I'm going to try and make this very simple for you. Silsbee is better than HJ this year. Talent is better and you cant run from that truth. We can all spit out numbers of how bad a team is going to lose, but in the end, all that really natters is that the team you picked was right or wrong. I cant judge HJ from just one game, but I knew that team wasnt going to beat Silsbee, and will probably lose before they make it back to play Silsbee in playoffs. If you are judging your teams success of your record, then you sound like people from Vidor. Overall records can say whatever, but its the the true record of how you did versus QUALITY teams that lets you know just how good your team actually is. Now we can argue over this HJ thing all day, but that isnt going to change what the record says.. Silsbee got the "W"... & HJ got the "L".... How bout HJ focus up for their games next week, and lets move on  ;)
OK, I'm going to try and make this very simple for you. Everybody who watched that game Friday night came away realizing one (or two) things.  Silsbee might be better than HJ, but HJ has the ability to beat Silsbee this year.  OK, maybe a few die hard fans may think its impossible, but the important thing is, the HJ players know it.  They suspected it at first, but they probably had doubts.  Now there is no doubt.... they can beat Silsbee.  It may take one or two "if only's" for HJ to pull off the win, but you and I both know that "if only's" happen all the time!
:D Aint that the truth! One of those "If Only's" is going to to happen next time they play because it going to be played @ HJ  ;) Ask people from outside Sour Lake about that Home-cookin lol
He is already hedgin his bets by saying if HJ should win, it would only be because the refs cheated.  And he belittles some fan for thinking highly of their own team?  Have asked him twice how such an inferior team had a twelve point lead in the other teams home gym.  Never got a response.  Pretty interesting.  Here is the other FACT>  He OVERPLAYED his evaluation of HJ and cant escape that via the results from the first game.  Game indicated there was little difference between the two teams but he will NEVER admit his miscallculation(Silsbee will mop the floor with HJ) which is documented by the game.  H
I know you would like to think of yourself as the genius of this message board, and the ultimate guru of basketball, but your not.. HJ lost, and Silsbee won.. Want me to answer your question? Hj came out fired up because its a Huge Basketball rivalry.. Want me to give you an example too? PNG was beating Nederland 9-3 after the first quarter, and continued to play hard throughout the game because they wanted to beat us really bad, but in the end, the better team pulled away and got the win.. Sounds like the same kind of game we are talking about right now huh? Get over it.. Congrats to Silsbee on the win, and good luck to HJ moving foward
That cant be.  Hj was "declared" as unworthy of Silsbee by a "guru of this message board" and that Silsbee would "mop the floor" with HJ.  HJ lead for the first three quarters(byas much as 12 pts) on the opponents floor (sorry- not the same case for Ned-PNG)NOthing has changed.  You simply overestimated your opinion of how  incompetent  HJ would be this year and you are wrong, not by my standards but by most reasonable people who dont have an axe to grind with some of the HJ faithful. HJ proved that there is not that much difference between the two teams other than Silsbee has superior depth.  That is acknowledged by both HJ and Silsbee supporters and strongly contradicts the "wisdomic" "mop the floor" prediction which, like it or not, was blatantly inaccurate.
Im done talking with you for now about this.. But dont worry, I will be back to chat again next time they play  ;)

