd half we get another goal and I am beginning to get comfortable because things are going as planned a 3 or 4 goal to nil final score... Well a girl with a number 2 on her jersey said not so fast RIP I have got a little something for you and she ripped a left footed rocket that found the back of the net.... I was thinking no problem.. she got lucky  1 shot 1 goal. and besides our defense left her wide open to take the shot..(they want do that again).. then about 5 minutes later #2 receives another pass in the same general area but this time our defender is there to meet her and what does she do... The great player only know as #2 blows our defender off the ball literally to create space for herself and then rip... another left footed rocket in the back of the net... she is now 2 for 2 and we are tied.... I am beginning to have flash backs of last Spring when we should have advanced and we did not. I am thinking this is Zuri's last club game the writing is on the wall.. I have taken all this going to State stuff for granted.. it is over yall! We thank God we have Brittney Wade and a few others (12) that did not give up.. Brittney scored with a header on a nice cross then another insurance goal.. and we ended 4-2.... but my hats off to #2 and the Dynamos they played a very inspired game with only one sub. See ya in San Marcos for Memorial Weekend.

Well not the result hope for against Eclispe Black a formidable possession based soccer team.. most if not nearly a full 90 percent of their passes are played to feet... I call them the simple pass.. most effective. They drew first blood with a goal in the 3rd minute.. they took one shot in the first half and made 100% of them... yes one for one.. It was a hot and humid evening 4pm which had me a little concerned when Brittney Wade ( Houston area MVP) took the day off due to prom..which meant more minutes for Zuri possibly a full game.. which I did not believe she was fit enough to play... she played 80 minutes and I was surprised she handled it pretty well... She said she might have played better if she had eaten a better quality pre-game meal... She had McDonald's big Mac and a extra cheese burger.. no I did not feed her these..Neresa Taylor did! LOL just kiddin NT. But her and Chloe played fairly well.. just did not put enough in the net... Eclispe got a gift on goal defensive header from one of our backs.. stuff happens no ones fault. Now down 2-0 I admired the courage of moving one of our defenders ( UT commit) Allie Russo up to attacking mid to add a spark.. then with only 10 minutes left Steve pulled the trigger again and moved our top defender and best player Kansas commit Caroline Van Slambrouck up to the forward position to press for a goal... we got one and was on our way to a second when at 20yds from goal and with a full head of steam to take another shot the center ref blew the closing whistle... bummer.  Hats off to Eclispe Black 93 a great team that plays beautiful soccer. One USYS cup game left against the Dynamos... not sure who they are maybe reminants of Rush.. they have not fared well against the better teams.. so we should get the necessary W to advance to the playoffs. Lets not forget  though that when the Lady Indians loss 3-1; it was their first game of the year compared to Kelly's Mid-Season!  As far as the 1-0 game in February...(In which I thought Kelly played one of the best Defensive games i have seen) It was still early in the Indians Season and Late in the Kelly Bulldog Season.  AND....lets not forget that year...Natalie was not even back on the field; due to her ACL & MCL tear!  So Kelly did not get the Indians at full strength.  The following year...(this year)...Chloe had several nagging injuries and illnesses and never got back on the field full strength until late March.  As far as Aimee not playing Kelly when the opportunities came up?  I would say she was looking forward to the bigger picture of the 4A playoffs rather than the debate of which area team is better?  And again, if she would have played Kelly...it would have been without Chloe this time.  I would never take anything away from Kelly and the year they had this year!  Proud of them and this Indian will pull for them always!  But......I wish PNG and Kelly would have had the opportunity to play each other when both were at full strength......Just saying....?   [/quote] I have been waiting on ya!!! I heard you are the next head coach of the girls side as well as the boys... which lends itself to the assumption... Kelly will beat WB next year  ;D Ursuline was loaded... as well as Clear Lake(one girl going to the Univeristy of Tennesse as well as Houston area MVP and starting forward for the AHFC 93 opposite of Zuri... Brittney Wade) and another (Alex Arlitt) going to LSU.. and that's big time.  both have log some serious hours on the ODP circuit. Alex has also been playing in the Elite Club National League ( only the top clubs in the nation) and Albion cannot get a bid into.  Not to mention Jill Lutz who plays on Aarons 94 team ranked #1 in South Texas and in the top 50 in the nation.. she is an awesome player.. motor never stops.. you would love her. The Woodlands and King Wood have several of our teammates. Now that I think about it Kelly was also Loaded by South East Texas standards. Clear Lake went deep as for the Woodlands not as much. But the Waco Midway roster is as you say not loaded with top grade talent but girls (12) who obviously know each other very well and are playing in the off season on the same team.  Sting Waco 93. Kelly's team does not go to a 7-6 decision with the loaded roster of Ursuline( 6 verifiable Div 1 commits and I heard as high as eight) without Claire, Zee,Yasmine, Madeline, Stephanie, Teilor, Tara, MC and Jillian (excuse me if I left out anyone else on Jim Duncan's team) all playing on someones Div 1 team. And many more like Jenny, Caitlyn, Regan and Lauren playing on Steve's Div 2 team. I agree it has as much to do with team chemistry as it does with raw talent.. but nothing beats highly talented teams that have great team chemistry. I know we have had this discussion of club and High school chicken or egg.. but if you look at WB roster.. You have Lisl, The twins, Aaron, Stacy, Hannah Babin, Rachel Babin, Julia , John Olson's daughter, Jim Duncan's daughter Laura Gallegos and many more that play at the club level.. Now PN-G I cannot quite figure out because that team does not have as many club players with the exception of a few ( and now that I think about it maybe Aimee did more with less)... but even their top two scorers over the past 2 years (50 and 43 goals respectively) and consecutive MVP's Nat and Chloe have played club most of their careers. We need to sit.. no joke and talk about what you would do differently on the club scene because I know you have been there done that! I applaud the North and the South for getting together lately and working it out to improve versus taking my short cut and letting a Big Club come in here... Frankly I think Sting and Maybe Challenge are beginning to get diluted with all these take overs. I had original pulled my first post as you say not to belittle are down grade the girls that did win the awards... but someone got my motor started again and there was some collateral damage.
