HJ wins 76-70....  Good hard fought game by both teams!  

This discussion has missed one potential element that contributed to the loss....that Hardin-Jefferson might just be that good.  I know, folks want to point to the 62-0 loss the week before but the fact is that WO-S has done that to everybody that they have played so far.  H-J is a team that was able to improve over last year when they were adjusting to a new coach (and yet were not that many points away from reversing their fortunes last season) and had a quality win over Jasper coming into this game.  Sure, if you would have asked me on last Friday morning, I would have chosen Liberty but I can't say I was surprised about the outcome.  In fact, I had warned earlier in the week of this result as it appeared that they were overlooking a team that I felt was much closer in quality to them than they did.
And this is not to in any way meant to dismiss the quality of Liberty.  They are a really good team who have done things that a Panther team has not done in a while and they have deserved the notoriety that they received.  In fact, I am kinda disappointed with those, both locally and across the state, who going into last week were so high on Liberty yet have jumped off of the bandwagon with reckless abandon after a 3 point loss.
But to dismiss this as a "fluke" is doing a bit of disservice.

I wanted to write something but I am at a loss for words, physically and mentally. That was one of the best games I have seen in my entire life. Congratulations Georgetown on that championship, but thank you for coming down and being a part of that game.
 
Thank you to all the volunteers and everyone at Hardin Jefferson who helped make this tournament so great. Thank you to the fans, who at the end showed that no matter the team in Southeast Texas, we will stick together and cheer each other on. And thank you to all players, coaches, and managers for giving it your all and making the tournament so enjoyable.
 
I wish I could say more about the game, but honestly it was a had to be there game between two of the best teams in the state and two of the best coaches in the state.

On a side note, HJ scored a TD on every possession except the last one.... They had the ball the last 7 minutes and took a knee on the 5... Nice bounce back game to get ready for the playoffs.

Also this was our first trip to the new HJ field, nice yard. Will be really nice when completely finished.

The amount of jealousy and just pure immaturity on this forum is just crazy and directed at kids at that! Hide behind screen names and attack a man and his children, man you all are really tough!

You must not know how all state stuff works.... The coach has to be a member of the association that puts their all state list together.... There are many coaches associations in the state of Texas... Tabc, and thsca are the two main ones, thsgca, sextca, etc... Had a member of hj's coaching staff been a member of thsgca I promise you, the district MVP would have been on that list as well.

For someone to claim politics were at play, discredits the accomplishment of the player. I would love to hear your theory on this....
