Nations is 1:40. Forgot to mention tournament director is coaching a team too
Nations games are not 1:40... Most directors have a team even in Nations.. ;)
Every game I have played in Nations has been 1:40. I haven't coached younger than 11u though. Where have you played that the director was a coach? BTW, the local Nations guy runs an organization, and doesn't coach a team in any of his tournaments. Hey Rounder, are you a player or a coach? Or, are you like a player manager?
Both, and I would love for you to step in the box when im pitching.

Most of the time you wouldn't find out till Thur or Fri if the tourney would fill at all, if it did then you either got to play the same 3 or 4 teams each time or was asked to play up an age bracket. 90% of all teams playing were local teams only. If you wanted to play other teams you had to got to Htown or LA to get that. USSSA 1st tourney has 68 teams signed up with less than a dozen being local. if you local teams want that to continue then I would suggest you start signing up for their tourneys and supporting an org that is trying to bring better teams to our park to play. Had Morgan been as proactive the past 5 years as he is this year, then this situation wouldn't have ever happened. Now to clear up a few comments; The guy complaining about the director having a team, the Gladiators run the nations tourneys locally and have a team for every age bracket playing in all their tourneys..get  a clue. Renegades you chose to play up an age bracket at Nations instead of playing against teams in your own age bracket..please explaing to me how that is better for your players and what were the results from it? As for how the tourney went this weekend, it was unfortunate about the weather on Sat but they did a great job of being fair to all teams. Sunday ended up being a great day to play, and I think most teams enjoyed themselves and will hopefully come back. Ford park is one of the best facilities around, I would prefer to play most of my games here against better teams. I hope you will support it so they can continue to build on what just started.
This "situtation" happened because of a disgruntled ex gladiator parent. As for the director having teams in his tournament, the difference is he is not coaching any of them.
I beg to differ....just rememeber theres two sides to every story...and then theres the TRUTH.. but thats not the truth behind this "situtation"...
Oh. So he would've went to usssa and asked to become a director, had he still been with Gladiators? Doesn't make much sense to me. The problem is people are gonna be divided because of the situation. Me personally, my team will play both Nations and Usssa. Both have flaws, and some people have bad experiences with each. At the end of the day the kids get to play baseball, and that's all that matters. As for playing up, I personally don't have a problem with it. In the end, it should only make your team better.
 3.

I have done mostly USSSA back home but did a tourney 1 age division up earlier this month NATIONS director contacted me about it. I think that if directors are going to make such a move they should send out an email about it, not just take it up on themselves to make a class. I dont agree with some of the things that went down, but Im glad we didnt play this tournament. If my team decides to play USSSA I will most likely play at BIG LEAGUE DREAMS or LA. No hard feelings about the guy in charge of this one, but If I was in his shoes I would rescheduled just so people wont talk about " REMEMBER THE 1ST TOUNEY OUT HERE IT WAS ..........." But he did have a good turnout.
If im not mistaking all the 11's in Nations tournament a couple weeks ago had to play up with the 12U.. but for what ever reason you didn't pull out of that tournament... I'm sure Nations had their reasoning for MAKING all the 11's play with the 12's but know your on here criticizing our local USSSA guy for opening up the 11U bracket and saying your not gonna play USSSA local because of it ???....as Chris Carter would say "COME ON MAN"....
Talent wise, 11 Elite playing 12 select, is way different than 11 AA playing 11 Major.

 5. MJB, thanks for clearing up. After VP 93 said something about local director having teams in every age division, just wanted to make sure people weren't confused. I wonder how many other teams actually do this?  Seems like it would be easy to get away with, especially out of town tournaments.
 6.

MJB, I think you may be confused. Are you saying that our local Nations director, runs an organization called Nightmare Baseball? If so, you are way wrong.
He's not saying it's "Nightmare Baseball" I believe he's saying it's a Nightmare dealing with that organization!!
Im pretty sure he is referring to Nightmare Baseball that played in the 8u division 2 weekends ago. They forfeited two games on Saturday.

 8. @MJB, where did this happen at? Im referring to the illegal player on one of the directors teams.

