1. I cannot bring myself to pick Nederland in this game! Just not right! signed, disgruntled gcm fan
2.
The LCM game was 26-7 with 6 seconds left in the game. LCM started a QB with no varsity experience and played another with about 5 plays worth of varsity experience. GCM has some athletes, but if Ned with a game already under its belt doesn't win big, it would surprise me. GCM has some speed, but not overall WOS speed. GCM cracked a few big plays that was about 90% of their total. Scored the first drive and with 6 seconds left in the game.
If GCM does not change their philosphy on players and using what is working, they will not even be close in this one. If the other little RB, #28 for GCM, would have played most or all of the LCM game, it would have been very close. He had 7 carries for 131 yards, I believe. Why did he not play most of the game? Sezar was very impressive and as advertised, but the GCM kid was equally as impressive. Any LCM fans agree? LCM did not posess the speed GCM has at almost every other position, but they did have it where it counted. You fail to mention the punt return for a TD that GCM had called back because of a block in the back way behind the play. The other punt return that almost went for 6 deep into LCM territory that became nothing because of penalties. GCM drove inside the 10 again to get penalized for holding on 2nd down to make it impossible to overcome. Not questioning the calls but everytime GCM had something good happen we seem to be penalized for something. GCM missed a FG later in the game as well. This game should have been much closer and any fan there knows it. GCM will get blown out against Nederland if we have these mistakes. 3rd and a mile and GCM player decides to clobbar a LCM kid after the play and LCM would have punted. 19-7 became 26-7 a few minutes after. No discipline whatsoever!
3. Wow! Sezar very impressive. Has some wheels and moves on top of that. Can I ask one question to LCM? If you were GCM would #28 have been in the game every offensive snap? Seriously? He would have matched Sezar score for score and it would have been exciting to watch. We are down 19 and we are huddling up with 6 minutes to play. You would have thought we were trying to run out the clock on purpose. Too many mistakes and too many penalties. Way to much athleticism on this team to play this way. Every time GCM had them stufffed or made a big play, we had a penalty.90 yard punt return called back because of a penalty away from the play. Saw many things wee can build on. Congrats to LCM! Sezar should have a big year and I will definitely keep up with him.
4. Good article on Sezar. sounds like an amazing athlete and student. Wish I could just watch him and not play against him tomorrow.
5.
,cbear4-two words for you. Reading Comprehension. :D I said if ya'll are faster than WOS your team would be one of the fastest in the state. Not the fastest but one of. Speed does not know classifacation. Watch a state meet and see if there is a big difference in times, between 4a and 3a. WOS has won 3 state track title in a row,and yes the are football players also  and are ranked in the top 10 in football. I asked you a simple question and you come back talking trash. Also read my post I didn't pick a winner, I asked you a question. But the truth is GCM doesn't want any of WOS!! ;D
What trash talk? The state track meet, come on. We were talking about LCM and team speed here. Why is LCM a better team? Because they scrimmaged WOS? Really? WOS has always had a great program. Very familiar with them and not taking anything away from them. Do not wear your feelings on your shoulder...
6.

I am picking GCM in this one because they do have a lot of returning starters. They also play hard each night.  A lot of people pick LCM just because they are a local name.  Fact is they are a slightly improved Orangefield.
goose creek graduated an entire d line save a returning junior, everybody but one DB, a LB is returning, and pretty sure the o line is gone as well. correct me if I'm wrong, but that's not alot of returnees. they do bring back a good HB, and QB as well as TE. all solid players. and as for LCM being an improved orangefield; really? let's see how they fare against district rivals WOS and Silsbee compared to LCM. you can't even make that comparison.
GCM graduated one O-Line starter besides the one that was injured and did not play much of the year least year. One of the D-Line starters was the Sr. O-Lineman that graduated. We did lose two additional D-Lineman a LB and one DB so this should be correct. We ran a 3-4 defense so we did not have that many starting. We had a very young team last year and most are returning. You must have looked up the info after my last post. Does not make you familiar with our team. Buckle up! I can name 18 players who made at least one start last season. 17 started just about every game. THIS MAKES FOR A LOT OF RETURNEES IN MY BOOK! BUCKLE UP! Seriously, good luck. I expect us to be much stronger than last year. Obviously, people had us picked to overachieve last year and we all know how that turned out.
