2.
Yes Tarkington is 3A and Daisetta is 1A. HD has 18 kids suited up. HD has dominated. Tyler Drake goes in for a 35yd TD. Bobcats lead 28-6 with 8:28 to go. Not sure how Tarkington scored 30+ points on Hardin. Their only score tonight came on a fumble returned for a score.
don't have the advantage of being there, last week it seemed kountze just committed 9 or 10 to the run between the tackles and stuffed it, is that your take on how HD is playing them? even though it looks like it's shaping up poorly for the horns i'm really sorry i couldn't make this one. congrats to HD and thanks for keeping us posted...
 3.
wow if Tarkington loses i will have no respect for them  :D
why? isn't HD a pretty good team?
 4.
12-0 half Kountze 20-0 FINAL SCORE Kountze--prepared for Tarkington's offense and ran with their big guy.  Tarkington--flat on both sides of the ball.  Where was the Tarkington team that played so well against Hardin last week?
thats a good question, i think they were there but it's all about the adjustments, kountze did a good job filling the box and collapsing running lanes and tarkington didn't (or couldn't) offer anything to spread them, but that's just a layman's observation, i ain't no analyst. if no one objects i normally take my crow with a lemon marinade and heavy dose of pepper (from the predictions post) but i still think Coach C is making great progress and the Horns have better days ahead.
 5. Horns won't be underdogs after this week if they keep their heads on and keep playing hard ;D, Coach C is the man...Ttown is very fortunate to have him.
Not weird, 38 seconds on clock when they kicked, Hardin kid basically called a fair catch then dropped down on the ball. Clock doesn't start till the ball is touched. Still a great game though, Tarkington's offense will give you some fits, it became a game to us in the stands trying to figure out who had the ball.
what was weird was that when the horns scored it read 35 and was subsequently reset to 39 (or 38 as you say) before the kick, of course official time is kept on the field i'm supposing so that was why there was a discrepancy, of course at that point horns fans were hoping it would just wind down  ;D. i don't guess i ever paid that much attention to the announcer at home, but other places it seems there is always a little "home field" bias at least when it comes to enthusiasm. did somebody say they were actually calling formations? i guess i better start paying better attention  :D

 8. why not just change the ball? everybody has to go buy new bats because some are too "hot"? it's ridiculous, all they have to change is the ball (which get replaced every game anyway), oh wait, that wouldn't make the bat companies filthy rich all over again. here's one for you, just let the umpires bring 5 bats to every game 29" to 33", both teams use the same bat and nobody has an "advantage", and if a kid is too fast let's tie his shoelaces together. just change the ball and be done with it. with today's science balls could be designed for less exit speed and still maintain "long flight", infielder safety is the issue, not home runs, correct? all i can say is that bat prices need to drop appreciably if they pushing us down this road. just my opinion, i think this a "money" move, not a logistical one, too easy to change the ball.

 11.
Ha. That's been the thought for years but very rarely happens. As the saying goes, Talent is in the eye of the beholder unless it's a coach's, boardmembers or friends kids.  All-Stars in my eyes should be selected from the offical scoreboard with the highest 8 batting avg and the best 4 pitchers by K's making it.
you're right it rarely happens that an all star team is all the "best" players, regardless of age. it's been said there is no "perfect" way so most leagues accept the almost least perfect way. but chances are real good that the top 4 pitchers will also be in the top 8 batting ave. (which are less significant than you would think within a range because guess what-that team with the dad stacked pitching staff never has to face the "best" pitching) so that still leaves you with only 8 to maybe 10 players. it sounds like the "problem" is that some 11 y.o. in that league are better players than some of the 12 y.o., on the bright side if you're playing against other 12 y.o. only teams hopefully they're hamstrung the same way.  ;)
 12.
I think baseball/softball are some of the hardest to pick when it comes to alldistrict. The old saying goes "Figures lie and Liars figure". What you call a hit, I may call an error. A batting average should be universal but it depends on who is keeping ithe book for each team.  Also what is better a SS that makes about 3 plays a game that nobody else will make for outs and bats .250 or a below average SS that bats .333?
Excellent points. It sounds a bit like LL all-stars. You know it seems a shame that official scorers aren't an element, if each team keeps it's own books then one game could be scored quite differently by each team couldn't it?
 13. How does the All District selection process work?
 14.
WOW! Coach Riojas has really been great with that program! Congrats to everyone at WOS
A good coach really can make a difference, I don't know what WOS was like before but looks like he's got them going in the right direction, and from his interview on kfdm along with a couple of players it's apparent that "making the playoffs" is not enough for those guys, they want to win and advance and that's exactly what they did. Good luck to them, the competition will be tough but that kind of heart and energy can win them some games against "more skill talented" opponents.
 15.
