Watch the spread attack when its ran in fast pace, it will wear out a defense in 5 plays everyone running to a line, that takes tremendous stamina. I think this is a "i miss the old days" moment and is an illusion. Not likeing the offense because you feel the passing ability in highschool is not good enough to run it correctly or you don't like side schemes in the running game, or whatever is something different. This is just a whining session that is "i wish it was 20-30 years ago, nothing less.
My gripe with the spread is, you have to have the personnel to run it. The great coaches will mold the offense around the talent he has on the field. You don't just wake up one morning and say I think I will run the spread. I have no problem with the spread if you have the personnel to run it. Some coaches insist on running it when they don't have the athlete's. As far as conditioning goes, depends on the coach, back when I was in school precautions were not taken like they are now because of the heat. During two a days it was full pads both sessions everyday. During the regular season it full pads till wednesday and shorts and shoulder pads on thursday. We did not have entergy drinks back then either. Because of all the deaths coaches cannot coach like they did 30 years ago. So in reality my gripe is not with the offense but with the coaches who insist on running it when they should not. No doubt the weight conditioning is better today. A lot of us did weight conditioning on our spare time because most of us had jobs during the summer.
Agreed if you don't ahve athletes don't run the spread. Bh figured that out. (no offense but u guys have more big boys than athletes)
 4. Goose Creek Memorial in a 38-20 victory and people think Nederland is really good why? That option is gonna hurt the Dog's pride. Some fixed pooches once this one ends.
 5.
I was just giving Sterling a little bit of ribbing there. I probably shouldn't as it looks like hard times are about to be upon Lee very soon. Harder times than the 1-9 from last year. The last two freshman teams have been absolutely horrendous.  Couldn't beat most 8th grade A teams probably. I think they have been outscored 86-0 after last week this year.  Last year they were probably 0-10 and outscored 400-25 near as I could tell.
Wanna see a video of a 74-6 beatdown on ur gander fish? if not too bad. [Hidden Content] ok i'm done.

 8.
Crosby Freshman B - Crosby 16 Dawson 14 A - Crosby 28 Dawson 34 Crosby played a good game... they were out 4 starters (all starting LB's 3 and starting RB)  and hung in with a good team
With the shear amount of talent at Dawson that's a great result for all three teams.
 9.
I feel, IMO, only my opinion, that PNG has been a little overrated for the last couple of years.  With that being said, they are on the right track to getting back to that dominant stature of the old days.  PNG just doesn't strike any type of fear into opposing clubs like they used to.  I figured Crosby would give them a run for their money but never thought Crosby would beat them.  Neither team is at the level of Dawson right now.  Dawson shouldn't have any problems getting past Crosby in week 3.
I think Dawson my be drinking their own coolaid, the Cougs will score, if the defense can force some turnovers early the cougs can win this one. Think Dayton 2 years ago give the cougs early confidence and that defense will settle in and play well. 2 predictions. 1) shortest game of the year for the cougars will be 2 great running teams going at it. 2) Cougs win this one by 2 points game in the 20's range. I just don't know if Dawson can score that many times with the ball starting on the 20 every single time.

 13. As for that fighting racist stigma thing, again i apologize for crosby a couple years ago the school board handled that situation horribly.
 14. I think the pollsters need to head east of the trinity. for a couple games this week. It's funny at the beginning of the season i say Crosby plays Montgomery/png/dawson everyone says they lose bye 21 per. But... 2 of those teams have been in the 3rd round of the playoffs 2-3 years in a row! STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE sheesh.
 15. This is just not true. Go play Dayton and then tell me Spread offenses can't be physical. The cougs line this year is stout as well. LT has a very physical pass blocking line, they seem to win a few games every year. The idea that lines aren't as physical in the spread is a product of watching pass heavy run and gun style spreads versus watching option/running spread attacks. 350 yards on the ground against PNG with a 100% spread offense simply doesn't happen with out extremely physical play.

Recent playoffs tend to contradict this. and what does By Default mean?
Nederland has a much better all around team this year and don't forget it took a trick play to beat us. And if we do play the kittens in the playoffs this year, they will have to come play at the Dog Pound since we played at your house last year.
Hum if im correct that was just the separation score... if im not mistaken a safety/Rush td/Trick play did you in... p.s. we missed the xp which means at worse its a tie 19-19, I also tend to remember kneeling the ball on the 30 wasn't it?
 17. For those who didn't vote for Crosby... Get in your car and go watch a game. Your crazy.
 18. I think BH/GCM/Lee/Dayton/Crosby do a decent job at filling thier stands (their where people who left the png crosby game because of lack of seats on the coug home side, and people where standing next to the gate on the PNG side. just watching the game... that was a playoff atmosphere. King/north forest fan support is poor. Don't count the Cougars out this season, they have a lot of games that can be used as building blocks until we end the season with Dayton then BH if where not undefeated in district by then i'll be surprised. After 2 big games against our 2 rivals, The cougs will be very ready for playoffs. Other thoughts... BH doesn't want to play PNG, i think png matches up well, i think they want nederland or central no offense to those teams but to beat BH u need to be huge on the line and able to prevent sealing blocks. Also im expect BH's defense to be pretty good this year. Also, Cougs will take any comer from 20-4a you can talk but almost no one on these boards have seen those twins play. Ask PNG stoping them is not going to be easy (for anyone). But we will see but the Cougs are going to be well prepared for any opponent by the end of the season we will have played Mont/PNG/Dayton/BH/Dawson 4 of those teams are almost assured playoffs PNG should make playoffs. I'll take the Cougs non-district + district schedule over the 20-4a district for playoff prep anyday.

