1. I know that prayer helps and I'd like to send out a prayer request for Russell Bottley, graduate of WOS, former Mustang football player and current Mustang supporter/mentor.  He's helped coach/mentor the 7 on 7 teams for several years and has a great relationship with the kids at WOS.  He's been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemo treatments at this time.  I wish a speedy recovery for him!  He is one nice guy who always has a smile on his face!
 2. Reminds me of an old Roy Clark song...."Thank God and Greyhound (s)he's gone"

They let the kids "run" to the bus and then the bus takes off.  What if the guy tries to jump on one of the buses when the bus stops to let the kids off at their bus stop or homes?  Another brilliant move.  I thought lock-down meant NOBODY COMES or GOES!!!!  Geezzz!
Could it be this? From staff reports Orange Leader 4-21-2010 ORANGE — A manhunt is underway for the man who assaulted the owner of Mickey McNamara Insurance agency and his receptionist. According to Capt. Sparky Robinson of the Orange Police Department, a black man walked into the insurance agency located on Green Ave. about 1:20 p.m. and asked for money. He then assaulted the victims with a blunt object. The man then fled the scene. One of the victims was transported by helicopter to the hospital while the other was transported by ambulance. Both are said to have received serious injuries.
Yes, and one of them has passed away

 5. Wonder why the superintendent is worried about what people say on the internet when he doesn't listen to how they feel or what they want?

Yes, w.  I am a fan of Ronnie Anderson.  I imagine there are quite a few of those.  I am also a fan of stability.  That is how it has something to do with this.  Stable programs have done well as WO-S.  When those programs lost their stability, like the revolving door of baseball coaches that followed (including good coaches like Coach Thompson, Sam Moore, Steve Parkhurst and the like) that program had fallen on hard times. I would like to see some stability in the WO-S athletic program and I don't see that turning the program over to 61 year old will bring that.  If someone were to tell me that Coach Thompson was committed to carry on 8-10 years after Coach Hooks hung it up, I would happily reverse myself.  I just don't know that will happen.
When did Steve Parkhurst coach at WOS???? Isn't he an attorney??
LOL.  I think he means Westbrook.
 7. Also, WOS grad, it's obvious that you are a fan of Coach Anderson and that's ok but the baseball program was not left in "shambles" by Coach T or his closest successors.  It's only been in about the last 6 years that the program has not been competitive.  (Not that the baseball situation has anything to do with the subject at hand.)
 8. Did you ever think that Coach T's "lack of ambition" might be because he is just biding his time waiting for HIS chance to be the head coach/AD of the school that he loves?  He's not going to back stab his friend and boss for the job and he's not going to hurry Coach Hooks to retirement. Also,  I think there is ten years difference in their ages, though one might think that because Coach T has been around as long as he has that they are the same age. What the superintendent did was wrong.  Plain and simple.  He and certain  members of the school board obviously do not like the football program to be successful.  Their actions speak loud and clear.  Too bad the superintendent doesn't go back to Kentucky to be with his family and where basketball reigns.

'98 Bi-District round   Silsbee 21   #2 WOS  20 ;D
I seem to recall a punt that was muffed inside the 10 yd line.  What's the rule?  Never, never field a punt inside the 10!  I never thought of that year as your bad, kicker.  There was a kid that could run really, really fast but couldn't catch a cold!
 10.
With the coaches they have on staff, and the history they have with the program it will be a crime if they give it to an outsider.  They won't find anyone more loyal to WOS than Thompson or Foreman.  They give it to someone outside the program, and they will use it as a stepping stone, and resume builder. But.....  With my experience with the WOS admin, and school board, and from everything I read on here, they might not do the right thing.  Who knows?  Another option would be the Goodwin guy that left for his hometown Center.  He has turned around that place in one year, and has them in round 2.
This is an interesting post and leads me to believe you are not who you portrayed to be earlier.  Perhaps YOU now live in Center.
 11. Bobo said in an earlier post that he lives in Lumberton.  He said in this post that he moved his kids from WOS.  He dislikes the coaches and athletic program at WOS, as most of his posts prove.  That should answer many questions for those wondering.
 12. I believe that saying the backup qb is ready for varsity is a stretch, to say the least.  He will get his turn, eventually.  Please, guys, don't rush him.  Everybody made a big deal out of the current qb last year and his expectations were grossly overrated.  I'm not trying to take anything away from him, just trying to be realistic.  WOS is a team concept.  It takes all of them to be successful.  That's what happened in '86, '87, '88 and 2000.  They played as a team.  There were several standouts on each team, but the teamwork is what made them successful.
 13. There have been games in the past couple of years where O'field has had "nothing" to shoot for but they have always played with intensity until the last minute has ticked off the clock.  Mustangs better be on their hooves the entire game.......
 14. He didn't throw his helmet across the field.  It got ripped off his head.
 15.
I've been to HJ vs WOS game for 6 years in a row.  First time I can ever remember the Hawks standing toe to toe and battling it out with WOS.  Both sides left everthing they had on the field.  Some quirky calls both ways and both teams missed opportunities.  I bet if you ask players from either side, they tell you it was dog fight last night.  Congrats to the stangs, Hawks keep your head up.
Did you happen to compare the size of the kids from HJ and the size of the kids from WOS?  Absolutely no comparison.  In addition, add up the number of seniors vs. WOS' lineup.  Absolutely no comparison.  HJ is huge.  Of course it was a dog fight.
 16. Though we had some breakdown at various times during the game, do ya think the refs tonight have ever watched a football game before?  I've never seen such poor officiating...and I've seen a LOT of poor officials!
 17. I stand corrected Castor.  Let me wipe the egg off my face and get ready for tonight's game.
 18. Didn't WOS' defense shut down K'ville on the goal line to win the game this year?  That pretty much says it all to me.
 19. Feelings hurt?  Hardly.  Just weird to me that the only games that were canceled were the WOS vs HJ games due to "impending weather".