Reason #1 you shouldn't give information out about your team. It never fails that the other team skates around giving information about thier team. That being said, I actually don't blame him for asking and then not telling. Very smart. We should be so savy. Go Stangs.
Actually I was being serious, it's anybody's guess, I would assume Josh would get the rock but you really never can tell. Having said that there's a couple of points here: 1. Knowing the names and records of pitchers has absolutely no impact on the game. If coaches and/or players "scout" solely in a forum then they're not very diligent. Even if I could tell you intimate details of our pitcher's tendencies, how fast he threw, or what he ate for breakfast, none of which I know, it's basically all just trivia. It's just fan curiosity and courtesy. I don't know his record, he won some big games early on in district (or he wouldn't be our "ace" would he?) but the first Huffman win was another pitcher, so obviously someone else did a good job too, and he pitched the last Huffman win (all but one inning). Of course your coaching staff already knows all that if it matters, I don't think anybody is thinking about any of that when they're in the box with all of half a second to react to a pitch. We're just not that important in the scheme of the game. We're just fans and parents and sure we want our kids to come out on top but it's their battle to win or lose. 2. I appreciate baseballjunkie's response but as 929 said, it's not really any ground-breaking information that would impact the game. We can assume from WOS's record (from 3abaseball) that somebody is a pretty darn good pitcher to hold OF and BC to those low run totals. It's just TRIVIA, I wasn't looking for or expecting a scouting report and baseballjunkie didn't give one. Thanks for the courtesy junkie. Sorry if I couldn't capitulate appropriately. Now, how hard does Anderson throw, what are his tendencies, and what will he have for breakfast this Friday??
 16.
Anderson was 3-2 in district. lost to orangefield 4-3 and Bridge City 5-3...tough losses to great teams. the other pitchers are made up of Turley, Drouillard, Darnall, and Sparrow, any of em could throw at any time and be effective. Im assuming you're from Tarkington hitchpin, what do they have on the hill?
Josh Consemiu, but I'd be a fool to guess who the starter will be, a gambling man would have lost alot of money this year trying to figure out a rotation. From the looks of it this should be a competitive game with the deciding factors obviously being errors, above the belt "pitcher's mistakes", and .....the unknown. Hope it's a fun game to watch.
 17. Does WOS have one particular pitcher that stands out? They were 5-5 in district, but that is a tough district, did their ace throw in all those wins?
 18. Horns complete the season sweep 9-6, great job Horns
 19.
Crosby's refusal to play their best defensive players is there downfall. Quick playoff exit because of it.
that doesn't surprise me to hear that based on past experience, out of curiosity is Crosby using a DH?
 20. Ok I've got a question for all you baseball gurus out there. I know there's no hard and fast rule, but when and how often should the old hit and run be used, roughly? It seems that if it's used a lot (multiple times a game) that it becomes predictable therefore ineffective if almost every time a runner is on it's called (seems it would draw hard to hit pitches). Is this one of those things that gets overused by overzealous managers when they could instead let their better hitters be more selective about what pitch to hit or is there legitimate reason to run it without regard to situation? Appreciate any thoughts and discussion....
 21.
22-3A 22-3A Cleveland at Tarkington, 7:00 p.m. Liberty at Shepherd, 7:00 p.m. Splendora at Coldspring, 7:00 p.m.
Cleveland 6 at Tarkington 5
 22.
man what terrible weather for a JV tourney.....Good thing they canceled it, it twould have sucked for those kids to play it the sun shine with a nice breeze.
isn't that two years in a row it's been cancelled on short notice? not sure why they keep scheduling it if they don't intend to follow through. maybe schools should just not sign up for that one in the future.
 23.
sportsfan said liberty faced tarkingtons best picther......   tarkington did not see libertys 1st, 2nd, or 3rd pitcher.......  oh my , only[ 6 ] six varsity starters , started...     remember, district starts tuesday....
where were 1,2, and 3? surely they weren't gassed, didn't they win by 16 and then 22? they would have saved something for the championship game, just curious
 24.
Tarkington has some ok players and one pretty good player a short stop i think. But it will be hard for them to even make playoffs they have no pitching at all. their best pitcher is probably a junior and he throws high 70's low 80's on a good day
do what?  :o they made the playoffs last year and unless i'm missing something only lost one pitcher, a lefty, so they have no left hand pitching (does it really matter?) and nobody last year was a flame thrower. i'd take a player that can PITCH 70's and 80's over a guy that just THROWS hard, velocity is nice but movement and hitting spots can be very effective, just like homeruns are nice but you can win alot of games without 'em. i'm not saying they're a shoe-in, alot depends on the competition obviously....the real question is will they hit? don't they have several all district position players returning? alot of baseball before district so we'll see how it plays out..
