BC boys, Silsbee girls win Pirate Relays

Van Wade

The Orange Leader

VIDOR — The Bridge City boys and the Silsbee girls captured the respective titles at the 15th Annual Vidor Pirate Relays Friday.

The Cardinals were led by distance man Tim Cude, who was a double-winner by taking both the 3,200 and 1,600-meter runs.

Vidor’s Jared Williamson won the high jump and teammate Jared Parker won the pole vault.

Deweyville’s Joe Dooley captured the 800 meters while Orangefield’s Adam Scales stormed to the 300-meter hurdles win.

Orangefield’s Kaitlynn Henson won the girls high jump, winning the event for the third straight time as she was the only Orange County female to capture a first-place medal.

Trey ran the 10.15 at the YMBL relays at West Brook today.  I was there, and he was flying.  WOS had an excellent showing -- I was very proud of them!

holy crap that's insane i herd there was at least a 25 mph tail wind along with the 80 degree weather just a perfect day to run... what was the 200 meter time

There was a good wind.  I'm not sure how fast it was blowing, but it was a tailwind for the 100.  Each qualifier for the 200s ran less than 21.5 in the prelims; however, that was with the wind.  In the finals, the wind had shifted, and the winning time was over just 22 seconds (I can't remember the exact time).

With or without the wind, Trey Franks is unbelievably fast.  This wasn't a 100 where he won by leaning over the line...  He had pulled away from the field and won by several yards.

I love it!! Trey Franks runs a 10.15 100m-I was there and saw it-and everyone wants to add their two cents to why he ran so fast. Everyone else had the same tail wind he did and NO ONE was beside him when he crossed the finish line!! I think the time behind him was 10.53, so whether he had help from a tail wind or not...he was like lightning! And yes, it runs in the family. Both of his brothers ran, and placed at state track meets.

With out a dought wind or no wind he was by himself when he came across the line. The wind factor only tells us one thing and that is his time will not be legally ranked when it comes to state rankings and records. Also because of the use of hand held watches and not the FAT timing system 2.5 seconds should be added to get a legit time for rankings. However when the 2.5 seconds are added it still comes out to a really fast 10.40, which is fast enough for a SETX leading 100m dash.. ;) ;)
