Sgt Rey is the same poster that was bashing the Beaumont Bulldogs youth football program(which uses Kelly facilities) in a thread that got pulled.

Any leading candidate for the Baseball position?
I bet the T-ball coach of the West End Little League has a great shot at this one if Kelly goes in line with the recent hire
A little bit of a exaggeration.
depends who he is... :o

Surprised me too but was more surprised by the fact that a coach was promoted from middle school straight to the HC/AD job.  It is a little different managing a junior high team than it is to coach a HS varsity team.  He may have coached these players in JH but players change over time.  It's not a matter of plug and play based on previous knowledge, especially if that knowledge (of players) is outdated.  This is one advantage a coach already on the varsity staff has over a JH coach.  Watching them from the stands on Friday nights is not the same as actually coaching them every day in practice.

This is not a knock against Hartsfield as I simply don't know the man or how he operates.  The above scenario is how I would look at things from a board member perspective.  It may be that Hartsfield really knocked their socks off in the interview, considering that Haynes and Foreman interviewed as well.

Clint will do an outstanding job at Kelly.

I can testify for him because he hired me a few years ago to coach with him at St.Annes and I know personally how great of a coach he is. He is a hard worker, great with x's and o's, scouts and watches film as good as anyone, and more importantly, he is great with the kids.

If I were still in the Beaumont area, I would ask him for a job. I would go back to the private schools to coach with him again.

I have had the opportunity to work with some great coaches in my career, and he is one of the best I have ever worked for or with.

I'm very happy for you Clint. I know you will do well.

Take care and good luck buddy,

Cody M. Plake

Wow.  Maybe a couple of advanced English courses would be in order.

I would like to say congrats to the coach they hired. I'm glad they showed loyalty to a guy that has been there 12 years. To all you haters I would like to say remember " I'm sure they asked the other older coaches and maybe even Long what they thought about him." If anyone on the inside had a real complaint on this guy the situation may be different. Yes it is weird that he is a MS coach, but the people that know him best are the ones that hired him. Best of luck to the Kelly Dogs

Why do you all feel the need to rub this guy into the dirt?

1.  He is the head coach, not the only coach.  He is surrounded by guys who have the experience.  Those of you requiring your coach to have varsity experience, why?  He is not suiting up.  His assistant coaches and coordinators call their part of the game.  Head coach manages key decisions during the game.  Will he make mistakes? Absolutley.  But I have seen some of the most experienced coaches, in all sports, make rookie mistakes.

2.  Athletic Director at Kelly is not brain surgery.  With 400 students at Kelly, Hartsfield came from a school of similar size.  The number of sports at Kelly is not so overwhelming that Hartsfield cannot manage it.  Furthermore, its not like Kelly has been a perrenial powerhouse in athletics.  They have not gone far into the playoffs in recent years in football, baseball, or basketball.  Soccer is their most successful sport over the past 3-4 years. Coach Arrondale is still there.  Hartsfield has a trememendous opportunity to make his mark on the program immediately.

3.  He has 12 years of experience in the private/Catholic school culture and system.  He knows how to navigate around the Diocese of Beaumont school system and whom to reach out to , in order to get what he wants.  Not only does he know all the players on the field, he knows all the players who run the school.  Big plus, for those of you who have never participated in a Catholic school setting within the Diocese of Beaumont.

4. He has hit the ground running.  He is in the process of hiring a new baseball coach and adding to his football staff.

Is the right guy for the job?  Only time will tell.  But give the guy a break.  He is getting pounded on this board and he has yet to have a practice.  For the sake of his family, the parents and the football players he serves, please cut him a little slack.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