7. I am not going to get into an argument about team speed here. You are talking about two good 3A schools but they are still 3A. Do you really think that the schools you are familiar with are the only ones with speed? Fastest in the state? Come on! PAM, Northshore, Pearland, LaMarque, Dayton to name a few. They have speed. Get out of your area and get real. You probably cannot name any members from our team and I cannot name but a few on yours but I know I must be a whole lot more familiar with LCM that you are with us. Our speed or lack of, will not be what kills us, it will be whether we execute or not. Like I said before, we have speed with at RB, LB, WR etc. Does that mean we are going to be good? I hope to answer that starting Friday night. Eighteen starters coming back will help. You guys benefited from good experienced players returning last year and still missed the playoffs by a hair. I look forward to seeing Sezar but I look forward to seeing how well our speed does at more than one position.
8. I would say that the first series that they were handled pretty well and adjusted to what Nederland was doing. Secondary was caught out of position on some play action. I still give Nederland the edge when we play them until we can prove we can compete on Friday night. GCM has not played their starting TB in a scrimmage but he is cleared to play this Friday. He had a laceration to his hand in the first week of practice. We hope to have a starting tackle back as well. Last year we had major O-line problems, especially early in the year. That seems to be a lot better this year with all but one starter returning. We are very deep at RB this year and Lumberton could not deal with the speed as we broke off several long runs for scores. We have a two power guys, one with speed and additional two RB's with great speed. I still believe we are playing the wrong QB but I what do I know.
9. None of the guys have graduated and I do not put stock in people hoping that one player will get them over the hump. Three guys have posted sub 4.5- 40's with GCM but if they cannot get into space, they will not be succesful. Looking forward to seeing the LCM Soph though. GCM returns 18 starters and this experience will help.
10. GCM: Dayton Manvel Nederland Barbers Hill Galena Park Crosby LCM CE King Lee North Forest

12. If Lumberton wins this game, what does that say about Jasper? L-Train is having trouble leaving the station this year. Just an opinion but they struggled when I saw them. I was impressed with one of their RB's though. Good Luck!
13. I believe that most coaches try to play the best players but I am sure at some schools and in some instances are influenced by parents. This should never be the case, but it happens. I think the main thing IMO, is that kids play out of position.
14. Nederland 28 WOS        20 Nederland's "D" very impressive in GCM/G-Ball scrimmage. O-Line will push you around.
15. I agree that Lee has offensive weapons but it probably will not be enough to get them a winning record. Hope I am wrong as I have always enjoyed watching them. Just not enough horses, imo. Will have to play their stars both ways to compete and over 4 qtrs they will wear down. Good Luck! Sterling 20 Lee      17
16. GCM may suprise some people this year. Loaded with talent and plenty of speed! Let's see what kind of team shows up. Go Patriots! GCM 24 LCM 14
17. Congrats! He was impressive against GCM last season. Wish him well.
18. Will we be getting Rushing back tonight? 500 hitter may come in handy!
19.

The reasons BH will win district are as follows: 1. BH has more talent returning on both sides of the ball than does Dayton.  ??Dayton losing 1 skill player 2. Dayton is losing almost every key player, except the QB and he is not as good as either BH QB. Again you are ignorant of Dayton's roster 3. Deny is going to be a Div-1 athlete.  Townley is talented enough you could see a two QB system next year. Yawn 4. I expect Townley and/or Deny will play some defense next year in situational circumstances. And if not for Bo Jackson, these would be the 2 best athletes in history! 6. BH's O-Line and D-Line will be bigger than any other district team.  As it pretty much has been since you came into 19-4A...lotta good it's done you 5. Dayton and BH will be the best two teams in district and BH will be better. I'll believe it when I see it...eventually it's gotta happen right??  I mean Crosby did beat Dayton last year. Last but not least, because I have a crystal ball.   ;)
I also noticed you put down : 7.  BH has coach gage and Dayton has Coach Stewart.  Caps are correct on that BTW.
