😂😂😂😂😂 where was the superior coaching obvious at? In which facet of the game? I’m listening
Not certain why most of your posts go to discrediting coaching on every side…insisting it is all the players. I can assure you folks/fans on our side of the fence know the difference in good coaching with athletes and having athletes without coaching.
GREAT WIN PNG

Neither side was out coached…this game came down to a war of nutrition in the trenches coupled with a bad call at the end.
But hell of a game by PNG!
A war of nutrition ??? A new take.

Maybe not who knows... something needs to change #1. If coach H has one more year left on his contract and the district decides to go in another direction, maybe hiring that seasoned coach could be the answer. I think coach Cleveland would be a great fit for the Mustangs as a head OC. These young unproven coaches that are being hired have a lot to do with a failing program not just at WOS but in other programs as well. If WOS is serious about making a change then do it! Do it NOW!!!!
They need to make a change and it is HH. I don’t know that any assistant with upside wants the risk that this regime brings with it. Then in the event they do move on from HH, those coaches have risked a lot for one year and probably a season they don’t want to put on their resume.

Agreed, most DCs know "how" to stop it.
I know of a school that knew how to stop it……but recent HC/DC at the same school couldn’t stop a tear with a tissue.

I guess that they shut that triple option down! I hope this get the WOS coach out of there.
I wouldn’t bank on it. I’m sure he will be around for a while. The SPT isn’t concerned about the football program.

Coach Thompson must be cringing at the sight of this clueless defense.
I’m sure he had to quit watching last year. To even call this a “defense” is generous. However, this is what the program needed🙄

Not sure but if they want him gone it will happen regardless of contract..until then this is it
I don’t think he is going anywhere. The spt wanted something and got it. The SPT can justify the “success” by making the playoffs each year.
I wish it weren’t so…

There should 112% be a new coach next year at wos cause this ain't gonna cut it
Won’t happen. There is a new definition of “success” at the helm now.

Sorry, fun game if you’re not a fan of either team trying to find something to be mad about
But it’s still not good football. Might as well just watch a track meet

Fun game?? This is an abomination and not good football on either side.

One thing I've noticed about WOS players a lot them have their hands on there hips and bending over. When CT was there i don't remember none of that. Conditioning is showing
One thing I’ve noticed is that teams didn’t hang 50 points on WOS.
-
WOS was based on tradition, silver helmets pursuit etc…according to the new coach there is more to football than that.
I can only assume this is part of the new process.🙄

Is anyone really shocked??

It just would be better to explore playing other teams. For both schools. There is no good reasoning it is a must to put on the schedule. Doing the same thing year after year is obviously not helping either school
Well, for one it sure costs a lot less money to bus the kids 20 minutes down the road. I can’t speak for now but in the past many of the players now each other from church, family, community etc and they look forward to the game.
What is the reasoning for NOT playing the game? What is LCM going to gain from playing another opponent? Are you asking for a stronger or weaker opponent than LCM? There was a small window where this game was not played.

Hey lcm still has a decent shot at district champs... stallions. Do not.
By that logic you have a weaker district. So enjoy that consolation prize. The ultimate prize is still not in the grasp of either.

Well I think it’s safe to say that no one is afraid of either team stealing state titles at this point but the season is young.
Folks do get hyped up sometimes when there is a week one blowout. Happened to WOS last year. Beat Nederland by a landslide and shut them out. Many thought the program was still on track.
-
Why is everyone so bitter about “fighting for 3rd or 4th”…”good luck against silsbee etc”.
I always wish for the best for our local teams but I have to ask…what does this make you think about LCM?? They got drummed by a mediocre team according to this logic (and I don’t disagree).

Sometimes a trip behind the woodshed is a good wake up call.

I guess no one read the article or saw my post. Hickman basically said we have to do away with all of that old stuff and do new stuff to move “forward”. His definition of forward is a moonwalk thus far.
-
Anyone read the OrangeLeader article where the coach (paraphrasing) said “all they know is team pursuit, silver helmets, defense and traditions”.
Well, they are getting indoctrinated to a few more experiences now.
-
Right but to his point, these conversations happened back then whether you felt they might leave or not. Just WHEN it happened, unless WOS got lucky, decline was inevitable.
like you said, I don’t think anyone saw this level of dysfunction. I expected a step back and gradual decline if someone didn’t step up....but not a full backwards sprint.

And not just retirement. This was a staff that had been on a nice run since ‘85 and had opportunities outside of Orange Texas.

In 92? After getting put out early 3 years by CE King. And then the forfeits. I can't belive this was even part of the discussion. It's not like Hooks had one foot out the door and rolled up in the golf cart. CT would've kept going til he couldn't anymore too. But the only thing guaranteed, is change. And I'm all for it when it's actually needed. The wheels were nowhere near falling off. They loosened the lugs and who knows how long til someone finds a 4way.
Is there still a tire shop west orange? If not the only one is Wal Mart. Smh. I wouldn't trust them to check the pressure. One time they forgot my oil plug. 🤬 always check for yourself. Glad I did.
I don’t think that is what he was saying. And I will further read his mind and say it wasn’t exactly 30 years....just a rough number. There were folks back then that didn’t like how Hooks and CT ran things. Definitely not folks from surrounding communities who had a ton of theories and people could say whatever and you didn’t have Google handy to put them in check. Anyway, I digress....what was generally stated was this: “When Hooks and CT do ride off into the sunset, the program will likely go into decline”. Everyone that followed closely knew that WOS had talent but it was the coaching and program installed gave WOS something extra.
There had been rumors of Hooks retiring a little before the ‘92 season....so yeah, those conversations happened.
