  1. I guess you missed my point, but that is ok, I really didn't expect you to get it anyway. I'm done having this discussion with you. So I give in. Shepherd was scared (more like totally afraid) and all the boys were crying and begging the coaches to take them home. Just the shear size and speed of Cleveland was just too much to handle. So we took our ball or lack of balls and went home. There was not a need to play the game, Heck it wouldn't even of been as good as a practice for Cleveland.
  2. oh lord you guys crack me up. There will be three sides to this story, Shepherd's, Clevelands and the truth. I doubt that the coach of Shepherd chickened out. But just talk with Kegger about it, the knows some people who know people that told him yes Shepherd was scared. I will say that water was standing completely around the Cleveland field and it smelled like it had been there for a long time, if you know what I mean. I was told the officials called the game. At first the coaches were talking about it and someone said it was called, then they came on the loud speaker and said they were still waiting on official word, then they came back on about 10 or 15 min. later and said it was cancelled with no make up. scheduled.
  3. I apologize Kegger, Those well informed people you talked to must be right. So if the coach called the game, why was Cleveland so willing to give me my money back on tickets? If it wasn't official there is no way they would of given me my money back. I guess we can just say Shepherd forfeited and Cleveland is now 1-0 on the year. That should put the fear in the other teams Cleveland will be playing this year. Oh and for the record I never said that Shepherd was a dominate football team or was going to win the game. I was just trying to get you to see how stupid your comment about a Head football coach cancelling a game (because he was scared) that his team has won the last two years. I watched Cleveland warm up and I did not see anything that would strike that much fear in the Shepherd coaches.
  4. Well I am telling you the officials called the game, I don't think the coach can call the game or it would be a forfeit not a cancelled game. I don't care about the field getting tore up for a varsity game, but not even Cleveland is going to tear their field up to make up a jv game. Just not going to happen. If Splendora's game was played in Splendora then they can play all they want due to having a new turf field. That's a game changer. Anyway, I do not think Shepherd was scared, I don't remember anyone in the last decade being scared to play Cleveland. I do believe Shepherd has won the last 2 to 3 meetings.
  5. Well Kegger I don't think you received the correct information. But it is your story, tell it like you want. The officials called the game. It was still lightening at 7:45. The only thing you are correct on is the game is cancelled and there is no make-up (OH and I heard it was the Cleveland Coaches, but I know that it is not true). Cleveland's field had water standing completely around it with no drainage, smelled like it had been there for months. That would of been one messy game. I don't recall a high school willing to tear their field up (due to weather) to make up a JV game. You are correct they were going to make it up, but with all the rain and more predicted, they were not going to chance messing the field up for a JV game.
  6. It was about what you would expect for the first scrimmage of the year. Like bobkat said very vanilla (as you would expect) Shepherd has put in a entirely new offense, the spread is no more. Orangefields O Line is of good size but did not seam to get a very good push against a much smaller Shepherd D Line. As the same with Shepherd. They didn't get as much of a push as you would think they would. Same as Bobkat, both O Lines need work but should be ok once the first game is here. Both Defenses ran to the ball and tackled well, took Shepherd a few plays to get going but they held pretty well. Shepherd has a new DC also. So it will take a little time to get things corrected. Orangefield didn't shy away and held their ground well. Shepherd had a few good runs but Orangefield stiffened up and held them off. Orangefield broke a pretty long run that set up the only score. All in all it was a good practice against someone other than your teammates. I think both teams will be ok, I think they will play very hard and whoever their opponent is, will know they were in a dog fight that night. Neither team has a bunch of players on the sidelines, I don't know about Orangefield but Shepherd lost a lot last year. This week both teams will get back to work and should look much better Thurs. or Fri. Night.
  7. Oragnefield at Shepherd Freshman - 5:00 Jv - 6:00 Varsity around 7:00 is what I was told yesterday.
  8. If the Tigers do not finish it in two then something is wrong. Tarkington is a gritty team, they don't have much big time pitching. If Silsbee has trouble with slow and off-speed pitching then they may struggle. Silsbee should close this out in 2, with the pitching they have. Being from district 23 I hope Tarkington proves me wrong. I will say if Silsbee sleeps on Tarkington they may not like the outcome, they have found ways to win in the last half of district and have gotten much better.
  9. Huffman is not the team they have been for the last couple of years, but they are still very good. I am pretty sure their LSU comment Pitcher will be on the mound. That kid can swing it also. I do not think Huffman has the bats they have had but great defense. Huffman wins this one.
  10. Coaches decided to do a coin flip to see who plays. Coldspring will play Tarkington at either 4 or 5 then the winner will play Shepherd at 7:30. All games in Madisonville on Monday.
  11. Congrats to Coach Robinson, he will be a very good AD. Good Man with great integrity and will do a good job across all sports.
  12. Looks like Shepherd Hired from within, I was told that Miles Robinson was the new AD/ Head Coach. He was Shepherds OC., It was also on Shepherds twitter feed last night.
  13. I am glad the UIL didn't punish the kids. Now it is time for Livingston ISD to step up and get rid of the persons responsible for doing this. A Little cleaning of the closets is in store. Will they do it, I have no idea, but if they don't then the entire school board is just as responsible.
  14. They were doing interviews yesterday and today, special school board meeting called for next Wed. I do not have the names of who they were to interviewing. Some of the coaches on the staff were getting an interview.
  15. Yes, I know the school board is meeting tonight it may be a done deal.
  16. How is the Pitcher for HJ that had to come out of the game after being hit?
  17. you guys realize that the only ones that will suffer are the kids who had nothing to do with it. It was wrong, but why is it the kids have to pay for what some adults decided to do?
  18. Rusk school board approved Keel last night and he accepted. Yesterday was his last day in Shepherd.
  19. Yep he has to do what is best for himself and his family. Good Group graduated, but he Freshman class is really good. Kinda crazy he is a hometown boy. So hope Shepherd opens this one up.
  20. I hear ya, I received 6 phone calls in less that 5 min. It didn't take long after he told the players.
