1. How about Top 5 current coaches,  then seperate thread for Top 5 retired coaches
2. I'm well aware of RCS. I was letting people out here who aren't in the know that you have to get out there or have them come to you, or you won't see the list. The local rep will do fine I am sure, there is plenty of talent from 5a to 1a in this area to scout.
3. Ben West has done a great job.  Joubert helped turn Hardin around when he was there before he went to Kountze. He has done a great job at Kountze.  Jason at W Hardini is doing a great job also.
4. You forget one thing.  7th & 8th (and AAU) are all about talent of the players.  Varsity ball is talent AND coaching. MOST Varsity ball is about talent and coaching. I'd even say 99%. You will see teams out there who just have talent and are not well coached.  not all AAU coaches are daddy ball non coaching men. Some have played NBA, Euro League, College ball and are there to improve the whole athlete, books, brains, and physical ability, most are part time social workers.  They teach fundamentals and the game. Most of this board is not AAU proud, which I get. To each his own.  But not all AAU teams/coaches are a bad thing. Omar Sneed and Team Sneed are doing a good thing in the Beaumont area, Ken Lofton and PA Heat are doing it for Port Arthur. There are other players from SE Texas that play on Houston area teams that are getting well coached, and these kids are helping their teams.  There are some AAU teams that are absolutely not well coached, and just thrown together by someones dad. These teams are usually dismantled by our local AAU and Houston teams.  If you tried AAU and it didnt work for you, there are plentyof other teams to choose from.  If your kid has the ability and desire for it, one way to get him better is find him a summer AAU league to play on. Some are sponsored, some you have to fundraise for the fees.
5. RCS is a nice site.  But they have not seen most of the players from this area, or the players here have not attended a RCS event, or one that RCS is at.
6.
There may not be a true PG in SETX.Both the kids from Silsbee and HJ do a good job of playing within the system they play in.I have also been impressed with the kid from LCM,Woodville and the best I've seen myself this year is the kid from Lufkin Hudson. He could score at will and could get the ball to his team mates at will, they didn't always finish but he put it where it needed to be.
Agreed, have not seen a true PG. Alot of athletes playing basketball. Not alot of true PGs out there on HS Varsity's.  Mostly we have 2s, 3s and 4s.
7. It is not unsportsmanlike. People don't like it. If he had continued to let them play Kountze basketball, it could have been a much worse beating. The other team gets the ball back by rebounds, steals, turnovers, after a made shot. Would you rather a 200 pt beating, a 75 point loss because the other team puposely traveled or threw the ball out of bound, or you continue to play as well as your team can, and they ease up on defense.
8. Hemphill is bad, have seen them.  Whats worse, having a team let you score, just stand there and stall the ball, its embarassing to the kids getting beat as well. They want to keep playing. Joubert is classy and would not run the score up on this team.
9. Tell Dunnigan, just keep working. Mental toughness will help in the long run. Those 2 missed shots did not cause the loss.  Being a Senior, he can show the underclassman his mental toughness, by not beating himself up. but by letting it go, and keep playing.  Trying to get players to learn this seems difficult, but should come as they mature.  College coaches love to see mental toughness with a good player. Been preaching this to my son, and he is getting better as he matures.
10. I saw WB freshman vs Central freshman in 1st part of season.  WB led almost the whole game, only a 2 on Central stood out. Central did win. but I do  think they have some freshman playing up.
11. There are lots of good freshman in the Golden Triangle area. Hopefully things will get better. Beaumont should have some talent shortly, if the coaching does what it should.
12. Evadale played a great game. Dunnigan looked better then I have ever seen him play. With that said, if Dunnigan could keep his emotions in check, he'd do alot better. I do understand emotions run hot alot in the game, and he has gotten better at it, just keep working hard young man.  Kountze absolutely played as bad as I have ever seen.  Their guard hit some cluctch shots. McDaniel did not have a good offensive game.  Kountze needs a leader.  Not having Linn really hurts them. Good thing Kountze makes FT's. The officiating was not the best. tons of non calls on both sides, but 1st half fouls called were way in favor of Evadale, if Evadale had done better on FT's, I think they could have put this one out of reach.  Kountze worked really hard the last few minutes to take this one. They should work this hard the whole game.
13. Tough Call to make. Human heart instinct is to protect a bleeding player.  If there is a blow out lead, by either team. I think stop the game. If it is close, or could help a team get some momentum, i think let the fast break continue, but stop as soon as ball is shot, or fast break is stopped/defended.  I do think, seeing a player down and in agony or bleeding, you want to stop it as soon as possible.
14. Glad you are better Travis. Take it easy and know you are in the prayers of the Dumas family.
15. Calls need to be consistent on both sides. You can't let one team be the more aggressive team and not call fouls, and the other team gets ticky tack calls.  I agree with not impending the dribbler, but watch for his away forearm/elbow as well on the defender.   Actually had a ref tell a player he could not play defense with his arms outstretched against a dribbler  (not touching the player) , they had to be up in the air.    SMH
16. Hardin looked slopy in the 1st half. Ec was up 10 points at the half. Much better 2nd half for Hardin.  Good defense.  Stephanie #4 I think and Mya took control. Good game.
17. There are lots of NICE people who get accused of doing illegal things, some actually do them. Does not mean they are not nice. made a dumb decision yes.
18. Hardin  68  Hemphill  51  Final  (sloppy 3rd Q by Hardin) High score Hemphill  A Singleton  24 pts Hardin  D J Hall  33 pts  C Dumas 10 pts
19. Anywhere I can fill up a growing 15 yr old with all you can eat.  LOL