I know it is early, but is there truly an elite world series for youth, outside of the organized leagues (Little League / Pony / etc.)?  I know all about the Nations / USSSA world series, and some of the open world series such as the one in Flower Mound.  Is there a youth world series that is thought more highly of, or is perhaps more well-respected out there?
There is nothing close to the Little League World Series.  Period.
Little league is good, at age 12. Other than that, you don't hear anything about it. Im not sure about age 13 Chester.
 11. What age group are you wondering about?
 12.
Odd that they checked bats at the gate, I never saw that either day and I know they did not check my teams bats.  In addition, there was a sign at the gate that said the 1.15 Rule would not be enforced.  I failed to take a picture of the sign. I questioned those involved with Nations and I got an interesting response.  For those that are in the know, can you specifically find where the BPF 1.15 marking on a bat is a Nations rule?  I k that someone posted a memo from John Carroll but evidently that is not a Nations rule, merely a Ford Park Rule. I am not sure why Ford Park or the Tournament directors would want to enforce this rule if it is in fact not a Nation's Rule. Please post up what you can find.
The first thing the umpired did Saturday morning (at least for our game) was checked bats. We had about 5 or 6 that we could not use. When I met with the umpires at home plate before every game, they told both coaches about the rule. Maybe you just weren't paying attention, or your not the manager if a team.
 13.
I'm not sure this is a valid rule.  At least it was not valid this weekend at the Valentines Classic.  They did not enforce the rule so any bat could be used.
They checked our bats first thing.
Why can't duplant play
Heard he wanted to concentrate on tennis more.
 15.
Lamoine looked good in his 1 inning with 4k's.  90+ on the FB on his 6'4" frame will get pro scouts attention. Brett Brown went 1.2 striking out all 5 batters.  His curve is one of the best I've seen.  Both aces look to be in midseason form.
He has the best curveball in the area. Hands Down
 16. Hammerhead, I failed a class when I was a sophomore,(being a stubborn kid) and made the team also. When I became eligible I got to start playing games. Whether or not a kid is passing or failing, will not determine if he makes the team at tryouts. The BEST kids will make the team. If they are failing, maybe it will be a wakeup call, like it was to me. I went on to play baseball 7 years after I graduated high school. If your kid is a freshman and got cut, he should use this experience to work harder at becoming a better ball player, Michael Jordan did.
 17.
I'm kinda up in the air in the select vs. league debate.  On one hand, if you don't get your kid in select you risk them getting passed up by others.  If you do and they get burned out then you wasted your money.  When I was little we had 12 league games then a few all-star games and that was it and we moved on to the next sport.  Now some of these teams are playing 80+ games a year at ages as young as 5 or 6 years old!  I was digging through pictures a while back and found my 9 yr old all-star picture.  Out of that team of 15 players only 3 of us ended up playing baseball in HS.  My point is that most of your kids will end up getting burned out before HS anyways, so always make sure they are having a fun with whatever they choose.  I also have a problem with young select pitchers throwing 200 innings a year in all of these tourneys. A growing kids arm is not made to go through that kind of strain, so make sure your select coach is about teaching and safety as opposed to how many trophies he can win in 8 yr old select.  LL has rules to protect the kids where I don't think select does as much.
I would have killed to play 80+ games a year when I was a kid.  I won't let any of players come any where close to 200, heck not even 100. But I was a pitcher for a litlle bit, so I am a little precautious when it comes to things like that. I won't even let my high school guys throw over 85 pitches in a game.
 18.
whoops. Sorry I didn't see. Thanks! Any commentary on Kelly's prospects this year....??
With Warner, Steinhagen, and the addition of Michael Hayes from Legacy, their staff should be pretty darn good. Hayes is very solid, and will probably jump into the number 2 spot.  Not sure how good they will hit though.
 19.
No disrespect intended to Colby but was just wondering if he was hurt last season.I saw him pitch last year 3 times agaist different clubs and he they really hit the ball well against him.Unusual to see someone get a D1 scholarship that doesn't throw smoke.Congrats the Colby on the signing.
What do you consider smoke? I have seen him hit 87(not consistently)  on the gun before, which is pretty dang good for a high school lefty. Colby has a good arm, and a great pitchers body. Let him hit some weights at Lamar, and he could very easily be throwing "smoke".
 20. Congrats Jacob. Will this be as a position player, or pitcher?
 21.
No, this is going to be a rec league.  Many of the games are going to be on tournament sundays, so we are going to make this league strictly for little league, pony leagues, etc to prepare for their league seasons that start in mid-march. If any select teams would like to play midweek games that count towards your Nation's points, just let me know and i'm sure we can set it up.  You would just need to pay for the field and umpires.
What's the point of playing in a rec league to get ready for the spring season, if you can't play on the team you will be playing on during the spring?

But then again there are some parents out there that act like fools and will ruin an awsome ball player.....
Really, what is with the talk of Lawyers and Legal Papers?
The lawyers are for the crybabies at USSSA. Crying that ford park wasn't gonna let them in, so daddy went and got a lawyer.
