Well, on a plus note, I didn't see any BC or CS kids throwing punches or fighting among themselves as was previously reported.

BC kids were out of line, no doubt.  No excuse for that at all.  Very disappointing.  I don't have a problem with discipline being handed down from the UIL.  I'll be very disappointed if Landry/Dubois don't make a very strong statement by punishing the kids who touched or aggressively approached the umpire.  That's not who we are.

Back to my original thought that was misunderstood by a lot of the faithful.  You have to wonder if this whole situation was worsened by the behavior of some BC fans.  I'm not justifying the calls.... I wasn't there and the video of the at bat in question looks bad, but who knows? I DO know that multiple fans from BC were ejected from the game prior to this altercation.  Did their behavior improve the umpire's performance?  Apparently not.

How are players supposed to react when they've got an hour's worth of "Hey, Blue.... you're blind..... You're horrible..... Got to hell," etc, etc.? How can you expect kids to respond appropriately when their fans (and possibly family) have been disrespecting the officials for an hour or better?

Nothing good comes from bashing the officials.

You call yourself Cardinalbacker? You were not at the game, your kid doesn't even play baseball...how bout you either get onboard or find another team to back!

  2. There was nothing that occurred at the Silsbee/BC game that can compare to what took place at Montgomery High in the BC/CS Gm...I've never seen anything like it...BC fans were ribbing the homeplate ump no more than any other team's fans do on any given game night in the state. IMO the Umpire behind the plate that was involved in two questionable calls at second base during Gm 1, was still irritated from being questioned by Coach Landry about those calls earlier that day. It was blatantly obvious by his body language, demeanor, or how ever you want to phrase it that he was ticked off at the BC coaches or fans or both.....He let that effect his calls concerning the strike zone and nobody can convince me otherwise....it wasn't even close to being consistently bad for both teams, it was as one sided as no other game I've ever witnessed.....There was also a scout or Coach from Waco Robinson that commented to a BC parent that "he couldn't believe what he had just saw"....It's hard to fully understand what took place by just reading comments on this board but if you were there or maybe listening to the KOGT broadcast it was absolutely unbelieveable...I would imagine there will be an article in the Orangeleader about the game...

  3. I've never seen anything like it...I never like to blame a lose on an Umpire but the guy behind the plate is the worst Ive EVER seen. It actually started in game two when he was in the field. It was so obvious what he was doing it was sickening. Yes BC had opportunities to put the game way earlier but You can't expect to win, when your trying to beat the opposing team and the Umpires too! The CS batters were getting reprieves on numerous at bats in Gm 3....Unbelievable
