Winning Streaks

Recommended Posts

Just curious how Neserland's 29 game District winning streak stacks up amongst other streaks in our area?

Dickie V, I know Ozen had a long streak that U mentioned a few times, how long was it?
Has Silsbee, HJ, or Kountze had long District winning streaks in the past 15-20 years? I'm sure Kountze has a few long streaks. Anyone have some numbers?

Until Silsbee lost last Tuesday night against HJ, they were currently on a 19 game district win streak.

In the mid to late 90's, Silsbee had a district win streak of 33 games.

Since dropping to 3A ('05) Silsbee's district record is 78-7 thru last night's win over WOS.

The only teams to beat Silsbee in district since them dropping to 3A are Hardin-Jefferson (5), WOS (1), and Coldspring (1).

Also, back in the 70's, Silsbee had a streak of 27 consecutive district wins.

Ozen had several streaks..from 2000-2002 we had a 51 overall game winning streak snapped by then #5 nationally ranked Memphis Ridgeway in the championship game of the Razorback Classic in Arkansas...Perk sat out that game because of a shoulder injury, and they beat us 54-52 in OT. The two district streaks we had were from 1999-2004 which was 63 district games, snapped by Vidor, then the second was from 2004-2010, snapped by Nederland which lasted for 72 district contests in a row.

Guest speechless
Kountze had one that stretched the Sutherland through Joubert years and was snapped just last year I believe?

On the girl's side HJ has, I think, a 40 game district win streak going...

PA Lincoln went undefeated in district play from 1985-2002... ::)    ::).......You think they were jumping up and down after 29 district wins on a row?  ::)

DV, you sure about that 1985-2002 district streak by PA Lincoln? I am pretty confident that Silsbee had a few wins against Lincoln in district during that span.

Who gives a crap if they were jumping up and down? You can't even get it right anyway. I assume you are jumping up and down from this one victory.

Like I said, I compare to our past records. Who gives a crap about 30 year old games? I am constantly reminded of not living in the past.

Well, your fellow Bulldog fan did start this thread asking for comparisons, so therefore the comparisons. ::)

Silsbee and Lincoln were not in the same district....They were in the district with Nederland, LCM, Bridge City, WOS, and PNG.

Incorrect. There were a few years in that span that those two were in the same district. '85 thru '91 they were in the same district. Also a couple of times in the 90's.

I know it is a little North, but is still East Texas, but at Troup my senior year we finished a 10-11 year district winning streak, right at 148 straight district games I believe without a loss.  The next year Troup was down a little and lost the streak.  That was 88-98 or 87-98.
They also at that time (I bet it is broken now) but they had the National HS most 3 pointers in a game certification, plaque and all, it was pretty cool.  I believe it was 23 (3's).

Silsbee and Lincoln PLAYED each other annually in the 90's but were not in the same district then during those years...Pre 1990, I am not sure if Silsbee was in that district or not, but I remember Coach Gamble teasing Boutte about having a "close" district game during his first season...He said they had not lost in district since 84. I will get either of them on the horn a find out for certain....give me a minute.

I was just curious about other school's win streaks. However, Dickie V has a need to make himself stand out bc of his insecurities. He directs every thread in a direction to make everyone look in the past at what he helped accomplish to make him feel better about himself. He doesn't want to talk about success unless it involves him.  :-\

Correction...they lost one in 99, and from what I was told, that was when Coach Gamble came back for that year, and he punished half of the team for being late to a Saturday practice, and did not play them that night....They had a legit excuse, but they sat anyway...Silsbee WAS in the district with them until 1990, but they never beat them in district play.

Silsbee and Lincoln were in the same district from '83 to '87, then '90-'91. In '91 Silsbee was district champions, Lincoln was runner up. Silsbee won both games.

You are correct in the fact that the two teams were not in the same district from 1992 to 2003.

That's pretty cool. I remember a few of those Troup Tiger teams. Fun to watch!

NB-Dawg, come on man....don't get upset ...insecurities? I have none....I was simply answering your question...Is it that you thought the Nederland streak was special? Sorry to burst your bubble, but its been done before...29 district wins is commendable...but you people were acting like it was earth shattering, and it was not...its over now, so hopefully your team can refocus, and take care of business in the coming weeks....insecure? Are you kidding me?....  ::)

    • Heading into the summer and before two a days get going… what are some concerns or positives about your team heading into next season? I’d like to hear from some H-F people because according to some they are the district favorites heading into the season. I’m just trying to pass some time at least until we get our DCTF magazines lol For Bellville my concern is filling some holes on defense… specifically at LB,S, and DT… bright spots ? Basically the entire offensive line returns that paved the way for 3 RBs to rush for more than 1600 yards a  on the season (2 of those RBs will return as well). With all that said Bellville should still be a region favorite this upcoming season.
    • That’s not a choice, it’s the same thing and equally dangerous.    I’ve literally heard (with my own listening ears) the R County Chairman boast in a speech that “the only time I’ve ever voted for a Democrat was when I voted for Hillary in the Democrat primary! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!” You’ll never guess who is tweeting all over the place about how we need closed primaries this week.  Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.  Escalation of force.  These are concepts that you completely understand and teach.  Whatever we do today, we’ll pay for tomorrow. Impeach a President over something stupid? They’ll impeach yours twice.  Promise to lock up your political rival if you get elected? You can’t cry over somebody else doing it to you… even if you were just blowing a little smoke for the morons.   The old days of “don’t throw rocks if you live in glass houses” has now become “I’m pretty sure I’ve got more rocks than they do.” The frightening thing is that Ds only do it to Rs. Rs do it to Ds and other Rs alike without hesitation.
    • Definitely does NOT sound like a fit for PN-G.
    • No offense, but both sides do it.  The Rs in Texas want to do away with decades of precedent and demand that Dems are no longer given chair positions on any committees in the Tx House. It sounds reasonable enough, until you arrive at a point when the Ds enjoy a single seat majority in the house, select the most leftist speaker of all times, and the refuse to give Rs any say in the legislative process by refusing to give them any committee chairs.     Experience has shown me that any time a party seeks to consolidate power in a legislative body, it backfires.    What I don’t like is a world where we cheer for Manchin for doing his own thing, but also re-elect guys like Paxton and Patrick when they make threats to R Legislators if they don’t do exactly what the Radical Right demands. Our Rep here in Hardin County lost his spot for voting against private school vouchers-his wife is a teacher. He also voted his conscience on the Paxton impeachment.  It cost him his seat…. Not because of the will of the voters in his district, but because if millions of outside dollars pumped into the race from outside the district and even an endorsement of his unknown challenger by Donald Trump himself.    Why do people like you applaud Manchin for being his own man and then vote against Phelan for doing the same thing?
