Liberty's Deel Resigns under pressure

Recommended Posts

I'll telll you what, with the right coach a town can do wonders. Bout 20 somthing years ago I went hunting with my older brother to a town called Goldthwait. I was blown away at the support the town was giving the football team. Everywhere in town there were signs and shoe polish on glass supporting their team. It was only after that I wanted to know how this team was doing every year. Come to find out, this is a dominate team every year. Liberty not only needs a good coach but someone that will win over the town as well. Make the smart choice and change the mentality of the town. That's where it starts. This is Texas High School Football, baby. And the coach is the Mayor.
Best post I have seen in a while. Hull-Daisetta went and did just that, hiring Josh Finney has super charged the total community culture.

I feel like Chad Taylor is an obvious finalist, if he wants the job.  He would be great.  He is from Liberty, and wasn't he a finalist when Deel got hired? He already showed last year the he is interested in coming back to the area.  Liberty make a lot of sense for him.  The Dayton OC makes sense too.  I"m sure Toby Foreman will apply, as well as Larry Haynes.  All those names make me think that Joe Slack has no chance here.  No swipe at him, he just doesn't have the experience of any of these guys.
Politics are never fair or make sense.  ;) Slack is very well thought of in Liberty. Slack gets the job. Just saying.  ;)

You failed to realize that Dr. Abshire doesn't care for Slack. Cody and Finney hit it off and it led to the Devers and HD football agreement (which the new Devers super tanked). I say Finney applies, gets the job, Slack goes back to HD, and most unfortunate for everyone, we get to listen to "Coach Chad" on this forum crying about all the glory HD football could have had... The ONLY Slack coaching at Liberty will be Karen.

In all seriousness, its probably Taylor's job if he wants it.

Sorry for the lack of posts. My nephew plays for Liberty and I just joined for game updates. That being said, last spring Abshire and Finney put together a deal where HD agreed to bus Devers JH kids to Dasietta after school for fb practice and games. After the deal was agreed to by the respective school boards, Finney came over and talked to the Devers kids. After Abshire left for Liberty, Devers's new super killed the agreement. For what it's worth, I think it's great that you love your team so much, but please don't hijack threads with the analysis of HD's offensive because I'd venture to say most people who clicked on this topic could give a R'sA about it (although I agree, you fit the system to the talent and not the talent to the system).
Good info. Do you think this will hurt HD? Devers kids have always had the choice of HD or Liberty. Devers numbers are always real low. Finney does a good job of cornering the market. Walking driveways and hallways.

That's extremely interesting, if it's true.  No one has ever thougth of making a JH football deal with Devers to corner the market on any athletes that could be poached from that part of the area.  This is why Finney is so great.  It's also why we are so lucky to have him.

Well, it will be real difficult for Coach Slack to get the Liberty job, seeing as he did not apply for it.

I'd love to see the list of applicants.  Someone from the media has to request it, they don't offer that up.  Hopefully someone will do that soon.  You have to think that Toby Foreman and the OC from Dayton are at the top of the list.  Having said that, my gut tells me that Larry Haynes will be in the mix.  Most from Liberty aren't familiar with Foreman or Claus (??), but they are very familiar with Haynes.  That seems to steer the ship at LISD.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
