  1. Crosby 28 Dayton 27...greatest kicker in High SChool history misses an XP as time expires...LOL
  2. Crosby 31 Barbers Hill 17 Crosby's defense much improved and they are very fast to the ball.  I think the offense will continue to only get better for the Coogs.  I think both teams make the playoffs though. It is definitely going to be fun to watch
  3. I saw the Elkins game on film- definitely not the Dayton of old but they are still tough- Dayton fans even you have to admit if Elkins WR's could catch a cold they would have scored 2 or maybe 3 more TD's.  They dropped 3 deep passes in the middle of the field that were easy TD's.
  4. Carthage is ne of the Natural Gas capitals of the world- that is how they get their money. Having been a resident there- they see it as an apreciation to their athletic program and for winning numerous state football titles.  Some schools actually still care about athletics
  5. 8888 you obviously do not know Marty Murr or his intentions so saying he is going to srpingboard to a bigger job is a bit premature.  I can tell you this, he is a devoted family man, community oriented and the kids will love him- and he has quite the 6th grade athlete coming up next year- so that is at least 6 years.  Before accusations fly, get to know this man and you will be very proud that Anahuac made this hire.  I guarantee you are winning playoff games with Coach Murr.
  6. GCM I beleive it was 1983.  Such a good man/coach and gonna make Anahuac a winner quickly
  7. CONGRATULATIONS to Coach MURR!  He is absolutely deserving of this job.  And yes, he was the DC in title at Crosby
  8. There are more jobs available already this year than last year total it seems.  Lots of HC turnover- wonder if the college type pressure of win now is trickling down into the High School level.  Drew Starnes is of great TX high School coaching legacy(his Dad Ernie was coach at CE King when they were an absolute pwoerhouse in the late 80's early 90's) and is OC at Kingwood now- wonder if he has a shot.
  9. King needs a strong leader to handle all the discipline issues over there.  The regime before COach Wilson had a firm grip on the boys and even though they did not win district every year- they competed, worked hard, and had class.  IF King was smart- they would hire somebody like the old OC or QB coach that is familiar with the community and the players they are dealing with.
  10. Tally of the benefit is $114,000 and rising!  Thanks to all of you who cared enough to post or contribute.  I was looking for you BrenhamFan but didn't see you.  I had to leave before the Auction because my baby was a little under the weather.
  11. Hey guys I live here in the Crosby Community and besides the big items there are numerous silent auction items.  There will also be food/fun for all.  Just seeing support from neighboring communities will be awesome for the family.  I don't have a lot of $$ either but I will be there with my family pitching in...maybe some of us posters can meet up for a good cause.
  12. good of you to post this GCMPats.....I am sure Crosby will step up to the plate and help this fine family.  If any of you have spare time it is a worthy cause to stop by...by the way a New Orleans Saints helmet on silent auction.....will be signed by Drew Brees/Reggie Bush if desired.
  13. How about this for a tough schedule-The Crosby Cougars play Port Neches Groves, Pearland Dawson, and Montgomery before heading into district play.
  14. This is going to be a test for the Coogs-but all year they have been tested andhave passed.  We will see.  Any chance of winning relies on stopping their ground game at Montgomery.
  15. You Southeast TX folks absolutely crack me up.  The better team was CROSBY and they won the game...and absolutely THERE WERE BACKUPS in the game getting burned...geez.  Nederland you fought hard but were not very good. It is funny- last year Crosby- a 3rd place team in 19-4A beat your DISTRICT CHAMPS.....and not much smack talk.  Nobody in the Triangle is giving Crosby any credit...gonna get beat by Nederland...er, I mean Montgomery.....er I mean......?????  Come on folks..quit being such HOMIES and give folks credit when it is due.
  16. Barbers Hill has worked and played too hard this year for this game to sneak up on them.  The Eagles will take care of business and get into the playoffs.  However I understand the concern of this being a trap game
  17. Ranger I must have missed the article but you are right, that newpaper is not worth the paper it is printed on- especially if they are disrespecting student/athletes.
  18. Demartie Allen is gifted-no doubt about it- but I have never seen a kid talk more trash than him. If he would focus more on carrying the ball than trashtalking he would be even better.  Defensive players don't get much notice in MVP talk but you have to mention #24 Dylan Judy for Crosby(ILB).  He has been bringing the wood and has been TREMENDOUS for the defensive turnaround.   BHill QB Viverette has to be mentioned but he has too many turnovers. Ploch was injured but there really is no clear cut choice this year for 19-4A
  19. I am glad yall clairifed that- Gilmer will go D1 and Carthage D2.  I think both have a good shot at winning state....Gilmer will roll for sure.
  20. HANDS DOWN Kyle Trimm from Kingwood Park.  Not even close to anybody else.
  21. GCM will have Beaumont Central as #2 big school.  Crosby will have Vidor as #1 Big school(as of today-things may change)
  22. I am from Carthage and have a cousin that plays for Gilmer so I am torn-however I don't think there is any stopping the Buckeyes this year as Gilmer is on a roll.
  23. There is no pun intended here- Barbers Hill is the best 4-5 team in the state.  They absolutely played their hearts out last night.  Turnover bug has hurt them all year and it got them again last night.  King lost to GCM however so all the Hill has to do is take care of North Forest and they are back in the playoffs.  Hats off to Barbers Hill for a valiant effort and COngrats Crosby on the win.
  24. It started in 1st game of district vs. CE King.  Committed to the run and have been successful every since.  I do understand the question though
