Well, for the most part, it is true.  The fan-bases around here are fairly solid.  I've been to many games when we were still in 22-5A that were standing room only and we just were not good in any stretch of the imagination back then.

I know the kids really appreciate it and there's nothing better than high school football around the holidays.  Nice little buzz around the town and it does wonders for the younger generation coming up through the athletic program.  The kids see the older kids having success and it really pushes them to do better.

I tell you what, all you Vidor Mights don't be a stranger when this thing is over. I won't be starting any crow eating threads, none of the nonsense, that tends to be the norm after someone talks a big game, and things don't work out as expected. I just want you around to say, "Guess Montgomery isn't all hype."

And that goes both ways....I'm here all the time, win or lose.....

Sitting here watching the PNG films vs Vidor, not seeing all this defense being hyped upon, will watch the Nederland film next, maybe it has a better perspective. We only asked for the PNG, Nederland, and Livingston films, so we will have to judge off of that.

I haven't seen any absurd smack talk as of yet. Certainly, we are hopeful, believe in our Pirates, and know they will play like they always do....with everything they have. This is high school football and sometimes the unexpected happens....we've surprised quite a few.

You are correct 4700+ yds total offense and just about split down the middle.... i think its 2600+ rushing... and 2100+ passing.... probably the most balanced team we have seen yet....

                I have read the post on this thread and have not seen where anyone is thinking that the Bears will be nothing but a handful for Vidor.Montgomery is definatly the favorite IMO. I think you may be a little offended that Vidor posters are picking their team to win?
As you know thats what any true fan is gonna do.I hope for a very competive game with my Pirates coming out on top of course.And yes I will be here win or lose to congratulate the winning team.

I saw Montgomery play Brenham, they gave Brenham all they could handle until last few minutes in the game. They have a nice small team, but Vidor's running game will be to much for them to handle. They do have a very good passing game that vidor will have to deal with but Vidor will keep them off the field. I have to go with Vidor, again I say,20-4a is a tough district. Go get them Vidor, I'll be there pulling for you.

[/quote]That's true not saying 17-4a doesn't, Brenham, Montgomery and Magnolia West, I have seen and they are all very good teams. IMO, they are almost as good as 20-4A from 1st to 4th place teams in the playoff in this area. It will be a great game between every team in these 2 districts.

      That was an awesome video!  I feel so proud of these young men.  They proved the doubters wrong.  Bellville should be proud, too.  I know it didn't end like they had hoped, but we've been there, so we can definitely empathize with them.  Great season, Brahmas!

      Meh.. Everyone knows this. The kid that got injured wasn't lifting weights. Supposedly he was hit with a helmet in his elbow. In my opinion the kid shouldn't have been put in that situation. AD should've told the Varsity baseball players to sit that one out. I have no issues with the lifting or conditioning. However, anytime helmets/pads are on there is a higher risk of injury. This AD showed a total lack of respect for HIS baseball program.

      Maybe.. however..  Many athletic director / head football coach have lost their job despite the athletic program as a whole being successful.. if the football team struggles.  On the other hand, when football teams are doing great but the rest of the program stinks.. AD/HFC still keeps their job. WOS.  Newton. .. programs as a whole were fairly weak during those many years of football power and very few people even knew it.  Or cared. Yet, AD/HFC kept their jobs for years. Meanwhile, I remember an AD/HFC at Barbers Hill lost his job after every program in the school won district championships and even had several team sports (baseball, softball, girls hoops, etc.) making runs at state.  But the football team was mediocre.  Fired. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that perception is reality.  And the perception is that your athletic program can suck as long as football wins.. it doesn't matter how strong the athletic program is if football sucks.
