1. So your telling me that Kelly is going to lose over 300 students, the difference in size between legacy and kelly, here soon?
 2.
No one is upset with Coach Long for leaving because he is such a fine person.  That said, to say it has been common knowledge among the Kelly community for months that he would be leaving is a stretch.  Only fairly recently did he know that he would be able to have an opportunity to be nearer to his apents.
You did not read what I said. I said it was common knowledge that Coach Long would leave at some point in time because he needed to complete his time in the public schools.

I just think if your not familiar with the Kelly community and program you shouldnt be talking about it. bmtball, your def right Kelly has a good deal of senior talent, and the incoming freshman are the most talented class to come through since well this years senior class.
This is public forum so I will discuss the "Kelly community" if I please.  My point is that there are kids that play ball at Kelly.  Kids that were counting on their coach to be there, not to drop them in July for a public school assistant job so that he can get his "retirement".  He could've done this earlier, since this has been his plan (according to you), in order for them to have more time to find a suitable replacement.  That is all I am saying.  Seems kind of disloyal to the players who have been loyal to Long.
Coaches leave all over the state of Texas.  Players loyal to Long?....no.  Loyal to Kelly?....sure.  Good for Coach Long.  Best wishes for Kelly. They will find a Coach that will want to "move" there.
Exactly, Kelly players are there playing for Kelly. And discuss Kelly all you want but don't spout off your opinions of what the Kelly community and players think.
i'm pretty sure you "spout off" on anything you want to on this forum as long as it is within the rules of the site.
What I'm saying is it's not fair to Coach Long, the Kelly players, and the community for an outsider to come on here and say what he thinks the Kelly players are feeling. As I've mentioned before every player on Kelly knew that at some point in time he was going to leave so it was not a huge surprise. There is no grudge being held or anything along those lines. Coach Long needed to be closer to his parents and the situation is what it is. No one is feeling betrayed.

 6.
Kevin tends to be interested in any open job in setx.  Good luck to him though.  I would expect that the people in Warren would like him to hang around and build a program, like he said he was going to.
Coach Barbay got his start at Kelly so I don't know that you can fault him for being interested. At the end of the day, all this is is a suggestion from Coach Long. He won't hire the new coach, the principal and hiring committee will.
 7. Coach Long has left Kelly to be the Offensive Coordinator/QB Coach at Clear Creek High School. The job is open and several candidates have expressed interest. This job should be filled fairly quickly, as the Bulldogs have qualified for both public and private 7 on 7 state tournaments. The rest of the Bulldogs staff will remain intact.
 8. There still isnt alot of size coming in with the freshman group you are referring to. The Road to State will always go through Houston (Yates, Lamarque, Ball, etc) That being said Nederland should be the most dominant team in the area for several years to come.
 9.
Kelly: Nick Schrapps, Brandtley Wilson, Nick Barber, and Oshea Kenebrew
Left out a few Dillon Guidroz RB/CB Willie Lighty TE/LB Mark Figuerias C (Lost in game 1 of last season, All State as a sophomore), Ryan Bean, John Rugg, Eddie Scott (If Kelly can compete here they will be tough to beat) Will Darling (Tough task of stepping in to Eddins spot)
 10.
Why would they even consider a 3A assistant with no head coaching experience at a 5A high school?
The fact that you made this comment is ridiculous, Coach Brooks is just as important to the silsbee program as Coach Williams.
 11. If you go buy just their high school careers Persia is #1, although Mullenax was a 4 year starter with 3 straight trips to the state championship game. However if you factor in their career beyond high school I think you have to give Mullenax the nod. Taylor had a good career at St. Edwards and really changed his game to being more of a 3 or a stretch 4. He's go on to a nice career playing professional basketball overseas.
 12.

Brown didn't graduate from Kelly he graduated from Memorial....technicality!  LOL!
Johnathan Brown. J'Covan brother
Going to cut this answer some slack based on the fact that you probably aren't too familiar with the Kelly program. The Top four are: 1a. Taylor Mullenax 1b. Edward Persia 3. Ryan Zummo 4. Jude Messina
 13.
Forum is going slow so maybe this will pick things up. Who do you think is the best player to GRADUATE from a local private school in the past 10 years? Player that come to mind from Kelly: Edward Persia, Mason Moncla, Matt Pace, JB Brown, Taylor Mullenax, Torre Henry Don't know much about Legacy but i think i remember a pretty good player named Ford not to long ago?
It would help if three of the best players Kelly ever had were on this list. Ryan Zummo and Jude Messina are two of the top 4 scorers in Kelly history. Keenan Simon should also be on this list. He was a phenomenal athlete who earned a scholarship to LSU for track. The list of choices should look like this: Edward Persia, Taylor Mullenax, Ryan Zummo, Jude Messina, Keenan Simon, Blake Lognion. These are the best players Kelly has had in the last 10 years.
 14. He coached at Kelly last season and St. Pius the year before that
 15. The Kelly Bulldogs opened spring practice today. The Bulldogs will have spring practice Tues-Thurs of this week, and for two more weeks. The Bulldogs are returned by returning seniors Nick Schrapps, Brandtley Wilson, Eddie Scott, John Rugg, Dillon Guidroz, Daniel Messina, Mark Figuerias, Lucas Cook, Chris Scheurich, Ryan Ozio, Nick Barber, and Oshea Kennebrew. Will Darling has the unenviable task of replacing departed Senior QB Dakota Eddins. The Bulldogs have alot of returning talent it should be a fun year.
 16. Parents are absolutely part of the program. Family is a big part of any program, especially at the private school level. We have wonderful parents that step in and help when they are needed. Like Woody Hayes said "You win with people."
 17. Frank Middleton will be the offensive line coach
 18. Kelly will have a whole new staff on the defensive side of the ball, Coach Fischer will be coaching the linebackers and be the DC, Coach Troy Espree will be the defensive backs coach, and the defensive line job is tbd
 19. It's a shame that Dakota Eddins is not on the list....Injury aside there might not have been a hotter QB through the first part of the season.
 20. If Kelly can win this game and beat Houston Christian it will guarantee their playoff berth.
 21.
Yes, there is a call that is a blarge. I am a referee in the Beaumont chapter, and my nephew was playing in the game so I attended, and the way it should have happened was it is the younger officials call to make because he was under the basket if i am not mistaken.  When the other official "older referee" blew his whistle he should have allowed the younger referee to take the call.  So for those of you who state it was a power struggle i am not quite sure it was.  It was a matter of doing the right thing and in that situation it a blarge was correct.  But I do believe the older referee should have gave it up to the younger referee because he was underneath the basket.
Your a referee? good I have a scenario for you that I want to see what the call is.... Team A has the ball. A player for Team A shoots the ball, while the ball is in the air a player for Team B is called for a loose ball foul during the course of the blockout. The shot goes in. Team A gets the points, the player for Team B gets the foul and it is Team B's ball. Correct?
