Because 2 major reasons. 1 being the city population was older but now has the city turned it’s getting younger and mainly people went to these schools in the 90s and saw how bad they were then and now there kids are going to these schools.  The other reason was previous bonds people were making things up saying it was a “athletic bond” lots of false information was getting tossed around. Former board members were calling people’s house asking them to vote no. It was a mess and poor advertisement and everything about it was a mess. But now with the new school board regime in changes are going to be made. You will see things change for the better hopefully in the incoming years. I believe all the new board members all were pro bond and that’s a start.

The question was asked when was the last bond passed. One in the past 50 years? And you replied 1997 the PAC building. Which was wrong 2012 was the last bond passed. Look above. But yeah bandaid it was, and we are currently alreadying having issues with the AC units they installed. I was told by a border member family member that the AC units purchased was actually refurbished not brand new. But to answer your question how do we get bonds to pass? To answer your question election is coming up and vote for candidates that are pro bonds, and are wanting new schools. If we fill those vacancies with people that want new schools that is your voice on the board. Then to follow up we need several meetings and walk around the schools again, invite the public and not be hush hush about it. The public was clueless on the first bond because they thought it was all about athletics which it was not. Many former board member spread the rumor that it was. Many of the older citizens at the time have now moved on and the city of Nederland is getting younger. Lot of the voices preaching that we need new schools went through those schools. My parents went to those same school, I went through those schools, now my kids as well are going through them. If Nederland doesn’t act and do something soon they will start losing key athletes to the area schools they have new schools. There is already 1 neighbor hood in BC that is almost all former Nederland star players. OF is starting to get one as well. I see it through out the community and all over FB people are leaving. It’s time to make a change. We have some of the best teachers in the area and test scores in the state. Time to push forward and treat our kids first rate not third rate.

Many citizens of the Nederland are blind eye of what it is like to be a student at the school. When they opened up all the schools to show how bad shape they are in. It was a pathetic turnout. They had a slideshow of pics at a special meeting, not many people came out. The lack of advertising on the first bond was mind boggling. Many of the school members at that time wanted the citizens to vote no. They called house to house to tell everyone to vote no. That this was a sports only bond in reality it was not. The younger generation is running for the school board they are wanting a change. If you want a change get out and vote be involved.

The main problem with Nederland bonds getting passed was the first one around 2009 was wrong information was put out before the citizens that the bond was all about Athletics. No new schools, board members were calling people’s house telling people to vote no. The whole thing was disaster. In 2012 they came back the “band aid” bond. Pass this bond we will get 20 more years out of the school. Which is a lie and pathetic. The older school board members are getting out and the younger new generation that know how the schools are taking a stand. Mr. Micah Mosley is running for school board, he is the type of change Nederland needs. He wants to get things done correct he’s taking a stand.

Words from Mr. Mosley- ’m pro-bond... Overall, I was disappointed in the 2009 and 2012 bond outcomes. If I am elected, I hope to have the opportunity to work with a bond committee on getting our facilities back on track. Ask your company's HR department what incoming families look at when evaluating the area. One of the biggest factors that influences where a family buys their home is the school district and its facilities. We all know friends and families that have even left Nederland due to the state of our facilities. I want to shake this up and push hard for improvements. In consideration of  tragedies over the years, it’s also time to get even more serious regarding the security of our facilities and the safety of our students. Some of these security vulnerabilities can be addressed through facility improvements. We have great teachers, great students, and great families in Nederland. Let's retain these three things that make Nederland great.

I'm pro-STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)... STEM-related jobs are expected to continue skyrocketing over the next century. Over the years, our school district has taken huge strides in improving student interest in STEM. Who is the leading STEM school district in our area? Who is developing the next doctors, engineers, scientists, and STEM teachers the best? We can be that ISD! I want to further push for local industry partnerships, equipment, tools, teachers, and opportunities that can give our students a leg up on competition.

I'm pro-trade development... We need to recognize that not all students want to go to college. Considering the greater Houston area, we live in a refinery/plant metropolis. Great paying trade jobs - are - EVERYWHERE. A recent post on the NHS CTE facebook page showed a student with his lap joint weld. These are skills we need to commend, and I want to continue pushing for the development and expansion of our trade school and CTE programs.

I'm pro-extracurriculars... Unashamedly, I might add. I can't say enough about the benefits of participating in our school sports, fine arts, UIL academics, and all of our other various clubs and organizations. These students learn teamwork, diligence, commitment, time-management, valuable leadership skills, and studies show they earn higher GPAs vs their non-participating peers. Participating on behalf of our community gives a feeling of honor and pride that just can't be taught in the classroom. We should celebrate our extracurricular success at Nederland and ensure we are equipping our students with the support, equipment, and facilities they need for continued success. A strong extracurriculars program is an attribute we need to sustain in Nederland.

I say all that to say Nederland already does a lot of things really, really well. But we can be better, and we can do better. We can set the standard, and we should not sell ourselves short. I’m a firm believer our school district is the backbone of the city, and I’m passionate about Nederland taking pride in the black and gold. If you’re wanting to vote for someone that takes pride living in Nederland, that’s raising his family in Nederland, and will always seek and expect the best for Nederland, I’m your person.

Help me be a voice for our students, teachers, and families!

I highly doubt that. Pam offense been rolling since the Nederland game. Although it it might not been against world class defense they pretty much been scoring at will. Only thing I will question is the coaching and as long as he stay out his own way this gamw should be a breeze.

Nederland could have had 95 yards to go. PNG was not stopping the big two. When PNG loaded the box and brought the safety down the post was wide open deep middle. When y’all dropped the linebackers back into coverage no one wasn’t touching Simmons after about 4 yards past the line of scrimmage and he was getting extra yac due to poor tackling and wrapping up. Huge difference I seen from both defenses was PNG not wrapping up and Nederland was. But something that people aren’t saying is Nederland was gang tackling. All 11 gold helmets would be within 5 yards after PNG player was down. (Mainly RJ)

But y’all had your Storm Trooper uniforms on. We figured y’all would be ready for a little water... Besides, we only did it in case there were flares shot on the field. One team seemed a tad bit more prepared than the other.

They potentially lost 10 yards at the most, balls on the 25 for a touchback and Ned started the last drive at the 35.  It's the high percentage play versus giving up a bigger return.

If Nederland didn’t give up late TD to lose to central their would be a 3 team tie for district championship. We were also 14 yards away to tie memorial. But that’s ALL water in the bridge and a L on the column.  But what’s not is the PNG game. PNG can still say they are Co-District champs sharing with PA. There can only be one winner in the Bum Phillips bowl and that’s Your NEDERLAND BULLDOGS. I’ll take that over co district champs any day.

I didn’t see this big talent gap that png is claiming to have.  I think they had the best player on the field last night, but Nederland had some darn good ones too.  Nederland is I think 7 points from being an undefeated team.  You might have underrated us before the game, but I have hard time buying we are less talented after the game.