 4. @ UT, I like the University of Texas Longhorns to win by 5 or 10 points
 5. I guess I had better take that very seriously since it is coming from  an "analyst" associated with a  tradition rich program.  Two or three years ago?  Hmmmm!!!! Aren't you (yes, you are) the one who DEMANDED that history not be discussed?  HYPOCRISY  Also noticed you refused to respond to my inquiry about why such a weak team had the top area team down by 12 on their home court?  The reason is they are capable of doing that but you aren't about to admit that.  Ask the Silsbee coaching staff and anyone else at the game just how" Silsbee wiped the floor" with HJ.  Could it be that you possibly misjudged?  NOOOO, that can't be it.  Somebody played games with the scoreboard or Silsbee players were sick.  It COULDNT possibly be that you were wrong Sorry I have been gone for so long buddy, but I had other things to take care of first before coming back here to see what you had to say.. You can point out flaws and say "If this" or "If that", but the fact is... Silsbee got the "W", and HJ got the "L".. Same result, different place next time.
I don't think this was the result that most people thought would happen.  If you read what people like BadSanta wrote, they were very surprised that HJ was in the game for so long.... especially after falling behind 5-0. And from what you saw during the Nederland - HJ game and the Silsbee - Ball game, I seem to recall you thinking that HJ won't stand a chance of beating Sislbee. Now, the HJ faithful watched the game and found out that HJ can stand toe to toe with Silsbee and, giving a break here or there, they can beat Silsbee. So, if you think, "same result", you might be mistaken. 11.
Officially, DC is 6-4 all time against HJ. '08 Freshman year    2-2 '09 Soph. year        2-1 '10 Junior year        2-1 '11 Senior year      ????
2-0! I thought they only play twice in district?  ;) ;D
 12. I dont what it is about this group, but they cant come to play for 4 quarters.. Have so much talent and potential thats its scary, but cant seem to pull it together for an entire game.. Nederland is the best team is the district when they lace up to play some actual basketball, but there are too many times that I have seen them look awful and just going through the motions.. Thank goodness they put on the press to get into some kind of rhythm, or Central would have put the hammer down on this game At least one good thing came from all of this.. 4-0 ;)
 13. Vidor might be able to win this game, but it is always hard to win AT LCM
 14. Get DC into foul trouble. Silsbee is going to rely heavy on him to produce in scoring, defensive rebounding, and blocking shots. And they need to contain Lane from getting his offensive game going . DC maybe be the best player in the area and on the team, but Lane and the other guards make them a tough team to beat.
 15. Good team this year. They dont look like they have a lot of selfish players to ruin chemistry. They will have plenty of chances to prove themselves in conference.

 18. Glad they pulled out the win.. But I wanna know what the heck was going on?

I don't think, however, that a close game that Vidor loses destroys the theory that playing a weak pre-district schedule will adversely effect Vidor in district play. IMO the Nederland game may have actually showed what happens when a team having played a weak schedule plays a team that has played a tough schedule.  When it counted the team with the tougher schedule was able to pull out the win and finish.  Vidor was used to playing from the lead and not from behind....not a lot of close games to challenge them them in the preseason.   Vidor is a good team and I believe they will vie for the 4th playoff spot.
AMEN!
I am not criticizing anyone. I am just saying if you have never seen them play then you have no hard evidence behind your logic. The only thing you have is the schedule difficulty, but maybe there was some uncontrolable factors that kept Vidor from play a more difficult schedule. There could be multiple reason why, but who are you to judge at team of teenagers that work there but off everyday. You don't know how talented Vidor is. You have not seen them play. So why make a thesis only on pure opinion. It will be a tough intense game, but Vidor will not lose by 15-20. An I did not call you ignorant for stating you prediction. I called you ignorant, because of you saying the point spread was going to be Ozen winning by 15 or 20. That is just ridiculous.
Talking with your heart. Have pride for your team, but the fact is Vidor is going to take it's second loss.
 21. Silsbee by at least 10. Better team and HJ cant guard DC. He should have a monster game. Matchup problems everywhere except an even duel at the PG. Silsbee's year and they will TCB at home.
 22. I agree that it is the coach's team and he makes all the rules, but it is the kids hair. If he wants to have it a certain way and it isn't a major distraction, then let him. If it doesn't impact his performance, then I don't see a problem. But the main rule in a basketball program is that the coach is in charge, and what he says goes, but at the same time, having some respect for the kids and their choice of hair style.
 23. Chance for Vidor to silence all the talk, but I dont think its going to happen. Vidor has only played one team that has running ability, presses successfully, and has players that Vidor has match-up problems against. Ozen will bring plenty of that, which will help them win by at least 10. JMO
