Sad to see these once proud towns slowly drying up and fading away. Burkeville in the 80’s really had it going (football wise) and now seems to be teetering like HD…. But when industry leaves and there is nothing to replace it this is what happens…

I have confirmed thru my contact at The Vindicator that Hull-Daisetta has indeed canceled the rest of their season. Most folks do not realize that H-D actually has 1A enrollment and they play 1A in every sport but football. They chose to opt up to 2A DII so they can continue to play 11 man football. It's my understanding that H-D had very very low numbers to start the season and was just a few injuries and/or players quitting from being in jeopardy of not being able to finish the season. Looks like that is the case. I haven't received the exact reason but I'm pretty confident it's lack of numbers.

Called it.. although I thought the school would fold simultaneously. There's a lot of growth across the state.. but also a lot of dying areas.
