1. Kids WANT and NEED consistency.  If you are loud with one kid, you dang well better be loud with another kid, not soft-spoken.  The quickest way for kids to lose respect is for someone to show favoritism.  That's also the quickest way to get them to quit playing for you.  Everybody should be treated the same.  Have the rules sent home at the beginning of the year, with the punishment listed, have the parents sign it and send it back.  If someone doesn't agree with the rules, then take their child elsewhere.  ABIDE by the rules, though.  If a rule is broken, enforce it with whatever the punishment is.  Same with child-rearing.  You can't let a broken rule go by one time and then expect to enforce it the next time.  Kids are smarter than people give them credit.  They will use you and abuse you if you allow it.
2. I thought somebody said Angleton wasn't good this year?  where did I read that?  Maybe back in the Dayton vs WOS scrimmage....they played FW, I think.
3. This game is proof that anything can happen in hs football!!!!
4. I'd like to just throw something out there regarding the "poor academic school" situation. (I'm not pointing fingers at anybody, just making a comment here.)  I know that WOS, to say the least, does not "show well" on TAAKS testing and is rated below "acceptable" or whatever their ratings are.  They may be acceptable this year, I'm not sure.  But, just for the record, there are great teachers at WOS.  There are teachers still at the school who were there when WOS was ranked high in the academia charting statistics.  The problem is the kids.  The kids have changed and it's whether or not a kid WANTS to learn.  You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink.  Same with kids.  If a kids WANTS to learn, he/she will do so.  Moving for "academic reasons" doesn't set well with me, unless there are truly inadequate teachers in a school district.  Measuring teachers according to the TAAKS test doesn't fly by me.
5. I think it's one thing for a kid to move because the coach has "recruited" him and another thing if he moves for more playing time at a different school.  If he can't cut it at one school and moves to another, more power to him.  A lot of coaches would use that as a good reason for the kids that stayed to "get after" the other school when they play each other.  That being said, why would a coach want to keep a kid that he knows doesn't want to play for him?
6. Yep, I remember WOS being Silsbee's homecoming several years ago.  It's not a bad idea to get the boys pepped up trying to win homecoming!
7. I'd be willing to bet they get their stuff together!!!  They have a lot of tradition there!

9. Another original here, but the Ryan's there in Conroe is outstanding. ;D There's also a Texas Road House on I45. And McKenzie's has great hamburgers AND barbecue! (Someone mentioned that above)
10. FW Stangs has no clue what he is talking about.  The REASON the asst. coach "went after" the refs was to ask why there was no time left on the clock because the ball was thrown out of bounds with 3 seconds left on the clock.  THAT is why he went over to the ref after the game.  You would think he would just leave it alone.  He won the game, get over it!  Geez!!!!!
11. Nobody has caught more "heat" than WOS when they moved from 4A to 3A.  Everybody expected them to be a shoe in for a state berth.  Truth is, WOS had been playing with 3A numbers on the team long before the school dropped down in classifications.  The difference is the depth.  How many players have to go both ways.  It can only take you so far and if a key person gets hurt, it's usually crucial to your team.  We have had our share of injuries and misfortunes since dropping down.  I wouldn't listen to what everybody else says about K'ville not competing in 3A because they were 2A last year.  It's all baloney.  If you have the players, and they are all healthy, and you have a good game plan, you will succeed.  K'ville has a good coach, good players and have proven they can compete and win on several levels!!!
12.
As a member of the local chapter I take offense to your comments. I have never heard anyone in our chapter say anything bad or negative towards coach Mattews or the Vidor program. The only thing true in your statement is he doesn't use our chapter. If you call us bad officials that fine, you are allowed to have an opinion. My opinion is your head would explode if you tried to call a game. But I consider it an insult and a slap in the face to be called a cheater. The statement that he can't get a fair game is a bald face lie. I put in many hours of training, reading the rules book (ever seen one?) going to classes, clinics and discussing situations with fellow officials because I love the game. The only teams I pull for are in college or the pros. If any body tells you he can't get a fair game from the refs he's making an excuse for losing. Good luck with the guys you get, they work hard too.
Bet you can't say that about Hooks!  ;D
13.

As an unbiased observer I have to point out that the officiating was not as bad as some people on here are saying. There was a couple of questionable calls (both ways) but it did not change the outcome in my opinion. The interference call in the fourth quarter on WOS was definitely interference. The ball was in the air and the defender made contact, pushed, whatever you want to call it, the receiver. It did look like there should have been one or two seconds left on the clock after the last play. The worst thing about this whole game was when that official got knocked out and the WOS fans were applauding. That was inexcusable. And it wasn't just one or two people in front of me.
If there was ANY laughter it was because the announcer KEPT saying that it was a WOS Mustang down on the field!  How could he get THAT wrong?  The mighty MUSTANGS didn't HAVE on WHITE pants!!!!!  Friendswood did.  Well I hope you aren't trying to say it was everyone because we certainly weren't and I couldn't hear applauding from where I was sitting.

If there isn't there should be..Some of them look like a sack of potatoes with legs...I saw one get knocked down last week and it took the entire OL to pick him up.... ;D
LOL.
15. The touchdown pass was IN BOUNDS and the ref called him out of bounds.  THAT was crucial.  FW held all night long right in front of the refs and only had one holding call.  Their receivers pushed off every time they completed a long pass with defenders present.  If you call it for one side, by golly, call it for BOTH sides.  We SHOULD have made the two point conversions but we didn't.  At least our TD's were made legitimately. YOU go back and look at the tape FW.
Please - do not even start that.  Each team had a couple bad calls and plenty of no calls. That is not what changed this game. Do not sully the kids efforts with that garbage.
I hope you get to review the film again.  And yeah....it most certainly changed this game.

18.
They better investigate every school that paticipates in 7-7 then.  :-X
Unbelievable!  You are right, Goat.  They either need to leave it alone or not allow the 7 on 7 to continue.  It is ludicrous to think that other schools don't violate the "rules" in some form or fashion.  Those coaches could have been yelling..."Your mama just called and wants you to come home NOW!"
19. Beat him and then you won't have to worry about it anymore!
20. I would think that another Barbay would take over the reins where his father left off and continue the success enjoyed by the Eagles.
