It will be a good game.  My Trojans just got their 1st win of the season last week over Warren 60-0.  It was a momentum builder heading into this big game.  This is tough to call because my heart is with the Coldspring Trojans but I think that the Kirbyville Wildcats are going to come out firing on all cylinders.  It will be a close game and which team has the ball last will win. Coldspring needs to bring a defensive presence that has been missing all season if they are going to compete with the Wildcats on Friday night.

Growing up I was told. Never count your Chickens b4 they hatch. Make damn sure if you gonna talk the talk. You better be able to walk the walk. An respect isn't giving you gotta earn it. Seeing Crosby being eliminated in the 2nd Round is a big surprise. Especially reading and seeing the comments made by Crosby Fans on this message board b4 two a days started. Talking down on Setx Football and how invincible Crosby was. Well I'm hear to tell you I hate it for the kids, but you Crosby Fans on this message learned  a valuable lesson. Anything is possible, no team is invincible, and remain humble when winning. Seems to me Crosby got there arse kicked like WOS did by RF(5A). An the score happens to be the same 42-14 but by the same classification (5A) as Crosby. To make matters worst, Crosby season comes too a end...Don't write a check you can't cash. 

I just love this!  I knew it was coming!! You did not play a 6A school you played a 5A school!  If you can use that then hold on to your hat.  Last year's numbers which would reflect the current standings are as follows:
Crosby 1509 -5a
Lumberton 1109- 5a
Ozen 1169- 5a
Goosecreek 1849 -5a
Richmond Foster 1970 -5a
PNG 1399- 5a
Nederland 1625-5a
WOS 594 - 4a
So my point is.... saying that they stepped on the field with a 6a team is just an excuse we are all waiting for!  Just because the numbers go up in the school does not mean they are a much better football team.  WOS beat PNG and they have 805 more students, Goosecreek has 740 more students then Lumberton and Lumberton beat them.  The size of the school has NOTHING to do with the fact you lost.  Just take your "L" and shut up.  The few Crosby fans that want put down SETX football every chance they get need to grow up and learn how to be humble.  Saying 4A doesn't have that variation in their entire class and still have two divisions true but so do you in playoffs.  So once again your point is invalid. 

Watching Kirbyville vs West

I didn't get a chance to commit on the EC game so here it is. I want to give a shout out to Gore. He played a heck of a game last Friday. Also a couple of Kirby receivers made a heck of catch but Gore impressed me as quarterback. I think he could play at the next level if he wanted. Good luck to the young man and Kirbyville as a team. Maybe we will meet up again, who knows.

I would imagine the coaches know that it's when or go home. Not letting the foot off the gas. You either come to play or get blown out. It's the playoffs nobody is going to let up on the scoreboard. There's not a feel sorry for clause in the playoffs

rykerx, I was very impressed with your Kville team. Definitely could beat some good 5A teams. Y'all gonna go a ways this year. #4 and #24 on the defense were beasts and blew up a lot of plays against EC. Good luck to your guys against Kemp. Kville by as many as they want.

Since I have not seen either team this year, I'm not in a position to judge either based on the "eye test". Based on what I have gleaned from the discussions regarding these two teams during the year, this is my take on the game:
With the exception of two games the teams have played the same schedule. I'm not sure how big of a difference there is in playing Hamshire-Fannett and Orangefield, but Bridge City is definitely a better opponent than Tarkington. That would give Kirbyville a bit of an edge in schedule, but it was one game and early in the season. Probably not a major factor at this point (at least in my mind). Kirbyville's forte appears to be offense. Great offensive numbers this year but will probably find it more difficult to move the ball and score on the East Chambers defense than most any they have faced this year. East Chamber's forte has been defense. Great defensive numbers this year but will probably find it more difficult to stop Kirbyville's offense than most any they've faced this year. The Kirbyville defense and East Chambers offense don't get as much credit as the Kirbyville offense and East Chambers defense, but neither appears to be a glaring weakness. This game could come down to which teams strength is able to get the upper hand. Likewise, the strengths could even each other out and it could come down to the match-up between the Kville O and EC D. I don't really think either team will win dominating just on offense or defense. The team that has most complete performance on both sides of the ball is going to come out on top. Add the third side of the ball: This could easily be a game that is so evenly matched that it turns on special teams. I just don't know enough about the special teams units of the two teams to know how they might factor in. Of course I could have just been wasting my time typing this.....I have been wrong plenty of time in the past...LOL

no question kville has this but I am also worried about the weather and I pray for a clean and safe game for all involved. and safe travels for the Cheerleaders, players, band members and fans, please be safe on the road and good luck

Both teams will win out till they face each other....that's a given. Once they get there I think it'll be Kirbyville in a 48 min shootout. Possibly one of those games that comes down to who has the ball last but I'm gonna pick my Cats.

Guys just chill on this for a couple weeks.  There are still 2 important games to be played before we get to the first week in November.  There will be plenty of talk about this during that week.  Not sure who EC still has (Buna and Woodville maybe?) but KV still has Hardin and Warren.  These are 2 games that will sneak up and bite you in the rear end if total focus and preparation is not given to each during that week.  The cats and bucs need to prepare for the each week as they did this past and let the chips fall where they may and if it just so happens that this game turns out to be for all the marbles, then there will be ton to talk about.....

What?  I guess you've never seen the signs that teams put out on the side of the stands... "hunt the lions", " chop the lumberjacks", etc... or a pep rally where the kids do something to a mascot of the other team, or a professional baseball game... I saw it and recognized it for what it was, just some good clean fun... It was a straw dummy on a commode...  thats it, nothing more.   Get off your pompous high horse.  

I think it's because everybody knows what will happen this year so no one from Buna is doing any talking. This is just another pebble in Kirbyvilles path. 

EC hasn't been challenged all year and won't be until kirbyville.

EC I hope y'all are getting good practice in on these easy games. We're coming for you. Be ready.

Last year was some good trash talk. LOL Some great games in the district last year and expect the same this year. Not near as much trash talk this year because I'm just too busy. Back to the grind stone. Like WildCat in pink said "I am hoping to see a great game! and a clean game, no fights or injuries". Good Luck and God Bless both teams.

After seeing Kirbyville last night, I think they win this game.
BUT it will not be easy. Both teams play a "hard nosed" style of football. What will give Kirbyville the edge is that fast-tempo offense and the pressure they bring on defense. I'm not sure if Buna can handle all that. But it will be a great game!

Buna will give Kirbyville their best game so far, but it won't be enough. Kirbyville by at least 2 tds.
