5A DI & DII           M.O. Campbell Center, Houston

4A DI & DII           Vandegrift HS, Austin

3A DI & DII           Merrell Center, Katy

2A DI & DII           Midway HS, Waco

1A DI & DII           Academy HS, Little River

 

Thoughts on these sites and UIL going to predetermined sites instead of schools agreeing to sites for semifinals?

I would rather go back to having the semi-final played at the State Tournament. But if that isn't going to happen anytime soon, then I like the idea of predetermined sites for the semi-finals.

I agree.

Now the locations of these predetermined sites can be debated.

IMO all semi’s should be in the Houston area… starting to think UIL has something against Houston. They threw Houston a bone I guess but they all should be in Houston.

Don't love it. there's going to be some matchups where both teams have to travel way out of the way to play each other, and others where one basically gets a home-court advantage while the other has to travel long distances. if they're not going to have the semis played at the state tournament then sites should be determined after matchups are determined.

Instead of having them scattered across multiple predetermined sites, why not turn the semifinals into one big Texas high school basketball jamboree? Similar to what we already do for the state championships. But hey, I'm just here to complain. 🤭

Would be nice to have two semi locations  -   Region 1vs 2 one location - two days of games,  Region 3 vs 4 one location two days of games.

The small school big school format makes it difficult if not impossible though so maybe 1a-3a sites, 4a-6a sites or any combo like that.
