  1. Most Varsity games end around 9:30.

These stations most of the time will say a score if they get it in time.  We call all our scores into all three tv stations and the enterprise.

You have to remember, they have about 5 minutes to report the top sports stories of the day.  They also have to plan that segment and they may not always have all the scores.

For being short handed (2 sports people on the tv stations) and 2 sports editors, I think they all do a fair job.  Not every school gets to have an article every day.

But to answer your question, e-mail and phone calls will change things.  All news outlets will report what their readers / listeners are interested in.  Let your voice be heard.

  2. HJ ended the Pasadena tournament with 4th place.  It was a large tournament with 5Ateams from all over the state. (Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, El Paso.)

They won over 5A Tomball and 5A Klein collins.

They lost against a good 5A San Antonio Madison team and against 5A Cy Creek.

SO FAR... 8-2 versus some pretty stiff competition....  These girls play HARD!  They should be battle tested come district.

    2A - Hitchcock (W)

    4A - PNG (W), Friendswood (W), Huffman (W)

    5A - Lufkin (W), Galveston Bal (W)l, Tomball (W), Klein Collins (W), San ANtonio Madison (L), Cy Creek (L)

  3. Currently, Las Vegas has Humplik at 3-2 odds over Vansa.

Cited as reasons for the better ranking was Coach Humplik has a stronger list of catch phrases like "Atta Boy!" and the ever popular YESSS  SIRRRR!!!!!

The race for 1st base coach of the year should be tight, but early on, it looks like Humplik has the edge.

  4. They could apply all they want.... they would never get in.

The only reason Strake and Dallas Jesuit were let in is that their size prohibited them from competing in Tapps.  The lawyers won the battle over the UIL.... plain and simple...  I think the only way this could EVER happen is if some sort of voucher system was put in place...  and all schools had "open" attendance districts.

  5. Top 5 Mid South / Houston Wrestling    Wrestlers

    4. The sheephearders.... (became the bushwackers in wwf)  funny as heck!

    5. KAMALA!  Kamala was a beast.

hahaha  this list makes me want to be 12 years old all over again!

  6. being athletic helps with this style of play... but it is not essential.

Neil Laminack (who played at HJ in the early 90's) coaches a team in Houston (St. Thomas)  They play in a similar manner, and as a team are pretty slow.  They have a decent big man and can shoot.  What they lack in athleticism, they make up for in hustle and "knowing the game" and playing well together.

If every one knows their role and the team performs their roles together, it doesn't matter what "system" you are running.

That brings me to coaching....  Being a good coach is not about having a good system.  A good coach gets his kids to buy into the system and gets the most out of his players in their particular roles.....