I see next years "the hill is for real" thread being longer than this years. They will never learn. BH had a good season so congrats, next year is a new year and you guys have some good athletes but I did not see any studs leading you to a deep playoff run. In a weak district, if you guys execute you could have a good season imo. That is what your system is designed around. I will take everyone throwing stones at GCM next season and see what happens. Lots of starters back but a lot of work to do in the off-season. Cannot get worse than last season. Have several good athletes coming back with some good underclassmen coming in. All but one skilled starter will be back so it will be interesting.
20. Many sorries for my ramble! I look forward to watching the underclassmen next season contribute. May a few of the Freshman coaches come up to the varsity and light a fire under the kids next season. They need constant motivation. Youd luck to your son. I will still watch all the games.
21.
what a joke!!!! you water down the GCisd by opening another unneeded school, then you blame a coach that has actually got his team to the playoffs for losing. this is pretty sorry.
I can go back and examine last year and say it was an exciting year but you look at the fundamentals and the mistakes made week after week and I know what is "not" taught to these kids. I'll argue this with anyone who thinks they know. You can pop off what you think you know but they they should be winning now and winning decisively against one of the weakest districts in the area. We had an exciting player last season who made plays but was also one of the most undisciplined kids I have ever watched. My expectations are for them to be disciplined and play excellent technique on both sides of the ball, especially defense. The kids are lost against average competition at best. Coaches typically do not encourage or pick up a player who has made a mistake. If you have ever actually watched this or actually played the game, you would see this. You can be satisfied with average but we are not even that.
22. Have not been on in a while... Still recovering from that "powder puff" game from last week. Congrats to the Freshman team... I hope they can help out next season somehow. I am telling you that there will be a switch in the attitude of the coaches going to the JV and varsity. I would like to ask their outside linebackers about how to take on a block using the correct shoulder "inside out"  and how to take on a cut block. They do not work on it.  DL how to get separation off of a blocker. We have one of the strongest kids in the district on the DL and I could whip him at the line still today. He plays horible technique. Not his fault, he was never taught. DB's how they are taught to tackle, oh, they rarely do tacklin drills. None of defense does. Its a freakin joke... WR's and QB (heck our coach) to read "man to man" or "zone". QB what the difference between this and cover 2 and cover 3. Have any of our position coaches ever actually played or coached at the position they are coaching in now? Can our coaches leave our QB a choice to "check down" when he see's blitz coming. Our QB could not read this if his life depended on it. Our Def. Coord. how to teach kids to stay disciplined or they will not play. Why is our best RB on the bench all game, every game? Can we switch it up a bit. Can we run some routes in the middle of the field where our receivers can make plays on the run? Not stop, turn around, catch (maybe) then run. Heck I still say our best QB is not playing the position. Maybe he is still hurt, I don't know... Coach acts like a jerk to the kids and expects them to play for him friday Night. If anyone wants to challenge me on any of it, go ahead you willl have a tough time making an argument. I can tell you I could debate just about any of our coaches on teaching technique and I think I would win. Replies?
23. Can he come and "teach" football at GCM? Maybe mentor some of the staff there. Most of them do not "teach" anything about the game because they do not know how except maybe some Freshman coaches. Good luck to coach Minyard! There are many circumstances as to why he was not as sucessful as he would have like at Sterling.
24.
Great win for the Eagles!  Glad to see the Seniors get a big win in their last regular season home game.  Defense continues to be impressive.  Coach Gage and his staff deserve a lot of credit for preparing our boys.
Good win for BH! Not trying to burst your bubble but your middle school could have competed against GCM tonight. Down 19-0 did it look like they were even trying to come back and score. How predictable was GCM tonight. Well coach you are right when you told the kids you get paid whether they win or lose. Really! Why didn't Guiilory see the field? Why did we run the same 4-5 plays all game? I said I would not question play calling but can we borrow BH's JV coach for next season? Can our LB's learn how to take on a cut block? Good Luck BH! Just blowing off some steam.
