1. Halea Sherman-Vidor Super Gold Team and All-State Team first alternate.
 2. Ozen has a great team with some prime athletes. If Vidor had given it there all, the game would have been a lot closer. Do I think they could have won?  No one knows that answer because any team can be beaten on any given night. The ref's.  we're very one-sided...the only one calling a fair game was the taller man. The other man, I think his head was in the clouds.  Can't complain too much on the woman, she never really did a lot for either team.  Game film can back up everything, if anyone would like a copy... In the end the only team that the ref's affected was Ozen. You do no team justice by not calling the obvious.  You only affect them come playoff time because the ref's are a lot tougher...
 3.

Congratulations Lady Pirates. It would be bad to for y'all to have letdown against PNG Friday Night. Hope the win does not get to your head because next time you gotta play them there. Vidor is a good team, but there main issue is playing smart and unless the coach can fix that y'all will not go far in the playoffs. How can a team play so well but then have 2-3 minutes a game where it is just turnover after turnover, yet think they should be ranked? A great team will make little mistakes and turnovers but never so many in such a short amount of time. As for us, if we win our next two games expect us to go all out against y'all's only three players cause we will be right in the heart of the playoff race.
LadyRaider03...WTHeck is wrong with you???  Do you have anything positive to say???  If not move on and stop dogging on VIDOR!!!  BTW...don't bother showing up at our games.  We don't need your negative self there, unless you are a disguised Pirate Fan, then man up and start being positive!!!
 4.
First off Chocky in case you do not know the district standings, Ozen, Central, and Vidor have seperated and will finish in the top three. LCM, Livingston, us, and Nederland, are all fighting for the fourth playoff sport. While their still is 9 games to go the indication is 1 spot for teams. As for you HFfan, players play like their coaches act and vidor's coach is a maniac. He yells, whines, and any game now we will go off the wall. The players see this and act this way to. Maybe that is why #4 plays so wild. I can only assume their practice involves three point drills and yelling. As for the reason why I think the next time will be closer because yall beat us so bad that you will think ahead to Central on Friday. We however, will be fighting for that last playoff spot and be hungrier. We also have the coach who is better at adapting. Our girls will know everything that Vidor did to us and use that beat the press and force turnovers. Just face it your coach does nothing. He just stands there and yells. I also watched some highlights of Central this year and am 100% sure that there is no way Vidor can win or even stay within 10. Central matches up better than Ozen, and after our game, Vidor is just going to go into the game stuckup. #3 will go back to having her regular 4-20 from the three point line and for that Central can focus on #14. Central is fast enough to ruin the press with #4 most likely having less than 2 steals and get into foul trouble earlier. #23 is still a freshman and will make freshman mistakes. She does not do anything but foul and like her sister miss threes. The rest of the team does not come close to matching central's bench with their bench maybe being better than Vidor's starters. As if not obvious enough the coaching is just polar opposite in favor of Central. Central by 10. I'll be there in my baby blue rooting for those jaguars.
I think it's time for you to move on to YOUR next game and stop worrying about how WE play ball and how OUR COACH teaches HIS TEAM to play!!!  Maybe if you were as focused on your team, your girls would be winning more games...
 5. I have to say this to the Lady Pirates that read this... You are a great team and a great group of young ladies.  You don't need anyone telling you otherwise.  Rankings mean absolutely nothing.  You could be #1 in the state, but if you don't have character, heart, and determination it means nothing.  You may never see a ranking in your high school days, but you will ALWAYS be able to take with you what Coach Jacks has taught and that is working together as a FAMILY and CHARACTER, HEART, AND DETERMINATION!!!
 6.
With the holidays over, thought it was time to start talking about this game Friday night. Lumberton, a onetime ranked team, against Vidor, the streakiest team in Texas. This week of practice will benefit Lumberton and allow them to figure out their late struggles and get back to playing how they did the first month of the season. I have seen Vidor play a few times and after watching them, my Lady Raiders have the better dribblers and will turn Vidor's press into fast breaks. As for #14 and #3 for Vidor, the defense will be ready to handle them and will hold them to under 20 each. I do not understand how they are considered great players when all they do are shoot threes and drive and miss 3/4 of the time. This is also their first road test and do not think the freshman Jacks will be able to handle the crowd noise. All in all, my Lady Raiders should be ready for this game and not overlook it like some Beaumont team against Vidor and win by 15.

