**HJ vs. Lubbock Estacado...HJ FALLS SHORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!**

I am not sure, but I think that is correct. I know he played when HJ was 4A and was in our district. He ran for over 300 yards against them in one game.

That was about par for the course for running backs against us for those 2 miserable years.  We were the smallest 4A in the state :'(

Yes, that was some pretty rough times for you guys. Kind of like our last two years as a 4A.

It is kind of odd because if you remember Jasper had two guards that could absolutely go during those two years.  Beatty and Armstrong.    They remind me of Spikes and Bailey (except Beatty and Armstrong had size also).  They came over to our place for a district game and beat us 86-83.  Beatty had 40 and Armstrong had 41.  They scored 81 of their team's 86 points.  Still one of the best performances I have ever seen.  We ran every defense imaginable that night and it just didn't matter.

If we are talking about State Championships alone, then do I need to add all of the Golf State Championships to the Hawk total?????  I need to say nothing more after this!!!!!!! :D :D :D

I am sure there is someone who will tell you that the region was a weak golfing region and since it was 3-a it didnt matter.

I remember that Nos. They were very good basketball players to be football players. I would tell you what Silsbee did to Jasper in basketball those two years, but it might come back and haunt me. ;) ;D

The kid from Livingston had a FIFTY TWO INCH VERTICAL :o :o :o and he posterized 3 guys on our team with one dunk that year at their place.....

It sure was fun taking our 6'0", 6'1", 6'2" front line to face their 6'5", 6'9", 6'10" front line.

Yeah I remember they had the Big Black kid that could fly and the two Big White kids that played the wing.  He dunked on me and I was in the stands watching.  I have seen Trey dunk several times but Spinks will back me up this kid could flat out fly.  Did you see that kid from Yates #23,  who would you give the edge to.

He could fly......in fact he was 6'9 or so and had the athletic ability of Ivan Williams...this guy could dunk like no one i have ever seen in high school....I do not think I got posterized by him that year..........only Ivan Williams from Cleveland!!!!!

To clarify, I don't think they have national high school powerlifting team rankings, but, Mark Henry was the national powerlifting champion his senior year at Silsbee.

So that means that Silsbee could be one of the only school in SETX who has ever had a #1 national ranking in a athletic sport.......

Does setting a national record in the 400m relay count for anything (even if not from Silsbee)?  Jasper was the first high school team to run under 40 seconds  at 39.9 hand-held and was the record holder from 1991 to 1997 when a Dallas team ran faster.  So they were not just the best that year.  They were the best ever from inception of high school track until 1997.

Silsbee also had a guy who ran track that set a national record but I forgot what event it was and his name but AAW should know...........I think he also ran in the Olympics.........

Was it Tony Allen?

Tony Allen was from Jasper.  Helped Jasper win state in track in 1985.  Came darned near a national record that night in the 400m.  That race was a delight to watch.  It was two races actually.  It was Tony about 30 meters ahead, then everyone else.  He is now track coach at Jasper.

Add the girls state championships to all of the others and man what a school... Glad my kids go there. ;D

No accomplishment when you combine the fact that it is 3-a and from a weak region.

Hey spinks I remember him taking off from about 2 ft in side the free throw line and a certain hawk got caught underneath him.  The game footage was cool.  Play it in slow motion and in mid flight a camera flashed and it looked like the Jordan symbol on the wall.  I remember that game like it was yesterday.  I couldn't wait for them to come play at our place, and when we got off the baseball bus to watch the game he had broken his arm and didn't get to play.  Any news on where he ended up playing or what happened to him.  By the way you who shot the three ball better me or you.

When I am asked a "me or you" question, I always answer "me". Or should it be "you"? :-\
