You better look real close at who they hire.  You don't want to waste another year.  Before you know it, they will be a junior and sophomore and got nothing out of it.  I still predict they are wearing hawk uniforms in the future and playing in the drum at the state tournament.

The smart thing for Blue's kids may be to move to HJ, Silsbee, or Kountze, but there has been so much talk on here it would be hard to move now without the UIL stepping in, even though it happens all the time in Texas, especially the larger cities.  Either way I wish the best for his boys, dont know them, but I like Bluedove, and wish them the best.  Or you never know, they may find someone at HF that can run the basketball program the way he wants and they will have success right at home.  But if they cant run the program the way its needed to win, it is like it has been stated on here, you could hire Bobby Knight, Don Meyer, it wouldnt matter.  You cant win if you dont have time to teach and they dont have time to learn.

If they're smart they would go after Clay Davis or Ben West ;)
I'm curious. I don't know Ben West or most of the names being mentioned on the site. But, what would Ben West bring to Hamshire Fannett basketball?

Dear Coaches: The HF job may be better than some realize. You would be taking over a program without a winning season for several years. Make the playoffs for several years and you will be considered a basketball guru. You would be writing your own ticket for your future ;)

Dear Coaches, You could be getting an even better deal.  If you don't run the program the way that the parents see fit it could lead to you having extra time on your hands for your skills to improve on coaching football and track.   ;D
Too bad you feel this way. I think most of the HF parents expressed what was happening during the season. To my knowledge, no one went to the school board complaining about releasing the former coach. I personally heard the griping from last season and I didn't want to think it was the coach's fault. I was against the parents at first.
I'm old school and I was raised to believe in the coaches. It just got to a point where I could not believe what I was seeing from that team. It was horrible. And obviously the administration felt a change was needed. The decision wasn't made overnight. We should have beaten Orangefield like a drum  :P

Bluedove,

Might want to check your pay scale.  The possibility of taking a pay  cut to come to HF based on hiring schedules is high.  I did a quick search of online documents and found that the schools that border HF all had higher salaries. To be fair, that does not include coaching stipends. I also did not look north of Beaumont.  For someone who wants a head job bad enough, money may not be an issue.

Food for thought.......

Wildcatter stated "You are forgetting that a football ad is the guy who is going to be doing the hiring.  We had an opportunity to hire a really good basketball assistant last year, everything checked out on him etc.  Then, at the last moment, a good football assistant opened up and we instead had a new assistant bb coach who had never even played the game. I just think that a true bb coach is going to have trouble here due to the fact that the fb coach is not really interested in building a solid program, he wants to build "athletes" which means better football.  JMO"

Who would this "good assistant" be???  The assistant that was hired was a head basketball coach and is the only one on the staff with ANY playoff experience.  Who should HF have hired?

Does anyone know the list of applicants yet?  AAW has said a few clues as to who has applied but no concrete list.

I have been privy of some of the names on the list (which is still growing, no deadline set yet) but until HF makes it public, then I will not mention any names.

    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
    • See why I don't trust my Hogs?
    • Come on dude, don’t take anything away from the kids on the field. If you want to talk uncharacteristic, we made what 3 or 4 errors in game one. Y’all had 2 EARNED runs.  Defense is normally our strong suit. Your ace didn’t strike out a single one of our kids. Like I said also, you did not out hit us in game 1. Hell you barley out hit us in game 2. We had all the uncharacteristic walks. Josh pitched a hell of a game is what made that game what it was.