Well besides Richmond, who does Vidor have? #3 only shoots if she thirty feet away, I think #20 something is a freshman and this is her first away game versus a good team. Then #4 plays like she is out on the playground she just takes playing out of control to a whole new level. Seriously who does Vidor even have and the defense outside of the press is horrible. The coach needs to take less time in practice on threes and spend at least five minutes on defense without fouling. The Lady Raiders have no reason to lose to team of this caliber. Our girls should be able to jump all their passes and easily break the press.
. I don't know what game(s) you have been watching, but if you had been paying attention and knew anything about basketball you would see that #3 is designed as an outside shooter-ONLY!!!  #4 is not a child on a playground, she plays good old-fashioned street ball with a twist of Coach Jacks.  Don't get on here bashing our team.  They are a family and they are very proud of what they have accomplished and what they will accomplish this season.  Until you learn what family is, then you have no idea what these girls can accomplish.  Sometimes all it takes to win a game is heart...RANKINGS mean nothing!
 7.
Maybe he should think twice about how he treats the girls. Would he treat his own daughter the same way? Oh that's right...
I don't know where you are from, and I sure hope you aren't from Vidor, but as a parent of one of these girls I think Coach Jacks is a wonderful man, coach, and to some of these girls a father figure!  I wouldn't want anyone else coaching them.  Sometimes those on the outside do not see the entire picture and don't know the entire situation and choose to post things through this forum that hurt individuals and team members.  I know what you saw, I was there; but, that doesn't give you the right to tear down someone.  Kids are on here and when you tear down their coach, you tear down their spirit.  These girls love Coach Jacks and they love his style of coaching!
 8. Hey i'm proud of our boys. Third round of the playoffs and they left it all on the field. In my book you can't get any better than that. Angleton may have won that game but Vidor didn't lose. That's for sure.  Could't have said it any better "mytwocents"...It was hard leaving the game that night, I just wanted it to continue.  They may have lost, but they lost with HEART.  Coach Matthews has done so much with all the sports, and has even taught the community some things as well.  Cannot wait for the season to begin!!! Ready to see what my nephew, Stevenson, will do.
 9. Yes Sir...that song is bad and most folk around here don't like it!  Should have heard the unedited version.  Not classy at all!
 10.
I said STARTED on Varsity for one.  I was a two year Letterman and enjoyed my position.  When every senior player showed up the Monday following our final Friday night loss, we were all told to move our s*it out of the locker room we had worked so hard to get to.  Keep in mind "Coach Wade", that 2001 team was a playoff team (and Mathews' first at Vidor) so don't act like you know the real Jeff Mathews because we were thrown to the slums and disregarded not even 72 hours after our final game.  Out with the old, in with the new.

I'm not going to get in to details, but all I will say is I played under Mathews at Vidor for four years (started on varsity for one) and I have NO respect for that man.  Once your tenure is over playing under him, you're considered as nothing of use to him.  He made me (as well as at least a dozen players in my class) feel as if four years of our extracurricular lives were wasted.  We truly felt like all the hard work and effort we gave was for nothing.  That is the God honest truth.
I can't believe you still have issues with this great man we call Coach Mathews!  How old are you...old enough to know better than to post something like this on here?!!!  If you have that much of a problem with him...he has an open door policy and would be more than willing to work this out with you.
 11.
We were discussing the game last night on the way home and were talking about how many of our players are playing with injuries and illnesses.  I still swear that prayers are a major factor for our football team. (Especially after last nights game.) It saddened me to see in another thread last week that someone scoffed when God was mentioned as a key factor in Coldspring's games.  One of our team mottos is "We Believe".  Big news... It's not just our boys that we believe in.
And as long as you continue believing that God is first, things will be ok...Prayers from Pirate Land.  God bless and God speed.  The community of Vidor is very big on God, especially after all this community has been through.  We are  "Tragedy to Triumph" and it's all because of GOD!
 12.
*Mod edit**
...And you must be first in line...
 13. HOW 'BOUT DEM PIRATES!!!  WOOT-WOOT!!!  If I knew all the words to the Lapray Gang song...I would definately be right there singing with them.  WHOA OH OH OH OHHHHHHHHHH...WHOA OH OH OH OHHHHHHHHH!!!  GO PIRATES...SAIL ON!!!
 14.

I was in attendance at this game last night and didn't have time to post my observations. Big congrads on Vidor for their first playoff win in ages.  Crosby is a good team with those twins and #11.  They al have some get up and go and the acrobatic leaping catch when showed on the jumbotron screen were awesome.  This team athleticwis should have put up a better game than this.  But I've heard that the twins are sophmores (somebody correct me if I'm wrong).  They'll be back strong again next year and I feel sorry for who draws them next year. Nice looking team. (ps...  One of the twins got frustrated at the end of the game and threw his helmet down.  Hang in there, kid.  Yall will be in it next year in the same position) Vidor?  What can I say about them.  They played GREAT playoff football.  I'll start with offense. The thing that stuck out to me was that all the running plays, they were not ONCE called for holding.  That's excellent football.  Major props to Matthews and company.  Vidor's offense was not stopped except for the initial drive and that was on a faulse start penalty.  Other than that, the Pirate offense were not denied.  # 23 for Vidor was a man tonight.  This kid, without doupt will win MVP of the year.  He runs with a purpose and with heart.  Clark (who me and the neigboring fans referred to as 'Big Boy') made me proud.  That's the way a 'big Nasty is supposed to play.  Play of the day?  The Vidor RB (i forgot on what play) hit the sideline and trucked a Crosby tackler and they showed it on the big screen.  We went nuts. Vidor's defense is what was most impressive.  They didn't back down nor was intimidated by the twin's speed (and boy, those twins can flat out fly). They made good tackles (for the most part as the twins broke free on some long plays) and took excellent angles to make the tackle on much faster and quicker players.  This is the aspect of the game that made me pick Vidor in this game.  #23 was a tackling machine as usual.  Very deceptive speed as most of the starting Vidor defense.  They withstood Crosby surges and played bend don't break football, until late in the 4th.  Then they went and got that QB!  It was a pleasure and worth my admission last night to see these pirates again. (This is the 3rd Vidor game this year for me).  Makes me proud to be a fan that's part of the most pationate district in the state of texas.  Sail on, Pirates.  Sail on!
I think you are referring to #3 when he ran over #14 on the sidelines.... took him off his feet.... that was Bryce Cooper after the interception.... he tip toed down the side line then lowered the shoulder and gave #14 a lesson on how to land after being bull dozed by a 150 lb DB....
They were all "BEASTS" last night.  Played hard-nose football...from a tragedy to a triumph!!!  It has been a hard season for them , but they manned-up and decided they weren't going to allow Matt's death to ruin Matt's dream to go all the way!  Way to go boys, coaches, and fans.  We are on our way!  As far as "The Twins"...awesome players. Just need a little different coaching to sail them into victory next season.  They were slippery snakes.  #11...just a frustrated kid with no respect, other than that a great athlete!