 21.

Tough loss last night, crosby had some good speed out there in there QB and running backs. Poor tackling by our defense and poor linebacker play is our downfall. We didn't really put any pressure on them in the backfield and 350 yards later it showed we need some more practice. Bothh teams played their hearts out but I think I would like to see that matchup again in the playoffs providing we both make it. I expected a lot of people got a rude awakening when they saw png's defense get shredded up last night.  People predicting that lopp sided score must have swallowed to much grape koolaid out there in that heat. We have a lot of things we need to improve on, thanks for Crosby exposes some weaknesses in our armour and bringing some of these people back to earth. I don't know what is in store for the indians but we do have room for improvement no doubt. Couldn't have asked for a more exciting game to watch especially in the fourth quarter, can't remeber the last time we ran back a kickoff, who would of thunk it? Ready for next weeks home game can't wait to see chapter 3!
First off does anybody realize we have a back that rushed for 2000 yards last year. I completely understand the QB Miller running in the Offense this year its an added weapon but our horse needs more touches period. 12 CARRIES LAST GAME AND 9 THE WEEK BEFORE ISNT GOING TO CUT IT. Anybody who knows football knows if you can run the ball you control the game period. But our problem is on the other side of the ball we are too small everywhere and our Defense got wore out the other nite and the result is arm tackling that results in missed tackles which in turns becomes huges plays. Our DC needs to take some blitz opprotunitys when we have the chance to, to get our Def off the field faster. I have been to both games and we havent blitzed 1 time nor do we even get in a goaline package inside the 10 yardline. I like the fact our staff tries not to play kids both ways but this year we dont have the size on defense and we may need to look at playing some lineman both ways and a couple of the skill posistion kids as well to help out the Def. This team has a chance to be special i just hope our staff makes the changes that is needed to get them there.
what on earth are they blitzing? the Running game full of options? If you blitz and option offense you lose period. The cougars throw a ton of Bubble screens... and on 2 of them they went 20+ because of outside linebackers BLITZING. I've seen 1 PNG game and they blitz on passing downs, guess what... weren't very many of those as the cougs where getting 3-6 yards every run. Also will point out, the 80 yard run by our back had a corner on the WRONG SIDE OF THE FIELD blitzing. As for 12 Carries for Bertrand, he wasn't very effective in those carries the line is simply not as good as the GREAT line he had last year, the QB was the only one consistently moving the ball. Faircloth and his staff understand football. You apparently do not.
 22. I'm glad to see i wASTEd humor on u guys... sadness.
 23. A Satire. Not taking a side on this one, but. #2 and #3 team in 19-4a just beat 2 teams from 20-4a so 2-0 so far this year. "As for depth of the districts, it has to go to 20-4A.  There is only one team in 20-4A that I feel that doesn't have a realistic chance at making the playoffs without saying their name" New question (not saying this but playing devils advocate). Is a district where its top teams are stronger and thus distance themselves from the rest actually weaker than a division that's clustered? I'm sure Dayton would take on anyone in 20-4a with confidence, I like the Cougs matchups against 20-4a (i see 20-4a as bigger teams with athletes but that play from their size on defense, and i'll take a quick offense over a big defense any day), BH's option offense can be very hard to stop. All three of these teams i feel like WOULD win against their 20-4a opponent. There is a discussion of the 2-2 records, but when you have a GP team or a GCM team with new systems good coaches but DEVELOPMENT teams, losing to the #1 team in the 20-4a district... i mean honestly don't you sigh in relief u don't have to play Dayton every year? It's not exactly easy playing God's favorite team every year with Jesus Christ roaming the sidelines, i mean thankful he decided to hang it up for a while.
 24.

PNG defense sounds soft tonight. They better tighten up!!!
First of all, I dont understand why everyone thought Crosby was going to be easy. After I saw the scout film on them I knew it would be very tough. They are as big, fast and athletic as Memorial. Crosby has some serious players but from what I understand they are young. Our team may have been a little over confident but the fact is their speed and quickness was hard for us to handle. The QB and RB were very quick. As far as our defense being soft, our defense is not soft. Those kids played their hearts out, they did the best they could. Yes they do need to work on tackling and I'm sure they will. Our kids on both sides of the ball had no quit in them, it just didn't go our way. These kids have heart and that's a very important factor as to what kind of team we have. We will be fine, we are in a very tough district and were going to have to fight for every win. As far as seeing that kind of speed and quickness, we will see it again in district there are a few teams with that kind of speed. Good Luck Indians and keep grinding....
Great post. I will point one thing out, from where im sitting its not tackling its bad angles, everyone was taking wide angles to the backs which makes it very easy to make a strong cut and wooof ur behind the back. The backs weren't breaking tackles they moved some piles, but i really don't think that many tackles where broken, more clean misses, or expect the back to take it out wide, then he cut back. Don't be hard on the kids they had to be the FIRST to see those twins in action (settled in unlike against montgomery i think they grew up in that second half just a bit) Maybe this loss will be a good thing for PNG going forward like i think our loss to montgomery was for us. Dawson will be a good preview (defensively) of an active and energetic team with a ton of talent on that side of the ball, hoping to see us put some points on the board against them.
