I know these kids well, and I've seen them play lots of 'big' games since they were in 7th grade. I KNOW they r going to be special. However, Nederland WILL be rebuilding next year. There is NO way around it. When U lose your starting five, U have to replace them w/a new starting 5. That is called rebuilding.
At HJ, we prefer to call it "Reloading"!!!! ;)
We've never had that luxury at Nederland (until now). We will be 'reloading' for years to come thanks to a lot of dedication from parents and coaches.
Thats what I was trying to get at HonestAbe! ;D Reloading! We WILL go through growing pains to start, but thats what summers are for, AAU tourneys and individual practice to get better. This group coming up has great work ethic. Want to be in the gym working on something that needs fixing. But this is all next year talk!We need to give credit to this team and their accomplishment! Now lets make a name for ourselves in Basketball and make a trip to Austin!
Well, you never said anything about reloading, but I'll talk to coach English about that as a motto after they make their trip to Austin. Let's finish this debate in mid-March after they do some damage in the playoffs. We can talk about each player if you want to. Like you, I know all of them.
Sounds like a plan ;) Hopefully we wont talk until after they come back from Austin

I still think to this day if they woudl have made atleast 5 more free throws they would have been playing for a state championship that year. IMO free throws are as easy as you want them to be, I've seen players just staright up panic when they get the free throw line. Then I've seen other players get up there like its nothing and sink the biggest two shots of the season....its all about muscle memory
I agree with everything you say. However, sometimes, a fluke comes along. Ask LeBron how he felt yesterday when he had two shots to tie the game with the Celtics in the last 10 seconds. Sometimes the mental aspect influences the muscle memory.
True, but I also heard the ESPN announcer quote some sick percentages from Lebron when the game is near the end and the score is close..... something like 90-95% during that time. The only problem with the percentages is sometimes those "5-10%" chances actually happen.
This wasnt ANY game- it was the Celtics
Ok.............. Are you allowed to miss a shot against the 76'ers and not the Celtics?
The suggestion is the pressure is greater against the celts than the sixers. YOu may make a 6 foot putt with me and miss it with Tiger in the foursome
Dont think players are scared of Tiger anymore :D

They will young and competing to win district again
Anytime you lose 5 starters (two MVPs) plus 4 more who contribute; the following year will be a rebuilding year. I know, I know, their JV is stacked- I agree, but they'll probably have only one Senior starting next year. They'll be good, but it will be a rebuilding year b\c of their losses.
The Sophs that played JV competed in Varsity Tournaments all summer and know what its like to go up against some talent ;) Not to mention they push the varsity in practice and make them compete hard.. I dont doubt that losing the big 3, along with the senior leadership will be hard to deal with at first, but the group in waiting has excellent chemistry which helps them win alot of games

Games are won and loss at the line, except in an completely embarrassing game. The first type of shot that should be taught to a kid is a free-throw. This way they can develop muscle-memory and perfect a stroke that gets the ball in the hoop. I agree that too many kids are worried about the pre-shot more than the actual mechanics. Top 3 things in basketball that win games: 1) Free-Throw Shooting (Makes) 2) Rebounding Difference 3) Turnover Difference
#1 is defense! This will take care of the top three you mentioned.
Doesnt out-rebounding the other team and forcing more tunrovers go along with Defense? Come on Dove ;) I know better than that

Congrats to all the coaches and players! District Champs again! Now lets focus up for next week and make it "Undefeated" District Champs! -
Anyone who has seen the Nederland Bulldogs play basketball this year can say that this one of the best teams in the program's history.. One of the few groups to ever win a tournament, few groups to know what the playoffs are like, and now they have a chance to finish off an amazing district season by going undefeated.. Congrats to all the Dogs.. Now finish the job tonight against Ozen and against LCM next week ;)

I think he is done at Lamar.. That right about seals it -
I caught on ;) I was just taking one last jab at Vidor.. All in good fun

This is going to be an awesome game, and the key factor is Lewis. That kid can straight up ball and I expect a huge game for him. If LaMarque runs some type of motion offense with the ball in Lewis's hands, they will win.. If they play standing around like the last game, they will lose.. Is this being broad-casted online again?
If Vidor defeats PNG and Livingston in their final two games they advance to the playoffs as the #4 seed..............who would have thunk it? ;D ;D ;D
Vidor getting only the 4th playoff spot?? ??? ??? I thought they were poised to win district? oh wait.. :D ;D For this game, I think PN-G will win at home, but it will be a close game
When was the last time Nederland went undefeated in district, anyone know ? Has to be more than 50-60 yrs. That's a good reason to be fired up for Ozen come friday night.
"Nederland" and "undefeated district champs" are two things that have never been the same.. These guys have said from the start that they were ready to sweep district and make in to Austin.. Great play by the Dogs so far.. The hard work is getting them recognized.. Now they need to TCB and finish this thing off
Nederland have 2 6'5" bigs, but Ozen have 1 6'8" kid that have the length that can bother Nederland. Ozen still does have weapons at their disposal. It will be interesting to see how Ozen plays this one...
I dont think that will be a problem for Forney and K-smith in the dog dome
