Isnt Riley a coach now? (TD's son)
Yep, he coaches at University of Texas!

Sorry BMTSoulja1 you already missed it. Was a great game too!!! Was really impresssed with the two transfers....Yes. Tell local media that place, time and date. I want to make sure I DON'T miss this time! BG and I will attend..

I had this big long write up but deleted it, instead, here is my quick version opinion. If a kid playing at Nederland, or any other high school, wants to play at the next level, and thinks they have the tools to do so, go prove it on the field, get their name in recruiting data base and go to college camps. Simply being a camp phenom will get you an offer from some level of college. I have a different opinion on what Nederland coaches will do for their players. I happen to think they do all they need to do. Be careful what you wish for too. A full ride to play college ball is a hard ride to finish. Your son will go through things you can't imagine just to get that degree at the end. I can't even attempt to write down in words the dedication it requires to finish what they start, nor can I explain the gratitude for finishing. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Work, work and more work biaplayer! Football04 pretty much nailed who is coming back for Nederland next year. Should be a great MCM next year, I actually give PNG the edge for having the better team early in the season while it will take Nederland a few games to figure out where everyone needs to be.Still the same ole James lol, what up Buddy?
-
What's up biaplayer? Man we have 11 D1 players coming back next year on defense. Shame none of them will go play college ball cause they don't play for Ozen!come on James you know more about your DOGS than i do, who else yall got coming back?
-
I've seen the Mayfield kid play and would agree he has potential to play at the next level. Kid started his career off with an injury and has come a long ways.

See this is the harsh reality about MOST winning programs such as Nederland WOS etc. Who is it really about? The coach/school or the players? Cause in reality the coach and the school is the only one who benefits from winning. Which is essentially more important having your team win a district championship or have your kids go on to get a free education?
Take a program like Ozen and Nederland for instance, Nederland goes undefeated but only signs 2 players. However Ozen only wins 3 games, don't make the playoffs but sign 10 players. So which program do you really considered to be more successful?
Which program do I consider more successful? Easy, Nederland. Always said put the Nederland coaching staff in front of an Ozen team who had 10 D1 players on it and Ozen wins state. People just can't grasp just how good our coaching staff makes our players. We don't have 10 D1 players at Nederland but the boys play team ball. They play for each other not for themselves to get a college chance. So I consider Nederland more successful.

New Stadium, new conference, great school, great education, play 2 non conference games against teams like Texas, Alabama, LSU, Florida, and program is turning around. Dallas area, just seems like a good fit. Little bias I guess with my opinion.

Heard also that one of the two new big guys plays basketball. Just when you thought we couldn't replace last years front four on defense. Wow! I am so glad they played this spring game so that all this was made known to those who were not in the know, can now know, what we already knew, about what we know, from those who knew we didn't know, can now know. That spring game sure did clear up a lot of unknown!
-
wow what a game. Where did I miss the two big kids move into town. Man those two are going to make running the ball against us impossible....Always a surprise or two at these spring games......

Not yet, but I hope to hear from them soon. Caleb has received the (2) offers mentioned above. Schools who have shown the most interests thus far in no particular order are: La Tech, Uni. Louisiana-Monroe, Southern Louisiana, Sam Houston St., Houston Baptist, San Angelo, [glow=red,2,300]North TX.[/glow] He also had Jr. Day visits to UTSA, Uni. Louisiana-Lafayette, and Lamar. Thanks for asking, Team Malveaux.

I will have to agree with Soulja, Central may have found them some coaching help and I know they have players walking the halls at Central. Just won't happen early enough as in next year Soulja.....
-
Yep, Coach Barrow gets down in the dirt and tell em you go here, you go there, and in the end you catch it here. Remember the game winner Seth caught at Reliant, yep, came from the dirt!!! lol
Central is going to be better just not Bulldog ready yet Soulja....close, but not ready.... -

If the regular Nederland coaching staff is involved in this 'spring game', then that would mean it's an organized practice/spring game. So, you manage to squeeze an entire 'game' into an in school athletic period? Games are about 2 hours. Isn't in school athletic periods about 45 mins?
Relax BMTSoulja1, this is simply a throw together flag football game done during regular school hour football period. Kinda fun for the boys and a little bragging rights heading into the summer. Some dads show up and a few die hard fans come to watch. Heck they practically draw up plays in the dirt. Then again, this one secret game right before summer starts could be the answer to all of Nederlands success. Lol! Enjoy you summer Souja, you guys are taking another beating next year cause of this secret scrimmage..... -
2006 at PNG - Nederland losing at halftime and come from behind to beat PNG at their place. If anyone has a copy of the Friday Night Experience of that game I would appreciate a copy.
-
I got that lucky feeling again Soulja,,,,,bring on the popcorn! I agree with ya tho,,,, 60 plus points, shame it's gonna be the Dogs getting there first,,, 63 to 56,,,,,,,,,called it first,,,,,,, ;)
-
Must be tough having to hang on to that "CO" part Soulja, hang in there someday you guys might feel what it's like to take the whole piece of the pie. Been awhile since you had it....hang in there..... :) Nederland wins this one simply from better outside shooting....no need to rebound when you shoot over 50% from outside,,,,tonight they hit em, last time they didn't,,,,that opens up the down low game,,,,,watch and learn!!!! ;) :) ;D

Did I mention the need for 3,,,,,English scores 31! Can you guys take your toys and start a new topic. I really like keeping this one to Nederland wins!!
Soulja you gonna buy me some popcorn and coke???
English is really good! Actually I've stated to Soulja he's IMO their best player. But, he won't score 31. Central is too long and athletic. The Jags will make him take difficult shots. He will score some, just not 30.
Can't imagine how hard it is for Coach English to juggle being the head coach and dad. Just once I'd like to see English let loose the best shooter in the area just to see how he would light it up. Being the coach that he is he wouldn't do that and I understand and respect that totally, still I wonder just what that kid could do if they fed him the shot time and time again. 31 might just be cutting him short....Would be fun to see!
I told Soulja the same thing. He should be featured with everyone else as role players.
Featuring him is what I refer to as the hard part as far as being the head coach and dad at the same time. Call me greedy or foolish, but just once turn the kid loose, win or lose, good game plan or bad game plan, just once feature him for the entire game. The kid has earned it, and he is a senior, plus, I just like the kid and his attitude, all around great kid....Now if they come out and beat Central playing a slowed down half court game that pounds the ball inside and they win,,,,, forget everything I said, well, almost every thing....Dogs win this on Soulja......
Do you want Nederland to rain 3's on us or pound it on the inside, James?
First Soulja i need to let you know there really isn't much difference in football forum and basketball forum, all district go through Nederland. Wow! never thought I'd ever be able to say that, but how true,,,champs in both right now,,,, now for a more serious topic, I simply want to see the English kid featured more, that is just me as a fan with a want, I want the win, but would just like to see him go off and the team feed off of him for an entire game, just once...I have no dog in the fight just a fan with a want,,, the district still goes through Nederland until they are no longer champs.... -

In order for the Dogs to win they need to turn English loose and let him rain in 3's,,,,,,little partial to watching this kid shoot the ball. Hope he rips twenty 3 point attempts.....
-
Nederland wins 58 to 53 behind a hot hand of English raining 3's! I would love to see this kid get 20 looks behind the arch, just one night! Never know!!!
-
Good luck to all finalists!
Kid from Vidor is a player. True statements made about All-state selections. You really need some Houston exposure to make it. Always helps to go two rounds deep in the playoffs so you do.
