1. I do agree there is a problem with athletics in Beaumont,  have seen it.  Lots of politics involved, as to who coaches where.  I just don't blame the school board or superintendent for it. There are other people IMO more at fault.  You commented that all of the white people are leaving BISD.  I asked about the non white who are going to the other schools. I believe adding a little color to your team, always helps.  Could that be part of the reason for some of those teams success, or is it the talented white kids that left BISD?  And you right it isn't politically correct, but it is what it is.  Should have its own post,  not here at the WB/Pearland post as well.
2. Hmmmm  which sports are "black sports" ?
3.

Until BISD changes its ways this will be a common theme.  They keep running families out of Beaumont so you will see the Lumberton's Nederland's Bridge City's and PNG's of the world continue to improve and see BISD schools continue to disappoint.
What the heck are you talking about?  Did you even manage to read any of this stuff? Who's running out of BISD?  Enrollment is doing good.  As I said, this have nothing to do with the current topic...  ::) ::)
Denial isn't a river in egypt.  Bisd enrollment has been flat for over twenty years.  As for who is moving out of the district, surely you aren't that ignorant?  All of the white people are leaving bisd.  It started with the great ping pong ball debacle of 1980.  Slowed in the early 90's with the promise of neighborhood schools.  And has picked back up again under the watch of the current superintendent and board.  Since you are in total denial, look at the white enrollment in bisd.  It is around 15% now!
Your still not proving a point... Just sound like a bitter and ignorant individual...
So the non white increase of students in Nederland, PNG, BC, and Lumberton is due to the white people leaving BISD?  Or due to the current board and superintendent in BISD? Crime rate might scare them. Couldnt be any other reason or could it? Thoughts?
4. or Kendrick Perkins since he is still playing in NBA
5. Prayers from the Dumas family. I lost my father 10 yrs ago, but he is with me daily. Yesterday he was cussing out the cowboys. May God grant you peace and lift your spirits.
6. A lot of the local high schools put on camps, info is usually out in April or May. Lamar does some summer camps. Depending on his age, and how much you want to spend,  U of Tx, A&M, etc also do camps in summer.
7. Those lights are huge.  Just keep working , getting better everyday.  The lights will find you when its your time to shine.
8. If your staying where you are for the season, keep working hard and play when and where you are allowed. have you already talked to the coach and asked him the same question. My son is on varsity at a small school. He works hard, but of course there is always room for improvement. It is a young team, with a few key normal starters out with injuries and grades.  There are several schools you do take transfers in this area as well.  Lots of kids on those middle school list are talented, but never reach the potential the list says they  have. Kids quit for all kinds of reason, including playing other sports. I have heard coaches say, do not take much into those list. Your son is talented, has potential. I am learning patience is the key.  There is a top 100 middle school list for the Houston area, seen the list, and have seen my son and other kids put most on the list away early, as i am sure you  have seen with your son. it could be a pride issue for a coach, "this is my varsity team"...... and he is sticking to it. i do not know this coach, but have seen that as well over the years. He may or may not get alot of playing time on Varsity and can help out the other teams. you should ask the coach what his plans are, then make your decision for next year.
9. Coaches have different reason for not playing freshman on the Varsity.  Some have a "rule" about it, although it might not be a smart move on their part.  Pride may be bigger then brain.  Some may hear "rumors", read message boards, etc and think if that player or players parent is not happy with the program they have in place, why would the coach want them on varsity. You never know the reasons things happen.  Keep working hard, do your best when you get your chance, if this is the season you have to endure.  It is also way early in the season, hopefully it will get better by district.
10. They have a 6'4 or 6'5 freshman , think he is on JV though.
11. Haven't seen a packed house at WB basketball games in a while. WB has some good incoming freshman, hopefully the stands will start to fill up soon.  Central girls and Ozen girls have a good following. New gym could also bring playoff games, AAU events, Lil Dribler events, etc. Add the hotel and get the rates better then or comparable to the the local hotels, and the baseball/softball teams that play here would use it also.
12. Not alot of defense from either team.  Hardin was in foul trouble in the 1st quarter.  Experienced players sat alot in this game.  No reason to given up a 22 pt lead, but it happens.  Tarkington hit 11 3's also.  Hardin had way too many turnovers and missed lay ups with the youngsters out there. There is alot they can build on from here.  Def need Miles out there, he was in the huddle at timeouts talking to the boys also, doing what he could. These refs asked about the mercy rule and running the clock, good thing they didn't, Hardin might have won. Seriously, is this a new rule, or just some AAU refs learning to ref high school games.  not blaming the refs but alot of blwon calls in this game.  Tarkington shot 15 FTs to Hardins 4 in the 2nd half. Lots of fouls on both ends of the floor, by both teams, just some were not called Good job Tarkington for never giving up. Hardin pick up your heads, and learn from your mistakes.
13. Is there someone to text or call scores to for this forum?  Can't wait till Tuesday.
14. Kids have been transferring out of PAISD to SP for yearssssssssssss, it is not new and not because of the storm.  Alot of kids from the Port Acres area attend SP as well.
15. They won today 25- 0 vs Clear Lake Falcons.  Clear Lake was undefeated and the only loss the Bulls had this season. Clear Lake was physically punished as the Bulls did not attempted one pass, their RB did an amazing job as the workhorse. They have several workhorses who helped out.  Great discipline by this team as well, using as much of the clock as possible on long drives.  I was very impressed with this young team and the Bulls organization today.  Congrats to the team, players, coaches, parents and administrative board of the Bulls. Good luck to their girls at Drill Competition, it has been moved do to the weather this weekend
16. Here is the correct direct link to the article.  VB Link
17. The Freshman Bulls won 7-0 today and are in the SuperBowl!  Great job!  They play the Clear Lake Falcons ( who is the Bulls only loss this year 12-19) at 9am Saturday at Barbers Hill.  Good Luck to the Bulls.  Cheer and Dance competition are this Sunday and Next Sunday. Good luck Girls!
18. Anahuac will win. Hornets will score, but cannot stop the ground game. Hopefully a good game, close out a disappointing season. Senior night at Hardin.
19. yeah I never saw him, was hoping to get to.
20. They play the #3 seed Clear Lake Space Raiders at 2pm this Saturday at Deer Park North Stadium. The Bulls Freshman are the #2 seed.  Winner to the SuperBowl.  Should be a god game.
21. :) Would the 6'8 post be a Freshman?
22. "Good players may not need h.s. basketball to get noticed, but they need it to learn how to play in a structured offense and defense. AAU forms bad habits.  Good High School coaches dont allow kids to go through the motions. Players need both the h.s and AAU setting to be at their best in my opinion. The AAU system offers great competition and  exposure for the next level ,while the h.s. setting offers coaching, structure, and more responsibility, with having to manage grades, practice, and teamwork. Accountability!!" Depends on who they play AAU for and where they play as well. There are some really excellent programs out there, who teach accountability, manage no pass no play on their team, etc.  I do beleive a player needs HS and AAU ball, both are a great benefit. They need HS for exposure and that diploma, plus teamwork, etc. But AAU has its benefits.

24. Awesome!  I hope she continues to play.  There are a few teams from here that could use a move in.
25. I was able to to watch a San Jac basketball game last night. They played Lone Star Kingwood, San Jac won 92-55.  Devin Bray looked good. 12 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 awesome dunk , 3 fouls. Soild defense to help San Jac open it up in the 2nd half, they led by one at the break. It was nice to see Devin out there, and looking good, smiling and having a good time playing a game at the next level. Keep up the hard work Devin, we are proud of you.
