  1. Faith Family in the UIL state tournament is a joke. The head coach was the head coach at Cedar Hill and FF offered him 6 figures to come over and allowed him to bring his whole staff. Guess what...Cedar Hill players followed. This is why you havent heard from Cedar Hill lately. It is fitting that FF and Yates have to play each other and a sign of the sad sad state of UIL basketball. And that is before you get to Madison being in the 3A tournament which is an even bigger joke. HISD and DISD use their open enrollment status and “magnet programs” to manipulate their enrollments. FF has about 200 kids in the school.....but 10 of them just happen to be good enough to get to the 4A state tournament? Please. It is becoming a joke what all is allowed and a shame. It is ruining high school basketball.
  2. Atascocita never played NS this fall and Atascocita was the only team to beat Dawson in the Super 16 which Dawson won
  3. I know its just opinions and for talk but if anyone seriously believes Atascocita is below those 3 teams then wow! They beat Dallas Lincoln by 30 this fall
  4. It was likely BISD checking on it themselves in the midst of trying to clean up the messes in the district. UIL rules have clearly stated forever the interscholastic competition is not allowed in the 6th grade. There are ways to get it done within UIL rules. It would only require a little creative thinking.
  5. Ive seen people say he has had talent but not sure where Ive seen anyone say it was on talent alone.
  6. This is funny stuff.. Boutte is one of the all time greats! There is no debating that. Even Boutte will tell you he has been blessed with talent. Boutte just like plenty of other coaches has had teams that over achieve and a few that under achieved. Boutte would not win state in Lumberton or Nederland just like no one else has. However, there is no guarantee that English or any other coaches in this area would win state at Ozen or Lincoln (back in the day). Is Boutte solely responsible for Perkins development?. No.. Did he play a role in it?. Absolutely.. If Boutte gets credit for Perkins success then he gets credit for his short comings too right?. Thats why all this is comical.. Coaches play a role in all players both good and bad.. To win a state championship takes as much luck as anything.. The ball will have to bounce your way at some point along the way to winning one.. A coach's greatness cannot be defined by state rings alone especially at the high school level.. Plenty of great coaches who havent won and plenty who have.. It is just as hard to coach a team loaded with talent as it is to coach a team with very little talent.. Each has a different set of battles but both are equally difficult.
  7. If the family doesnt move into the district he will not be eligible.
  8. Why do you come on this board and ask questions?. All you do is turn around and tell everyone that you already know it all so why ask?. Ive never seen someone who just looks like theyre starving to argue so they can try and convince people how much they know.. If you know so much quit asking and arguing.. Youre gonna bark up the wrong tree one day and get outted on this board with some real truth.
  9. Is West Brook doing spring practice?
  10. There will probably be some growing pains early but they will be there when it counts.
  11. I was in Silsbee this weekend watching my daughters little dribblers team play and saw C's dad around quite a bit.. I actually saw he and coach Sigler go into his office and shut the door for about 5 minutes. No idea what was said if anything just what I saw.
  12. key words being "up to 60 hours" not knocking the program anything to help kids move beyond a high school diploma is a good thing also what makes it the first is the partnership with LIT there are plenty of school where college hours can be obtained that transfer to any college unless you plan on getting a degree from LIT then there is no guarantee all those hours will transfer to the school the graduate may want to attend
  13. Actually, Silsbee just got approved for a program that will allow a student to graduate with 60 hrs of college for free. There are many schools in SE Texas where students can earn college credits prior to graduation. Now if your claim is accurate you are saying that a kid can earn TWO years worth of college credits in high school? (60 hours at 15 hours per semester) Every kid has to complete 16 core courses at a minimum in high school and then they can use their elective slots for on line college hours but elective slots become somewhat limited when you have an athletic period or a band period that a child wants to be in to participate. Simple math on a 7 period day says 4 classes for four years are dedicated to core courses leaving 3 periods per day for electives.. Of those 3 periods, assume one is used for extra curricular. The very best case scenario is that 2 periods a day are left for college courses (and that is if the district doesnt have locally required electives like Health and Communications). So realistically a kid might earn 24 college hours at the very maximum and that is if they started their 9th grade year (not a lot of 9th graders ready to handle college coursework). Regardless, lots of high schools in this area have that opportunity available.
